Pride Of Britain Awards 2014: 'Loose Women' Anchor Kaye Adams Laughs Off Wardrobe Malfunction On Red Carpet (PICS)

Kaye Adams suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction at the Pride of Britain awards on Monday night, when the photographers’ camera flashes left her accidentally exposing a little more than she meant to.

MORE:

Heading down the red carpet, the TV presenter looked great in her navy blue dress and silver high heeled shoes, but what she probably didn’t count on was giving everyone a sample of what she was wearing underneath.

Yes, unfortunately, while she posed next to her fellow ‘Loose WomenAndrea McLean, Coleen Nolan and Nadia Sawalha on her way into the ceremony, which honours Britain’s best and bravest, Kaye gave everybody a peek at the white underwear she was wearing underneath the dress.

Oh dear.

kaye adams

Still, ever the professional, Kaye just kept on smiling for the Pride of Britain crowds, despite her accidental pants flash, really owning the moment (and, let’s be honest, at least they were matching)

Luckily, she's seen the funny side of it all, joking on Twitter:

Don’t worry about it, Kaye, wardrobe malfunctions happen to the best of us. Even the Queen Bey herself was left blushing last week, when she accidentally danced her way out of her top and gave fans a glimpse of the nude-look bra she was wearing underneath.

Kaye returned as a ‘Loose Women’ anchor in 2013 after a seven-year break, in what was reportedly a bid by producers to bring the show back to its roots.

Since then, the show has taken on a whole host of new recruits including Myleene Klass, Jamelia and, more recently, Judy Finnigan, who is due to make her return to daytime TV as a panelist on ‘Loose Women’.

Marian Seldes, the veteran stage and screen actress whose career spanned six decades, has died at the age of 86.

Marian was best known for her work in the theatre, scooping two Tony Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award in 2010, even getting a mention in the Guinness World Records Book for never missing a performance of ‘Deathtrap’, during its four-year run.

Marian's brother confirmed that she had died on Monday at her New York home following a long illness, saying: “It is with deep sadness that I share the news that my dear sister Marian Seldes has died.

"She was an extraordinary woman whose great love of the theatre, teaching and acting was surpassed only by her deep love for her family.”

The actress first appeared on Broadway in a 1947 production of ‘Medea’ and went on to play a great number of memorable roles, including a stint in ‘A Delicate Balance’ which bagged Marian her first Tony award in 1967 for Best Featured Actress In A Play.

Her work wasn’t just limited to the stage, as she also appeared in a number of TV shows and films, starring as Mr. Big’s mother in an episode of ‘Sex And The City’ and opposite Julia Roberts in ‘Mona Lisa Smile’.

However, her heart truly belonged to the theatre and she taught acting at the The Juilliard School for over 20 years, where her students included Broadway icon Patti LuPone, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve.

Marian was married twice, and had one daughter, Katharine, from her first marriage.

'Where's Beyoncé?!' Cody The Teenager Is VERY Confused After His Wisdom Teeth Surgery

"This is my 17 year old son who just came out of dental surgery," explains Christine Livingston of North Carolina. "He had his wisdom teeth removed. He is upset because his idol Beyoncé never showed up."

Understandably, I'm sure you'd agree.

Yes, it's the latest in the 'post-wisdom teeth surgery' canon of YouTube videos: 'Beyoncé After Dentist'. It begins with this wonderful exchange between Christine and Cody:

"Who are you looking for?"

"Where's Beyoncé?!"

"Beyoncé couldn't make it."

"She told me she'd be here!"

"It's gonna be OK."

"She lied to me!"

And goes on to include Cody being very alarmed by his own burps (and blood), thinking he's going to Africa (although he hates it) and being convinced that the FBI are manning a road block.

Bless you, poor Cody. We hope you become a very big star as a result of your mum making (gentle) fun of you. And we hope Beyoncé gets to see this video and finally shows up.

When it came to the fashion stakes, Abbey Clancy stole the show on the Pride of Britain red carpet on Monday night.

MORE:

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winner proved why she is one of the UK’s most sought-after fashion models when she worked the red carpet on her way into the ceremony, in a daring dress that showed off her fabulous pins.

From one side, Abbey’s dress might have appeared to be a fairly standard awards show floor-length gown, but after giving photographers a quick twirl she revealed that the other half of the dress was thigh-length and adorned with a Greek-inspired design.

At Abbey’s side at the event was her footballer husband, Peter Crouch, who was dressed slightly more traditionally in a plain black suit.

