During a Saturday interview with HuffPost Live at Davos, actress and activist Goldie Hawn shared her thoughts on why secure attachment is such a key part to raising a healthy child.

"The idea that a child belongs somewhere will actually help them through all the obstacles, all the fears, because they have a stable support system," Hawn said. "It's a sense of security."

When Hawn was asked what drives young stars like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus to self-medicate, Hawn said a lack of good parenting is a factor. She also said there's more pressure in Hollywood today than when she started in the business.

"The stressers are different [today], the lack of reality, if you will, and the inability to decipher what's real and what isn't," she said.

"It happens to kids so young, and its an incredible onslaught of love and adoration," Hawn said of fame. "You lose perspective, particularly when you are younger, because your brain is not finished growing until your 24, 25 years old. So your decision making is not good."

But it's not just young Hollywood stars Hawn is concerned about.

"We have a social emotional problem with our young people," Hawn said.

Hawn said kids are having a hard time "because of social media, because children's heads are down more than up."

Hawn said she was invited to Davos to talk about The Hawn Foundation, which she said teaches children neuroscience, positive psychology, mindful awareness training and optimism.
