'Big Brother' 2015: John McCririck And Charley Uchea Return To The House (PICS)

This year’s ‘Big Brother’ has already seen the return of so many old faces that producers have decided to make a whole task of it, in yet another ‘Timebomb’ twist.

SEE MORE:

In order for the housemates to win a luxury shopping budget this week, the ‘BB’ residence has been turned into a hotel, where a few familiar faces from series gone by will be be dropping in to spend the evening, where they’ll be waited on hand and foot.

On Monday, the contestants were surprised to see the return of John McCririck… so let’s hope the fridge is already stocked with his beloved diet cola.

Shortly after John descended on the house, Jack McDermott was lumbered with the unenviable task of giving the former racing pundit a back massage. As if being up for eviction wasn’t trying enough

Let's hope that luxury shopping budget is worth it, eh?

John wasn’t the only guest checking into the ‘BB’ hotel, though, as ‘Big Brother 8’ housemate Charley Uchea also made her return to the series.

She wasted no time in getting re-acquainted with Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, who shocked the housemates with her arrival last week, and delivering a few home truths to Helen Wood.

So far this year, Nikki Grahame, Brian Belo and Helen Wood returned to the house as part of ‘Time Warp’ week, while Nikki was greeted with the familiar sight of her ex-boyfriend and former ‘BB’ housemate, Pete Bennett, as part of a task.

More former contestants will be dropping into the ‘BB’ hotel over the next few days, and we can’t wait to see who else they’ve got in store.

Find out how the group reacts to Charley and John’s arrivals in Tuesday’s ‘Big Brother’, airing at 10pm on Channel 5.

Royal Opera House Apologises Over Guilliame Tell Rape Scene After Audiences Boo

The Royal Opera House has apologised to an audience after its newest offering was booed on opening night for a “gratuitous” rape scene.

The production of Rossini’s Guilliame Tell, an opera first performed in 1829, featured full frontal nudity and a brutal rape scene, leaving people horrified.

The production, which was set in the 1990s Balkans wars rather than medieval Switzerland, showed a woman being force-fed champagne, molested with a gun, stripped naked and forced onto a banquet table.

In a statement, director of opera Kasper Holten said: "The production intends to make it an uncomfortable scene, just as there are several upsetting and violent scenes in Rossini's score.

"We are sorry if some people have found this distressing."

The BBC also reported, that Holten said the scene "puts the spotlight on the brutal reality of women being abused during war time, and sexual violence being a tragic fact of war."

According to the BBC, Tenor John Osborn, who performed in the opera, told Reuters that the scene perhaps “went a little longer than it should have".

But he added: "If you don't feel the brutality, the suffering these people have had to face, if you want to hide it, it becomes soft, it becomes for children."

The scene triggered booing from the audience, while several critics slated the production.

The Stage gave the opera one star while the Guardian was slightly kinder with a two star rating, crediting the “professionalism of the performers”.

SEE ALSO:

According to Guardian critic Tim Ashley, many people also left the theatre before the end of the production.

He described the offending scene as “protracted and pruriently voyeuristic gang rape”, which was met by “an immediate reaction of unprecedented anger”.

The Sunday Express’ theatre critic Michael Arditti tweeted:

Meanwhile the Telegraph’s Rupert Christiansen gave it three stars, while still describing it as a “dismally banal production, which drains the opera of all its romantic nationalism and bucolic charm without putting anything enriching its place”.

He added: “If this sort of interpretation represents the future of opera, then God help us all.”

According to Classic FM, this is not the first time the ROH has had a production booed.

Its staging of Mozart’s Idomeneo and Jonathan Kent’s Manon Lescaut were both criticised by audiences.

Helen Flanagan and Scott Sinclair have welcomed their first child into the world.

The Sun report that Helen gave birth on Monday, almost two weeks past her due date, and is currently recovering in hospital in Birmingham.

Describing the newborn’s arrival as a “very exciting time”, a friend of the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress tells the newspaper: “Helen was hoping to have the baby naturally, but the doctors decided it was best to induce. She is exhausted but doing well.”

Helen previously claimed that she and Scott wanted to keep the baby's sex a surprise.

She first announced that she was pregnant back in December, revealing she was “so excited” to become a mum for the first time.

Helen had previously spoken about her desire to start a family with Scott, admitting in an interview last year that she and her footballer boyfriend were trying for a baby.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to be a young mum and I now feel ready. It’s something I’ve wanted for ages and Scott’s going to be a great dad. I just hope it doesn’t take me too long to get pregnant. And I’m not bothered about getting married beforehand.”

We have reached out to Helen’s representative for an official comment.

Glastonbury 2015: What Can Other UK Music Festivals Learn From the Greatest Place on Earth?

$
0
0
As I type this, I'm considering whether to shun society, and just camp in a field listening to music for the foreseeable future. I'm wondering whether my weird, wellie tan will ever fade and hoping I eventually stop finding glitter EVERYWHERE. It all, obviously, can only mean one thing - I just got back from Glastonbury.

I've been a festival-goer since I convinced my parents to let me go to Reading at the ripe old age of 16, and once there, I fell in love with fields full of dirty people and loud music, starting a summer romance that will last forever.

