This news received mixed reviews, and days later it was confirmed that the controversial TV personality had pulled out of fronting the episode, which was supposed to air on Friday night.
A spokesperson said at the time: “On reflection, Jeremy Clarkson has decided not to host ‘Have I Got News For You’. We fully expect him to resume his hosting duties later in the year.”

Stephen Mangan, best known for his leading role in ‘Episodes’ , will now be guest hosting the panel show in Jeremy’s place.
Jeremy’s sacking from ‘Top Gear’ came after a notorious “fracas” with a producer on the BBC motoring show, which included verbal abuse as well as a reported 30-second physical attack.
Last year he was warned by the BBC about his behaviour, claiming: “I've been told by the BBC that if I make one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time, I will be sacked.”
James May, who co-hosted ‘Top Gear’ with Jeremy for over a decade, has now revealed that he won’t be returning to the show either, insisting it “wouldn’t work” with a “surrogate Jeremy”.
