After weeks of wondering what they would pull out of the bag, the ‘X Factor’ boyband were finally given a name this weekend. Fans of the group - yes, after two weeks together the eight-piece already have fans - were invited to suggest names for the band, and the winning suggestion was announced on Saturday night.
Stereo Kicks.
Yes, the group decided to completely gloss over the fact that there are eight of them when coming up with their name (we must admit we were rather hoping for a good number eight-related pun) and instead go for something completely generic and which, frankly, sounds an awful lot like it was cooked up in a board meeting. Not that we would ever suggest such a thing.
It wasn’t just Stereo Kicks that unveiled their new name, though, as fellow boyband Overload announced that they’d decided to clunk the word ‘Generation’ onto the end of their moniker and rebrand themselves as the rolls-right-off-the-tongue-and-immediately-out-of-the-public's-memory Overload Generation.