Since then, I've sampled almost every UK festival on offer, but everything changed in 2013, when I made it to the hallowed fields of Worthy Farm for the first time. When you talk about music festivals, it's never long before chat turns to Glastonbury, and I was given all the warnings about how huge it is, and that I would miss most acts I hoped to see. I nodded a lot, thinking that I was listening, only to arrive at Castle Cary station in late June, with a broken elbow (long story) and the sudden realisation that I had absolutely no bloody idea what I was doing.

There's something about Glastonbury that's hard to understand and explain. It's a surreal place, that leaves you questioning everything, and wanting more from every aspect of life. It forces you to reflect and think, while seeing some of the world's greatest musicians and performers. There are other fantastic festivals up and down the country, but none of them come close to beating the Eavis family's spectacular. What makes Worthy Farm so special? And how can the organisers of Reading, Isle Of Wight, V et al replicate Glastonbury's success? Fresh from another brilliant weekend, I've got a few ideas...

1. Realise that headliners don't need to be 'rock legends'

This point was showcased fantastically on both Friday and Saturday night. There was plenty of talk over whether Foo Fighters' replacement Florence And The Machine was worthy, and ready for, the Pyramid Stage headline slot. Flo, I'd like to apologise for doubting you. As the London-born star leapt around the stage, there was no doubt that she was certainly ready, and in actual fact, it was probably the crowd who weren't prepared for her. It seems that the only headliners we'll welcome these days are rock giants, with tens of albums to their name, and quite frankly, we're missing out. The endless merry-go-round of acts such as Metallica and Kasabian is predictable and boring. Let somebody else step up and give it a go, you never know - you could get a huge surprise. Which brings us to a certain Mr West.

Kanye West, or as I will now be referring to him, Lord Yeezus, was quite something. Yes, he's controversial, different and in possessions of one of the world's biggest egos - but can you name anyone in music who is currently more exciting? He was easily the most-talked about act all weekend, and everything from the staging to his decision to shun huge A-list guests in favour of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, had been carefully considered and planned. He's not a stupid man, and the sense of occasion wasn't lost on him. I'd take that over some recently reunited rockers going through the motions and chatting about the good ol' days (*cough* The Who) anyday.

2. Cut back on the branding

Thanks to the way it's grown organically, Glastonbury is basically brand-free, and all the better for it. Festivals are about losing yourself - and then finding yourself again - in giant open spaces, and areas sponsored by big companies always feel a little false and soulless. It's 'sponsored fun' and the carefully crafted hashtags and slogans are just a cruel reminder that the real world isn't actually that far away. Bestival has struck a great balance with this, and I will FOREVER be grateful to the trays of Berocca that are handed out each morning, but other events struggle to get it right.

3. Put more thought into the late night areas

Shangri-La is yet another area of Glastonbury that's hard to describe. This year, things took a political turn, and the mazes of heaven and hell were decked out with faux campaign materials, satirical art and a giant, terrifying, poster of David Cameron. Shangri-La is a festival in itself, and at midnight as the Pyramid shuts up shop, thousands make their way to the Southeast corner. Compare this to Isle Of Wight, where last week I struggled to get into any of the tents that were open past midnight, and Reading, where the silent disco is the only option, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back to Glastonbury.

4. Wake up to the fact it's not all about the music

Ok - most festivals have some sort of comedy area, poetry tent or theatre space, but the acts who fill them rarely get to showcase their sets elsewhere on site. At Glastonbury, these areas blur with the music, and this year, Pussy Riot opened The Park stage on Friday, while spoken word artist-turned-rapper Kate Tempest performed there in the early afternoon. Bestival and Latitude both do this well, with areas that are separate, but so large that they're impossible to just bypass. You're constantly reminded of politics and social responsibility, which helps Glastonbury to...

5. Foster a sense of community

This definitely sounds like one of the most pretentious comments ever, but please bear with me. On Thursday night, I lost my friends, somewhere near a tunnel, underneath a giant disco ball. Once you're lost within a crowd of over 150,000, your chances of a reunion are slim to say the least. It was around 3am - obviously too early for bed - so I took myself to Pennard Hill's communal area, where there's a giant fire and other waifs and strays, who are lost but not ready to give up the night. Everyone talks to you. I saw Slaves on my own (twice) and made friends for life, whose names I didn't actually find out. The whole weekend is a shared experience, that goes far beyond the group of mates you came with. This sense of spirit will only develop over time, but it's probably the most important aspect of the weekend - it's what makes Glastonbury Glastonbury.

The dirt may still be lodged under my nails, and I can't work out which bits of my tan are skin, and which are grime. The photos have begun to make their way onto Facebook, and each is more fabulously awful than the last. I haven't touched my bag, which was packed as I fought over shared the last can of beer with a friend at 4am Monday morning. I'm not emotionally ready to watch the highlights again, but Glastonbury, thank you for yet another unforgettable weekend. And don't worry everyone, there's just 359 days until we can go back...

Thirteen Signs Your Binge Watching Is Out of Control

$
0
0
My family's enforcing screen time rules on me. They call it an online binge watching intervention.

True, my habits are out of control and interfering with my life. I probably average three hours a day of binge watching television shows online and, on some days, up to seven hours of serious bingeing on a show.

I've even put the iPad outside the shower door just so I can keep watching an episode of The Killing while showering. Can you imagine how ridiculous it is trying to wash yourself while continually wiping circles on the steamy shower door to see through, just so you can binge watch a murder mystery?

