Boy band Rough Copy have been voted out of the X Factor - leaving solo acts Sam Bailey, Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald to fight it out in next week's final.
The trio, mentored by Take That's Gary Barlow, performed End of the Road by Boyz II Men in a sing-off with 17-year-old Friend. Their choice of song turned out to be prophetic, however.
Barlow voted for his own act to stay in the ITV competition, as did Friend's mentor Louis Walsh.
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger decided she wanted Rough Copy in the final, but when Sharon Osbourne voted for Friend following his rendition of current number one Somewhere Only We Know, the decision was taken to deadlock and it was revealed the group had lost the public vote.
Singer Joey James was in tears as he thanked everyone who had supported the band, saying: "Just being here has been a highlight."
Show host Dermot O'Leary described the band as "three of the greatest showmen this show has ever seen", while Barlow said he was "so proud" of his act.
Friend dropped to his knees when he found out he would be joining McDonald, also 17, and mother-of-two Sam Bailey, representing the over-25s category, to compete to be the 10th winner of the X Factor.
Former X Factor champion Leona Lewis and crooner Michael Buble took to the stage during tonight's semi-final, which also featured a group performance of Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours by the remaining four contestants.
Special guests confirmed for the final at Wembley Arena include Sir Elton John, The Killers, Katy Perry and Tom Odell.
The winner's single will be released shortly after the final, with profits being split between Great Ormond Street Hospital and children's charity Together for Short Lives.