This year’s Pride of Britain Awards, which were hosted by Carol Vorderman, saw a whole host of celebrities turn out to watch the UK’s best and bravest being recognised for their achievements in the past year.

Among the stars in attendance was ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Susanna Reid, who was also one of the judges for this year’s awards, who looked stunning in a gold dress.

Carol had previously revealed that Susanna had struggled with being on the panel, claiming she was an “emotional wreck” by the end of the day.

While Susanna has been lauded for her fashion choice, ‘Loose Women’ anchor Kaye Adams has received slightly less praise after accidentally flashing her underwear in an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction, joking on Twitter that she had crawled under a stone after the mishap.

German Musician Anna-Maria Hefele Demonstrates Polyphonic Overtone Singing, And It's Amazing

"Overtone singing is a voice technique where one person sings two notes at the same time," explains German musician Anna-Maria Hefele.

Hefele is an 'open throat' singer - and her amazing ability has seen this video go viral. Not least because the sound of a vocalist holding a low note (the 'fundamental') while simultaneously singing a scale of high notes (the 'overtone scale') is utterly bizarre, and somewhat Twilight Zone-ey.

She also teaches this technique - and if you're interested in learning it (and fancy a trip to Austria), she's shortly running a workshop in Salzburg, 25-26 October. You know what to do, polyphonic overtone singing fans!

'Strictly Come Dancing' Scoring Is 'Too High' According To Bruce Forsyth

Bruce Forsyth might not be hosting 'Strictly Come Dancing' anymore but he's wasted no time in making his feelings known about the first series not to feature him.

Whilst the legendary presenter thinks Tess Daly and her new sidekick Claudia Winkleman are 'doing a great job', Bruce thinks that some contestants are being scored too highly so early on in the series.

bruce forsyth
Bruce Forsyth

Speaking at the Pride Of Britain Awards in London on Monday night, Brucie told the Mirror that he felt 'EastEnders' star Jake Wood - who earned 35 points on this weekend's show for his salsa routine - was being scored too highly.

The 86-year-old also joked that his old 'Strictly chums - some of whom were also at the Pride Of Britain Awards - would ignore him at the event.

"Are my Strictly colleagues here tonight?" he asked. "I wonder if they are still talking to me? You know they can turn."

One former colleague we're pretty sure Bruce would have something to say to is professional dancer Ola Jordan, who has stripped naked for her 2015 calendar.

In pics that are sure to send Brucie's blood pressure through the roof, Ola ditched her 'Strictly' sequins to pose naked in the raunchy new photoshoot.

‘EastEnders’ star Kellie Bright has been praised for her portrayal of Linda in Monday night’s show, which saw the Queen Vic landlady become the victim of a shocking attack.

The dramatic episode saw Linda raped by Dean Wicks, and the closing scenes showed a shaken Linda attempting to come to terms with what happened.

The storyline will develop during the coming weeks, however Kellie is already being applauded for her portrayal of Linda and many fans took to Twitter after the episode aired.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that while Dean will “get his comeuppance”, he won’t be standing trial for rape.

In the next few weeks, Linda will struggle to cope as she decides to keep the attack a secret.

Her husband Mick spots that there’s a problem, however, his attempt to get Linda to open up to her mother will ultimately fail.

The plot will continue to develop in 2015 in the run-up to the show’s 30th anniversary week in February.

Helen Flanagan Hopes To Star On Stage In Shakespeare's ‘Romeo And Juliet'

Helen Flanagan has been eyeing her next potential role - and it certainly isn’t what you’d expect the former ‘Coronation Street’ star to plump for.

While you’d be forgiven for thinking Helen might be on the lookout for another TV role, she actually fancies treading the boards and taking on the lead female role in Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo And Juliet’.

helen flanagan

Speaking to The Sun, Helen explains: “My ultimate goal in acting is to appear in ‘Romeo and Juliet’, I love everything about it, especially the balcony scene.”

“I am such a romantic I would really, really love to play Juliet, it’s my total dream role,” she continues. “I know people will probably think it’s a really weird ambition but I was actually good at Shakespeare when I was at school.”

Since leaving ‘Corrie’, Helen hasn’t appeared on our screens very often, though she did make a brief appearance in ‘Holby City’ earlier this year.

She also scored another unusual role, playing a tortured artist… for The Sims 4.

Earlier this week, Hels enjoyed a night out for her pal Charlotte Dawson’s birthday and she was spotted looking slightly dishevelled and tired as she made her way home afterwards.