Even the toilet is no longer a peaceful place for me.

The problem is squeezing binge watching into days which are already crammed full of work, sports, family commitments, after-school activities and all the rest. I'm not just saving my binge watching till the evening but sneaking it in during the day, at any opportunity. Highly unproductive because I also work from home.

I'm like my four-year-old who steals our iPad and hides under her bed to watch Doc McStuffins. Except I use excuses to the family like "got to dash upstairs to send an email!" just to sneak half an hour with Jamie Fraser.

A Netflix survey last year found 73% of people define "binge watching" as watching between 2-6 episodes of the same TV show in one sitting. I'd do that easy, and sometimes more.

Apparently binge watching is viewed by some as a "smart, contemplative way of watching TV." Really? My brain doesn't feel very clever after a binge. My eyes are bloodshot. And I don't think straight. I sacrifice a productive yoga session and a 30-minute run for a fix of drug-dealing kingpin Walter White, or the endearing prison ratbags at Litchfield Penitentiary.

In my view the smart, contemplative way of watching TV is not bingeing but spacing out my viewing. Using discipline to watch only one episode of each show per week to prolong the series. Which is what my family is suggesting I do because I feel empty after the series is complete.

But, like any binge watching addict, I really don't think I can. I need a fix now. In fact, as I write this I'm hurrying so I can watch another episode of Orange Is The New Black.

The only thing that will stop me is probably a massive Internet meltdown. If your binge watching is also out of control you might identify with the following:

1. Your partner starts enforcing screen time rules for you.

2. You haven't exercised for a week because you've used that time to binge watch instead.

3. You have recurring dreams featuring characters like Walter White, Piper Chapman and Jamie Fraser engaged in a weird threesome.

4. When facing a tricky work problem you think: "What would Frank Underwood do?"

5. Your eyes are dry and bloodshot after a few hours of binge watching, and your IQ has dropped several points. But you don't care.

6. Your partner (who never binge watches) asks you out for a rare date night and you decline. You'd rather spend it on the couch binge watching a final series.

7. You stop reading your favourite informative novels before bedtime and binge watch rubbish instead.

8. You find yourself still awake at 12.30am because you need to watch the next episode and the next, and the next.

9. You let the kids binge watch DVDs so you can keep binge watching your online TV series in peace.

10. When, if you work at home like me, you change daily deadlines and procrastinate starting projects so you can watch a couple of hours of online TV.

11. When you sign up for a month's free trial of new online services just so you can cram as many "free" shows into your day. Then cancel before you have to subscribe.

12. When you know you should be disciplined and watch just a couple of episodes of your favourites series over several weeks. But you can't.

13. When you find yourself binge watching while you're sitting on the toilet or while showering by watching a show through the shower screen, you know you've got a problem.

Caitlyn Jenner is continuing to slay us with fabulous ensembles, and has been spotted sporting yet another show-stopping number in New York.

On Monday night, she arrived in the Big Apple sporting a little black dress, which was followed by two amazing new looks.

SEE MORE:

Now, she's scored a hat trick, with her third outfit in 24 hours, a blue, lace Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, for a night out at the theatre on Broadway.

AMAAAAAAZING

Ahead of her evening out, Caitlyn was photographed wearing a stylish leopard print dress, while out on a shopping trip on Tuesday.

She wore the eye-catching ensemble as she made her way into Patricia Field’s shop in the East Village, the designer best known for her work as a stylist on the fashion-forward TV series, ‘Sex And The City’.

Caitlyn's first outfit of the day

As if we weren’t floored enough by Caitlyn’s wardrobe choice, she then left the store in a completely new outfit altogether, ditching the dress for a bright and colourful skirt, which she matched with a black blazer, complete with high shoulderpads.

Looking like a fabulous hybrid of Hilary Devey and Kim Cattrall’s ‘Sex And The City’ character, Samantha Jones, Caitlyn carried an elaborately designed clutch-bag with her, on her way out of the shop.

YASSSSSSSSSS

We’re now making an open plea for Caitlyn Jenner to take us shopping, immediately if not sooner - particularly if it means an outfit change in the middle of the day.

We'll pay for the Cosmos afterwards, if that suits?

Seeing Caitlyn’s ever-expanding wardrobe has got us seriously excited for her first red carpet appearance next month, where she’ll be honoured with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards, a prize which goes to figures from the world of sport whose achievements “transcend” the world of sport.

caitlyn jenner
There's always time for an outfit change - right, Caitlyn?

Caitlyn is gearing up to appear in her very own E! reality series, ‘I Am Cait’, having previously appeared in ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ since its inception in 2007.

In the most recent trailer, she said: “We're going to talk about everything. We're going to do a lot of fun things for the first time. We're going to go shopping for the first time. Maybe some boy stuff like ride a motorcycle - because girls do that, too!”

We literally can not wait.

‘I Am Cait’ is due to hit screens next month.

The next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ could make for awkward viewing as two of the show’s professional dancers have been locked in a legal battle.

According to The Sun, Brendan has been forced to pay a hefty fee to the Russian dancer - who won the show in 2011 with Harry Judd - for her to drop the case of using her image without license.

