He was discharged in time to attend the memorial service of close friend Sir David Frost on Thursday at Westminster Abbey, where the comic read out a prayer.
Ronnie's wife of over 40 years Anne Corbett says the star's ill health means his working days are now over.
She told the Sunday Mirror: "He won't be doing any more TV - he's 83. He won't be like Bruce Forsyth.
"We didn't know what was wrong. He was feeling sick in his stomach and he wasn't well. The hospital ran lots of tests, he was in there for several days."
Ronnie found fame as one half of comedy duo 'The Two Ronnies', alongside Ronnie Barker, who died of heart failure in 2005.
In 2011 he was awarded a CBE for his contributions to the British entertainment industry.