Review: Kristin Scott Thomas in Electra, Old Vic Theatre

$

2014-10-06-Electra1.jpg

Electra is not an easy story to love. The tale of a woman, Electra, who plots to murder her mother the Queen of Mycenae, Clytemnestra, and her new lover, the King Aegisthus, for their murder of her father, Agamemnon, is not the most joyful.

Nor is Electra an easy character to love, especially as we come to understand why Clytemnestra murdered her tyrannical husband. But we're not given much opportunity to warm to either the character or the story in this rather heavy-going production.

I know Greek tragedies aren't easy for modern audiences. Everything is very literal in Greek tragedies - people say what they think and mean what they say. Subtext is almost non-existent and the emotional weight is often very, very heavy.

But though this challenge to reinterpret the material can be daunting, it should be a challenge to be relished. Anyone who saw the recent adaptation of Medea at the National Theatre with Helen McCrory directed by Carrie Cracknell will know that bravery can often pay dividends.

Carrie Cracknell brought a lot of innovative ideas to her Medea, including using a new adaptation from Ben Power, incorporating contemporary dance and a score from Goldfrapp.

2014-10-06-Electra2.jpg

Some similar approaches have been taken here. Frank McGuinness has written a new adaptation of Sophocles' Electra and PJ Harvey was brought in for the music but equivalent success has not been achieved.

Too often this production seemed to be played for laughs, which is a bit odd for a Greek tragedy. And in the brief moments of emotional drama, PJ Harvey's heavy music pushes the scene to overwrought melodrama. The music doesn't seem to enhance the production. Silence would've been more profound.

The star attraction is Kristin Scott Thomas in the central role and she certainly is a commanding presence on the stage. Her Electra is full of anger and bile but unfortunately not much else. She is bitingly caustic throughout the show, never showing any doubt over her determination to have her mother killed.

Her angry sarcasm I found a bit exhausting and it robbed the production of much pathos and also robbed her character of much inner turmoil. There is room in the script for variety, such as the scene between her and her softer, kinder sister Chrysothemis as Electra tries to persuade her younger sister to kill their mother. There was an opportunity there for emotional blackmail, for manipulation, but instead the scene is played almost for laughs.

The supporting cast though is excellent. In particular, Diana Quick as Electra's mother brings real internal conflict to her role, pulling on our heart strings a lot more than the main character. You can really feel her wrestling with her conscience and her feelings towards her exiled son who she knows is sworn to take vengeance for the murder of his father. As she pleas to those around her, "A mother never stops loving her children" you really feel it.

2014-10-06-Electra3.jpg

Liz White also impresses as Electra's younger sister, Chrysothemis, caught between the love for her mother and her concern for Electra.

The Old Vic Theatre remains set in the round for this production, as it has been for this year, and this works wonders for this production. Electra is a very intense piece and the intimacy of showing in the round is a real benefit.

Director Ian Rickson maximises this opportunity well and the movement from the actors is great. Watching Electra and her mother circle each other in their scene together was a real highlight, especially with the women of Mycenae weaving in-between them constantly to prevent physical confrontation.

The climax of the play is actually when the production is at its strongest - the melodramatic music is gone, the sarcasm and laughs have evaporated and instead we're faced with the horror of Electra finally getting what she wishes for.

It's a harrowing moment but it's just a shame that the previous 90 minutes were such a struggle to get through. There have been better high-profile adaptations of Greek tragedies this year on the London stage, which puts this in the shade somewhat.

Kelly Brook's Nude Photos Leak: Model's Naked Selfie Circulated Online In Latest Celebrity Hacking Scandal

Kelly Brook has become the latest celebrity to have her private nude images posted online.

A naked selfie, apparently showing the British TV personality nude while lying on a bed, has been posted on various social media sites, as well as a number of other shots which reportedly see Kelly in varying stages of undress.

The news of Kelly’s leaked photos follows a mass celebrity hack which has so far seen naked images of stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian posted on file-sharing sites like 4Chan.

When the ‘Hunger Games’ actress’s nude pictures were first circulated, they were accompanied by a list of over 100 celebrities thought to have also had their private photos assessed, which included Kelly’s name.

However, at the time, she denied that such photos existed, tweeting: “The only nude photos you'll ever see of me are the ones that I "leak" and the ones that my head are superimposed on!”

Earlier this week, the hacking scandal had its first ever male victim, when Hulk Hogan’s son Nick had a number of his personal photos leaked online, though he was insistent that some of them - including photos of his mum in a thong - were not taken from his iCloud account.