The pair - who previously performed together on Brendan’s ‘Licence to Thrill’ tours in 2013 and 2014- are now giving ‘Strictly’ bosses a headache by refusing to dance with each other on the show after the row.

A source told the paper: “The picture didn’t even show Aliona’s face clearly, it was more of a body shot. But she obviously recognised herself immediately.

“She was seriously unhappy when she realised her picture was being used to push Brendan’s shows when she wasn’t even in them.

“She wanted to sue and Brendan was furious when he was told of her plan. He reluctantly agreed to pay out to make it go away. But needless to say, that was the end of any friendship,”
they added.

It isn’t the first time two of the ‘Strictly’ professionals have fallen out, however, as in 2013, Karen Hauer and Ola Jordan became involved in a backstage row which saw Ola threaten to quit the series.

The Mirror reported that Karen told her during a rehearsal: “You’re a rubbish dancer, Ola. That’s why you’re always at the back.”

A source said at the time: “It was a totally unprovoked verbal attack and Ola was very, very upset and felt she was being bullied.”

Justin Bieber Penetrated By Huge Penis In 'Where Are U Now' Video. Yes, Really.

Justin invited his Beliebers to get creative with by drawing over the footage of him, but it seems someone couldn’t resist doodling every schoolboy's graffiti of choice.

The immature (but highly amusing) doodle somehow made it into the final version of the video, which was released on Monday, seemingly slipping past producers.

‘Where Are U Now’ sees Justin team up with dance acts Diplo and Skrillex, and marks a much different sound for the singer who first found fame with his track ‘Baby’.

It’s already hit number three on the UK charts, giving him his highest entry in this country since 2012’s ‘Boyfriend’.

Speaking about the track in the video’s bio, Jack Ü - the collective name for Skrillex and Diplo - wrote: “With the video we wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record and essentially create an ode to our fans. Doing what we do, it’s entirely all about the fans.

“Justin wrote this record during a tough time in his life and it comes to us that sometimes, as artists, we are also just objects and we have to take that as much as we have to use that to create.

“We all do this for you, respect that you put us here and it’s Ü that made the video.”

'What Happened, Miss Simone?' Tells Intimate Story Of Talented, Troubled Jazz Legend, One Of The First Entertainer Activists

Entertainers have a huge role in inspiring people and keeping them energised for change and social justice, says the director of an intimate documentary covering the personal trials and extraordinary public triumphs of Nina Simone.

Liz Garbus, who has delved deep into the archives of the musical icon’s life – reading from her diaries, letters and showing personal film footage – for the film ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’ now showing on Netflix, and she tells HuffPostUK why artists who speak today stand on Nina’s shoulders.

She says: “In the sixties, it was very clear, that connection between artist and movement and keeping people energised.

“When they marched from Selma to Montgomery, what was at the end? A show, by beloved artists – Nina Simone, Harry Belafonte, and that type of inspiration and recognition and joy that entertainers can bring to a movement is something that we need today. The artists who do it are calling on Nina’s legacy.”

nina simone
Nina Simone was a pioneer for how entertainers can ignite social change, says Liz Garbus

The power of social media has made it a lot easier to share the message than when Nina Simone was around, of course, but Liz points out, “She used music and her passions and life experiences also, so it touched people very deeply.”

The film includes personal accounts by Nina’s daughter Lisa Simone Kelly of the volatile relationship between her parents, and also the abuse she suffered at her famous mother’s hands, and Liz reveals that no subject was off limits in her exhaustive research for the filim, which took 18 months to make.

“Lisa is her mother’s daughter, very brave, honest and open. There was no time she said she didn’t want to go there,” she remembers. “That’s extraordinary. What I find remarkable is that, after everything she went through with the upset of her childhood, she also has love and appreciation, and she doesn’t let one cloud the other.”

nina simone
Nina Simone could be charming, but her family life is revealed in the film as extremely volatile

As for the film maker herself, after spending so many months in the company of the music legend, she has feelings for Nina as strong as for her own family members, she says…

“I liked her. I think I have feelings for her now as I would for a family member, I acknowledge her rough sides, but I still love her, possibly almost more for understanding those rough sides. It makes me more empathetic with her, not less.”

For Liz Garbus, the story of Nina Simone is a lot more than that of musical legend…

“When I scratched away at the surface, I realised there was this fascinating story about psychology, American history, the story of a prodigy, of mental illness and genius. It had so many elements that drew me to it.”

nina simone
Nina Simone's childhood dream was to perform at Carnegie Hall, a dream that came true

If one of the many hats Nina wore was that of social culture revolutionary, who are her comparable contemporaries? Liz ponders…

“There is no modern Nina Simone, just there’ll never be another James Brown or Miles Davis, but there are artists who are standing on her shoulders, and channelling that energy.

“When we opened in New York, Lauryn Hill performed for us, and she shares much of the same charisma and performance, because she’s volatile and you never know which way she’s going to go, which makes for a thrilling show. She’s also politically engaged, so it was an honour to have her there for the film.”

She’s closely followed by Paloma Faith at 6/4, after the singer was previously linked to a role.

A return from former coach Kylie Minogue doesn’t seem out of the question either, as she’s listed at 4/1.

Other possible coaches include FKA Twigs (4/1), Emeli Sande (6/1), Florence Welch (8/1), Jessie J (10/1), Adele (12/1) and Ellie Goulding (12/1).

