'Coronation Street' star Peter Armitage has told of his desire to return to the soap after beating bowel cancer.
Peter, best known for playing Kevin Webster's dad Bill, wrote in an article for The Mirror that he wants a return "if there’s a storyline for me".

The 74-year-old, who is now in remission and will have check-ups every six months for the next five years, said: "I’ve put my life on hold for the past few months, but as soon as the ileostomy is reversed – hopefully next month – I’d like to get back to work again.

"It’s 30 years since I first started on the cobbles and I’ve always come in and out. Now Michael le Vell has been cleared, Kevin is due back on the cobbles in the spring and they’ve said Bill is fine."

His character, retired builder Bill, had a heart attack in 'Corrie' shortly before he was diagnosed with cancer in real life.
Peter used his letter in The Mirror to urge others to see their doctors if they notice any symptoms.
"I’d like to say to other people – if you see something untoward, get to the doctor straight away. Don’t let embarrassment put you off – because embarrassment with cancer could kill you."
Peter first appeared in the soap for a year in 1984.
He returned ten years later before being written out in 1997 when Bill ran off to Germany with Fred Elliott's wife Maureen.
He came back numerous times, but by 2013, Bill had returned to Germany where he suffered a heart attack. The news reached Kevin (Michael le Vell), who then left Weatherfield with son Jack to look after Bill.