This latest wave of leaked photos comes following last week’s news that Marty Singer, a lawyer who represents a number of the victims, was reportedly planning to sue Google, claiming that the Internet giants had “made millions from the victimisation of women” and not done enough to prevent the stolen photos from being accessed.

It's been a difficult few weeks for Kelly, who announced at the tail-end of last month that she and her fiancé David McIntosh had decided to split up and go their separate ways.

Lord Alan Sugar has blasted Katie Hopkins and Luisa Zissman ahead of the new series of 'The Apprentice', which returns to our screens next week.

Both Katie and Luisa used the BBC show to launch their careers, but Lord Sugar is less than impressed with their antics since finding fame via the programme.

Ahead of the tenth series, the businessman told the Radio Times that some former candidates were more interested in being celebrities than succeeding in the business world.

“They’d go to the opening of an envelope if they got an invitation," he said.

"They have their Andy Warhol moment, thinking it’s going to make them famous, but very few have actually succeeded.

"Before long they’re of no interest to anybody.”

Katie Hopkins appeared on the third series of the BBC show and, according to her Twitter profile, is 'the only candidate to say 'no' to Sir Alan." She has since gone on to become well known for her outspoken and (usually) unpopular points of view, which she shares on TV and in her weekly newspaper column.

Luisa Zissman, who was the runner-up on the last series of the show, has become a lads' mag favourite thanks to her love of stripping off and, more recently, was a housemate on 'Celebrity Big Brother'.

The Apprentice’ is back on our screens later this month, and now we’ve finally been introduced to the contestants heading into Lord Sugar’s boardroom hoping to avoid hearing those famous two words: “You’re fired!”

To mark the show’s landmark tenth series, a whopping 20 candidates will be appearing before Sir Alan - and, of course, his returning advisors Karren Brady and Nick Hewer - to compete in a number of tasks to prove to him they have the business savvy and strategic thinking skills to bag themselves a £250,000 investment.

Ahead of next week’s series opener - which will launch in a double-bill, spread across two nights - here’s your chance to get to know the candidates that Lord Sugar will be putting to the test across the next 12 weeks.

As usual, the new contestants’ introductory statements let us know whether they’re taking the competition seriously (“I'm not in this process to make friends with people, I'm here to win”) or if they’re potentially just a bit deluded (“I think I am Alan Sugar when he was my age”).

Either way, it looks set to be yet another stonker of a series, and here are the contestants hoping to make a lasting impression on Lord Sugar…

Jazz pianist John Turville spotted this harmonica player performing Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor on the London Underground - and as he says: "This is why this is the best city in the world." Indeed...

No sooner had Turville posted the video to Facebook, than the comments revealed who the busker was: Philip Achille, a graduate of London's Royal Academy of Music who has performed at the Royal Albert Hall:

But Achille doesn't just play classical music. Here he was giving commuters a stonking rendition of 'Spain' by Chick Corea while busking at Canary Wharf station:

Why Lord and Lady Grantham Should Have Couples Counselling

$
0
0
Simon Bricker is the curious art historian played by Richard E. Grant, who has featured in the last few episodes of Downton Abbey and is apparently head over heels with Lady Grantham.
In fact, he is so in awe with her that when he first stays at Downton as a houseguest he tells Lady G: "I think everything about Downton is beautiful." He obviously means Lady G as well.
Lord Grantham thinks that Bricker is flirting with his prized pet dog Isis and gets annoyed and tells Cora to tell her friend Simon to stop flirting with Isis.
In another scene, as Cora (played by Elizabeth McGovern) looked up as they strolled the still castling street: "Oh yes, Mr Bricker! I spent my first season in Newport dancing under the romantic gazes of Sargent's portraits. Seeing some of his best work took me back!"
Simon Bricker slightly touches Cora's arm, "His work is brilliant, of course but I dare say he is remiss in one thing."
Cora, continues:
"Oh, and why is that?" she asked politely.
"He never painted you. It would have been his piece de resistance, surely!"
Cora laughed awkwardly and looked at her feet, a blush spreading over her cheeks. She could feel his intense gaze upon her.
In last Sunday night's episode Cora is out for dinner with Bricker, not knowing that Robert had come to London at the last minute intending to have dinner with his wife. Robert, aka Lord Grantham, is crestfallen and angry when she returns to the flat where he is waiting alone on the sofa. Although nothing happened between Bricker and Cora - not even a peck on the cheek - Robert is incandescent with rage and when Cora pleads that she was talking "art" with Bricker, Robert implies that she knows little about the subject.
He had forgotten quickly that it was the "della Francesca" that Bricker had come to Downton to examine.
On another romantic front, there could be a romance between Lord Merton (Douglas Reith) and Isobel Crawley (played by Penelope Wilton) despite
Maggie Smith's (Dowager Countess) best efforts to muddle in the middle of it all.
As for how Isobel's feeling about being the "quarry" in this particular hunt, she seems to be leaning toward turning down her suitor even if the Dowager wasn't meddling.
But should Lord Merton decide to propose, I think it would be more for companionship and there don't seem to be any other parties involved.
But what is more worrying however, is Simon Bricker and Cora Crawley's friendship - and how that develops in the coming episodes.
Week after week, I wonder what it would be like if a couples counsellor or marital therapist were around the corner so that Robert and Cora would be able to go for weekly therapy sessions and talk things through.
I was rather uncomfortable when I watched him "bark" at her and put her down; however, later in the episode she was able to hit back at him, although it wasn't done in private and in the earshot of others in the room.
There are many couples in the series that could benefit from counselling, and I keep, week after week, thinking to myself "If only...."