Joining ‘The Voice’ would be the perfect revenge on ‘The X Factor’ for Nicole, as it was previously reported she’s had the chance to return blocked by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, owing to their long-running feud.

Axed judge Louis Walsh told The Sun: “Why won't she allow Simon to have Nicole on the panel? There's your f***ing story. That's the truth.

"Because Nicole's good. She won't sign if Nicole signs."

Suzi Perry has opened up about her potential future on the ‘Top Gear’ presenting team.

SEE MORE:

The Formula One presenter has been linked with a possible spot on the BBC motoring show when it returns for a new series next year, and has now admitted that there have been talks about her joining.

Speaking on Wednesday’s ‘This Morning’, Suzi told Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden: “You know what it's like when you work for a channel and you have conversations… but we don’t know what’s going to happen with that show.

“So until, as a broadcaster, you know what’s going to happen with the show, I don’t think you can really think very seriously about it.”

When quizzed about whether she was being considered for the presenting gig, she confessed: “I believe so... But I’m away twenty weeks a year doing Formula 1, so unless someone has invented 48 hours in a day - which may be you have actually... it would be pretty tough, I think, for me to do it.”

Following Jeremy Clarkson’s departure from the show, Chris Evans has been named as his replacement.

He has since expressed his enthusiasm to have a woman presenting alongside him on his new team, but also revealed that ‘Top Gear’ will be hosting open auditions, to find new recruits to join him on the show.

Jodie Kidd and Clare Balding are also among the female presenters to have been linked to a ‘Top Gear’ presenting role.

Fresh from her weekend in London and at Glastonbury, Kim Kardashian has revealed her latest professional endeavour, starring on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The reality TV star has been photographed for the shoot by the controversial Terry Richardson, and the accompanying interview sees her discuss everything from Kanye West and his creative influence, to Caitlyn Jenner’s transition.

Say what you like about Kim, but she knows how to pose for a magazine cover

Speaking of her husband, Kim explains: “Even if there's a project that I'm not working on with Kanye, I always get his input.

"I was sending him pictures today from the [photo] shoot and he was sending me back the sweetest messages. I value his opinion.

“There's no one more creative in my eyes. There's no one that gets the relevancy of pop culture [more than him]."

So far, the mag have only revealed the eye-catching cover snap, along with a few snippets from the main interview.

We have to admit though, Kim's cover is impressive, but not *quite* as show-stopping as Caitlyn's iconic Vanity Fair shoot.

Sorry Kim - but Caitlyn wins this one

Kim has spoken candidly about Caitlyn's transition in recent months, and has now revealed new details, stating that Caitlyn, who was living as Bruce at the time, explained her story four years ago.

Addressing when she first saw her step-parent dressed in women's clothing, Kim explains: "I was shaking. I didn't know if I'd just found out his deepest, darkest secret, and he was going to come after me."

It’s been quite the week for Kim and Kanye, following the ‘All Day’ rapper’s Glastonbury set, and he’s currently appearing on a cover of his own, for the music magazine Q.

Read Kim’s full Rolling Stone interview in the magazine, which is out now.

TV Review: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 'Season 5, Ep13'

Welcome to my brand new and exclusive Huff Post Reality TV blog!

I'm so excited to share my new blog with you, it's been a really exciting process for me and I hope you love the look and feel of it.

I am a super fan of the first show I will be covering - The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or RHOBH!!

Each Wednesday, I will provide you with my views on the latest RHOBH episode along with all the hottest gossip, insider knowledge plus news and rumours from other reality TV shows too.

'RHOBH' Season 5: Recap

This season on the elite world of the privileged housewives of Beverly Hills, there is quite the drama stirring! Between new cast members and an old sibling rivalry, we hardly have time to breathe between one dramatic moment and the next. (And personally, my favorite part of each season are the trips! When these women are forced to be confined in a certain space with each other for prolonged periods of time, it equals... #AllTheDrama)

My Top 5 Best Moments from Season 5 So Far:

• Poker Night Fight between Brandi and Kyle and the aftermath!!
• Kim and Brandi's 'fake air' kiss
• Fashion-wise, has to be Lisa Vanderpump's confessional outfit - She is rocking that elegant cleavage and her Gem Green gown
• Watching Porsche, Kyle's daughter shop and live the jet-setter life. Porsche is such a #BallerBaby!
• Biggest tear-jerker of the season is when all the moms sent their children off to college

Watch this exclusive clip containing all the best moments from Season 5 so far

Warning: There is a lot of gossip, bitching and fighting!

So there are lots of questions about what is to come! My biggest question, though, is always: who is going to be cut this season?

It seems like it's inevitable that everyone is on the chopping block at some point or other, and I always wonder who will be recast for next season. So it seems like all the ladies have good reason to step up their drama.

To be continued ...

Season 5, Ep13: 'Sister Act'

After the blow up at Kyle's gay mixer, the other women speculate about Brandi's influence over Kim. The ladies attend Eileen's movie premiere at a shopping center in the suburbs. Lisa Vanderpump is nervous when her son receives his genealogy test results. As Eileen brings the Richards sisters together to discuss their problems, Lisa Rinna questions Brandi about Kim's recent behavior.

