Some of the biggest names from the worlds of theatre and film attended the private funeral of Philip Seymour Hoffman on Friday, packing the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in New York.
The late actor’s coffin was carried by pallbearers and put into a hearse, followed by an array of stars including Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Ethan Hawke, Brian Dennehey, Amy Adams and Ellen Burstyn. Also in attendance were Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, Joaquin Phoenix, Louis C.K., Mary Louise Parker, John Slattery, Jerry Stiller, Marisa Tomei, Spike Lee and Mike Nichols.
The 46-year-old was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday, with his death attributed to a heroin overdose. His partner of 15 years, Mimi O'Donnell, also attended the service, cradling the youngest of their three children as she arrived.
A bigger memorial service is scheduled to take place later in February.