The 22-year-old from Oregon pleaded with Judge Monte Campbell for leniency, telling him he would “like to be viewed as a good person, not as a nuisance to society”.

But he was given a prison sentence after he failed to meet with his probation officer or complete community service following his arrest four years ago for "criminal mischief".

Police also said his appearance the MTV awards was a further violation.

Jesse hit the headlines after Miley Cyrus plucked him from obscurity to accept her award for Best Video to highlight the plight of America’s homeless.

When he accepted her award, Jesse told the star-studded VMAs audience: “Thank y'all, my name is Jesse and I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the US who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now.

"I know this because I am one of these people."

As he made his speech, Miley sat on the edge of the stage in tears.

Since the ceremony, Miley urged fans to donate cash to an LA-based homeless charity, My Friend’s Place.

“I am extremely proud to say that even in death, she gave three people the chance of life,” he is reported as stating.

Esther Rantzen and Suzi Quatro were among the friends and family who paid tribute to the former Eurovision contestant at the service, which took place in North London.

Lynsey died in hospital on 1 October, at the age of 64, after suffering from a suspected brain haemorrhage.

Her agent Michael Joyce issued a statement confirming the sad news, saying: "Although she was small in stature, she was very big in positive personality. She was always so positive about everything."

Lynsey will be best remembered for her singles ‘Won’t Somebody Dance With Me’, ‘No Honestly’ and ‘Sugar Me’, as well as her Eurovision entry ‘Rock Bottom’, which featured Mike Moran.

Lynsey’s music earned her the honour of being the first woman to win an Ivor Novello award for songwriting, which she was awarded for the ballad ‘Won’t Somebody Dance With Me’.

‘EastEnders' Rape Storyline Receives Over 200 Complaints As Charity Praises Controversial Plot (VIDEO)

The BBC has received 278 complaints following Monday night’s episode of ‘EastEnders’, in which Linda Carter was raped by Dean Wicks.

However, while a number of viewers aren’t happy, the storyline has been praised by Rape Crisis, whose South London branch worked with the cast on the episode.

Linda was left stunned after the attack

A further 38 complaints were received by the television regulator OfCom.

Writing in the Mirror, Rape Crisis spokesperson Katie Russell has addressed the matter, stating: "Because 85,000 adult women and 10,000 adult men are raped across England and Wales alone every year. Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in the same period.

"And this is not to mention the huge numbers of children who we know are raped and sexually abused each year, or the vast numbers of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse who live among us.

"So whether we've directly experienced sexual violence ourselves or not, it's more than likely that at least one of our friends, family members, colleagues or neighbours has."

Linda's sudden change in character alarms her family

The show have released a statement defending the episode, which reads: “‘EastEnders’ has a rich history of tackling difficult issues and Linda’s story is one of these.

“We have worked closely with Rape Crisis and other experts in the field to tell this story which we hope will raise awareness of sexual assaults and the issues surrounding them.”

“We have been extremely mindful of the content within the episode and the timeslot in which it was shown and at no point have there been any scenes of a graphic nature. In fact, the attack on Linda was implied and was not explicit.”

Kellie Bright, who stars as Linda, was praised by fans for her portrayal of the Queen Vic Landlady, with many taking to Twitter to praise the actress.

The storyline will develop in the coming months and it has been confirmed that Dean won’t stand trial for the crime.

In this week’s episodes, Linda’s mother Elaine will arrive in Walford, however, the pub landlady is set to keep the incident a secret.