All the women are talking about Brandi's influence over Kim, but personally I think Kim is using Brandi as a buffer or backup. Obviously she is responsible for her own actions; Kim blaming Brandi for her own decisions doesn't help anyone. Kim is an adult woman who can choose to act how she wants. So regardless of how much it seems like Brandi maybe is influencing Kim, Kim is on her own path.

Maybe Kim and Brandi are just more similar than people think. It's easier to blame Brandi than to blame Kim because one is more hurtful. I honestly think that in Brandi's mind, she is being a great friend to Kim. The real issue is that all the women have a problem with Brandi, not with Brandi's influence over Kim.

I don't think the women realize how important Eileen's movie was to her. It's hard to get any kind of movie! It was nice of them all to go and support her. Regardless, the women certainly used it as a chance to expose their true feelings about Brandi.

Lisa Vanderpump looks like her heart drops when Max tells her he has the genealogy results. I honestly think she was speechless. Lisa certainly has had anxiety and a little bit of fear that this would change her relationship with Max. I also think she was relieved that Max thought it was weird and foreign, confirming her status as his mom and filling that role. She is 1000% his mother.

There are also some showbiz rumors about the possibility of Lisa Vanderpump leaving Housewives of Beverly Hills. I'm not sure if it's true! But, after all, she does have her spin-off, Vanderpump Rules, and that seems to be her main priority. So I would think being on the Beverly Hills Housewives would only help her businesses, and not her other show. But then again, you never know -- she could be tired of the limelight, or at least this version of it. Lisa Vanderpump is one of the last original members of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast, so it would be very sad to see her go. The series certainly would not be the same without her.

I was shocked that Eileen took it upon herself to bring the Richards sisters together to discuss their problems. I understand that she just went through such hardship with her own sisters and maybe thought they needed a mediator. Eileen certainly had the right intentions. God bless her soul. Although as the conversation started to get deeper, I don't think Eileen was much help. It's safe to say little to no progress was made.

Also, as a side note: the funniest thing people don't remember is Kim was the one who was the meanest and hated Brandi the most when she joined the cast. They are certainly ironic BFFs.

On the other side of town, Lisa Rinna is having a completely different conversation with Brandi. I think it's finally a chance for Brandi to tell her side of the story and what's really going on with Kim. Kim is the one who needs her. Brandi continues to support Kim as a friend any way that she can or knows how to. Brandi was also able to voice her concerns about Kim and wanting to be there for her in a hard, low place. It seems like Brandi feels responsible for Kim's well-being.

Lisa does bring up some good points about Kim's sobriety and everyone keeping it a secret. I mean she is on a reality show, so it's hard to keep things a secret when you put your world in the spotlight. Brandi tries to be coy and not say much, but also inform everyone of Kim's state of being. The baton has been passed to Lisa R.

Season 5, Ep 14: Spoiler Alert!

I don't want to give too much away for the next episode... but Huff Post readers can expect some great drama from the 90210 wives.

Obviously, this is just the beginning of the drama between Kim, Kyle, Brandi, and whoever else gets in the line of fire. I think this is going to be the main theme of the next episode and maybe even the rest of the season. It seems like the last few seasons have revolved around Brandi and whoever is involved with her situations.

I'm sure the producers will also start slowly unraveling more and more of the new cast members' lives. We still don't know all there is to know about them and their dynamics on the show.

Introducing KIOKO

2015-06-29-1435588667-3046712-KIOKO.jpg

We haven't seen many bands emerge of late, then out comes a 7 piece all at once! Formed during the spring of 2008, but re-imagined in 2014, KIOKO are a group of sonically-synced musicians who basically want to blast your eardrums with their socially conscience, hook heavy brand of pop music, and have you loving it.

You guys have a very unique sound, who would you say are your influences?

We have a very strong musical influence from a lot of reggae artists, from Bob Marley and the other originators of the genre, to the wave of reggae that came out of Britain in the 70's such as Steel Pulse, to our contemporaries like Fat Freddy's Drop. We also have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for artists with a strong social message, from Marvin Gaye to Bob Dylan.

One of the most unique things about you guys apart from your sound is the fact that you're a very multi-cultural band; would you say that has an influence on your unique sound?

Definitely, we all have eclectic and varying music tastes from our own heritages, and because of that we all bring different ingredients to the table. We all love to share new musical discoveries with each other that excite us, and we regularly have these little 'listening sessions' in our rehearsal space where we can do that. It's a lot of fun.

Tell us about the moment you all came together and officially became KIOKO?

We originally performed under another name, but after all coming back from studying at universities across the country (still coming back for the odd gig of course) we decided the band had turned a corner and that it was time for a rebirth. We settled on the name KIOKO just under a year ago and that was that!

There is seven of you guys, tell us what roles each of you play in the band?

Matt is our lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Ewan is the backing vocalist and plays trumpet, Jon is another vocalist and plays lead guitar, Loz and Josh round out the horn section on trumpet and trombone. Ben and Tom are the rhythm section playing bass and drums.

The 'True What They Say' EP was produced by the legendary British reggae icon Spider Johnson, who also happens to be your mentor, how did this relationship between KIOKO and Spider Johnson come about?

We were extraordinarily lucky in getting hooked up with Spider through the Roundhouse in London, an organisation for which he does a lot of work. They chose us to be a part of their '30 for 30' project which let us team up with Spider to record a track in one of their studios over a couple of days. That was several years ago now, and since then Spider has taken us under his wing, sharing his invaluable musical knowledge with us and helping to guide us through the industry to get our music out there to the people. He's incredibly generous with his time and there is no question KIOKO would be an entirely different animal entirely without his influence.

The video for the leading track off the EP "Deadly Roots" has a really interesting concept, almost made in the style of a documentary, what is the message behind the song?

The message behind 'Deadly Roots' is all about not judging a book by its cover. In society we still see a lot of prejudice and preconception over where a person comes from, not just geographically but socially too. We thought the documentary style stock footage would be a good way of bringing home the message that judging a person based on their heritage, gender, socially, financial position or any other reason before you know their story has been happening for decades and it still is.

Most of your songs seems to have a strong message behind it, who would you guys love to make some meaningful music with if you had the chance?

We're all a fan of Young Fathers; their experimental-style production and lyricism are on point but the message behind the music is powerful too.

You have had the chance to perform with the likes of Tinie Tempah and The Specials and now you guys are preparing to go on tour next month, what can we expect to hear from KIOKO?

Performing with Tinie Tempah was amazing, the show was sold out with thousands in the audience. We were wary about performing as we thought the crowd might dislike our music but they really enjoyed it. It was a great feeling coming off stage knowing we properly warmed the stage up for him. Most people from the Midlands love Reggae and Ska as the these genres did and still bring many communities together. In 2006 after the band formed This Is England was released and there was a rise in the Rude Boy and Skinhead subcultures - which we were all a part of. So when we got offered to support The Specials you can believe how exciting it was for us, we took a lot of influence in the early days so it was an experience warming the crowd up for them.
You can expect an energetic live show and even choreographed dance moves from our brass section. New material that you will be singing for days and a feel good vibe that invites everyone into the KIOKO mentality.

What else can we expect from KIOKO this year?

We have a few festival dates coming up over the summer, including Soundwave in Croatia which we're particularly excited for. We also have a show in London's legendary venue Birthdays, details TBC. In terms of releases, we're following up last year's E.P with a new release, slated for release in the tail end of summer at the moment. All details for our upcoming shows and information on the new E.P can be found on our social media sites, so stay tuned!

Their Love Is Cool: How Wolf Alice Reclaimed British Indie

$
0
0
Somewhere between the cherry picker and cherry picking from Queen's back catalogue on Saturday night at Glastonbury, Kanye West informed the crowd he was the greatest rock star on the planet. Not even one of his bolder claims, it was enough to irk the dadrock contingent placated by a compensatory Sunday line-up topped by headliners The Who - themselves sneering at the idea from the same stage West had stood on 24 hours earlier.

At some point over the last decade, then - possibly just after The Libertines blew themselves out and before Kate Moss unveiled her first Top Shop collection - Britain's idea of a 'Rock Star" became a one-note caricature. A previously alternative lifestyle was hijacked for the high street and infused by - at the very least - a deep-rooted conservatism and, where attitudes to West are concerned, possibly something far worse.

Over a similar if not greater period the same fate has befallen 'Indie' music. Originally a genuine refuge from the mainstream Top 40, the indie chart's pomp came some 25 years ago when bands preferred to focus on their footwear rather than the top ten. Compiled entirely from the sales of records on independent labels it eventually produced a predominant sound of its own - gazey, wavey, ravey - you knew it when you heard it. Indie music was wonderfully unfocused and all the more mesmerizing as a result. It eyed success with deep suspicion, if it eyed it at all.

Rotated with the Rock and the Dance charts on Channel 4's (then ITV's) The Chart Show and shown once every three weeks it was a completely different beast to the national top ten, yet amusingly still had to suffer quirks like Kylie being No.1 on a technicality (Stock, Aitken & Waterman's label PWL was as independent as anyone else's) much to the frustration of fans waiting for the new Chapterhouse video.

Over the next few years this awkward standoff between indie and pop melted away and strangely (as well as being genuinely mind-blowing at the time) indie briefly had the upper hand in the national charts - probably right up until the release of Wannabe in June 1996 - though by this point it's sound had been contorted to fit the mass mainstream audiences still up for grabs in a pre-internet age.

By the time the next wave of British indie came along in 2004 its link to actual independent labels - increasingly tenuous in the 90s - had loosened further and despite the arrival of bright sparks such as Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party the genre was increasingly becoming short hand for blokes, haircuts and skinny jeans - with the results largely horrific.

It's mostly been diminishing returns ever since with much head-scratching and investigations into where "real" music went coupled with failed attempts to "save" guitar music and hand-wringing inquests asking "where have all the rock stars gone?" So when the Wolf Alice record dropped last week it felt like the last twenty years had never happened for a variety of reasons.

Their male/female dynamic feels refreshing - not a contrived industry attempt to cash-in on a Fleetwood Mac revival - but instead coming across as purely incidental in the same way no one particularly considers the gender of The XX. And, like the latter, lead vocals are up for grabs with drummer Joel Amery delivering on the never-more-indie-titled Swallowtail (starting like one of The Vines more reflective moments before an explosive & swirling Ride-esque finale)

Much like Jamie XX's recent debut, the album gathers momentum as it goes on and the blinkered short-termism of front-loading albums with radio friendly hits (an indie practice peaking with The Killers Hot Fuss ten years ago) is finally abandoned here for a desire to stretch a diverse if familiar sound across all 12 songs and trust the listener to stay with them more than they might, say, the lazy critic. And diverse it is - not only from track to track but sometimes in the space of one song - journeying from Wilson Phillips to MIA as they do on Silk.

Five years in the making, importantly My Love Is Cool came out when it was ready - an organic process that saw changes in both line-up and musical direction along the way yet tellingly this hasn't damaged them. Just a decade ago a new band's success was still time-sensitive and not delivering to either the NME or Radio 1 at the critical moment could prove fatal. Wolf Alice's ability to be patient at peak-hype suggests a brave new world awaits alternative bands that want to get it right, one not solely dictated by gatekeepers.

Elsewhere there are signs things are changing. When the aforementioned Ride headlined Field Day last month, Andy Bell cut a liberated figure lost in a sonic din, free of the need for overt rock star swagger. It suited him. Both Q and NME have Kanye on their cover in newsstands currently for the first time suggesting that a grow-your-own Liam policy might now not be the only route forward.

If nothing else Wolf Alice represent an opportunity to finally re-think what a British "indie rock star" might be and, on an album that travels all the way from The Cocteau Twins to The XX in one sitting, a chance to overlook a lot of what's been forgettable - and regrettable - in between.

'Don't Tell The Bride': 30 Things That Are Guaranteed To Happen During Every Episode

$

'Don't Tell The Bride' - the show which sees the groom plan a wedding - has divorced its long-term partner BBC Three, and married a new one, after cosying up to BBC One. If you haven't seen the show before, let us explain to you how it works...

  1. As the couple are introduced, we learn that the bride has got the usual dream wedding in her head - an idyllic venue, a swanky reception and a dress she’s had picked out since she was a child.

  2. At first, the groom seems committed to giving his one true love what she wants, but it doesn’t take long before it becomes clear he has VERY different ideas about the wedding.

  3. dont tell the bride

  4. The couple are then separated and the bride moves out of their house. The first thing the groom does? Invite his pals round and get absolutely mortal.

  5. Wedding planning then begins with the mother of all hangovers, and a brainstorming session with the best man leads to a God-awful theme being chosen for the event.

  6. photo i-feel-like-shit1_zpsd7ea5ec2.gif

  7. The lads set to work on finding a venue, just as the bride goes to show her family the type of place she’d like to get married. Needless to say, the two ideas are never the same.

  8. The bride then goes to the wedding shop with her best girls and falls in love with her dream dress.

  9. dont tell the bride

  10. Meanwhile, the groom is in another wedding shop across town, sometimes even using his best man to model the dress.

  11. dont tell the bride

  12. And ultimately he picks out a dress completely the opposite to what the bride will like, and we all fear for his safety.

  13. Attention then turns to the stag and hen dos, and the groom plans a blowout to end all blowouts for him and his pals.

  14. But the bride’s night is a very different story, and nine times out of then, the hen party will end up up sober, disappointed and home by 11pm, having been forced to foot most of the bill for the evening.

  15. After then buying suits for him and the groomsmen, the groom has blown his budget, but has forgotten one crucial thing - bridesmaids dresses.

  16. This then results in a quick rummage round the sale rail in Debenhams to find something that vaguely resembles something wedding-esque.

  17. The groom then faces a revolt when he presents the bridesmaids with what they will be wearing.

  18. dont tell the bride

  19. He’s then bullied into changing the dresses, having to phone mum/grandma to beg for some extra cash to buy them.

  20. As the wedding day draws closer, the bride goes to collect her dress, and there are tears. So many tears.

  21. dont tell the bride

  22. But usually, within five minutes, she’s come around the the monstrosity after her family and friends do their best to convince her to wear it.

  23. But then, it’s all thrown into chaos again when the bride realises the groom hasn’t bought her any shoes.

  24. Cue one of the bridesmaids putting in a call to the groom, followed by screaming, which is then followed by a mad dash to a discount shoe shop.

  25. As the big day itself arrives, the groom is rushing around like a blue-ass fly putting the finishing touches to the venue.

  26. Meanwhile, the bride realises that there is no make up artist or hairdresser on their way, so resentfully begins to do her own.

  27. She’s then presented with the sight of her bridesmaids in their dresses, and detests the colour of them.

  28. dont tell the bride

  29. As she gets ready to leave the house, the horse and cart she was hoping for doesn’t turn up, and instead a Ford Focus with some ribbons on is what's on the driveway.

  30. After some persuasion to get in the car, the journey takes a sour turn as they drive past the church she’s dreamed of getting married in since she was a child, and she realises that it’s not the venue.

  31. After an hour’s journey, the bride arrives at her destination and can think nothing but “what the f*** was he thinking?”

  32. But as she tearfully walks down the aisle and sets eyes on the groom who she hasn’t seen in three weeks, all is forgiven.

  33. The couple say “I do” and head to the reception venue, where the full horror of the theme the groom has chosen is unveiled.

  34. However, shockingly the bride totally loves it. It’s often the emotion of the day impairing all sense of taste, judgement and decency.

  35. The drinks begin to flow and the endless alcohol begins to drown out just how terrible the party is.

  36. The bride then tells the groom how amazingly he’s done and how she wouldn’t change anything about the day, and we all fail to believe her.

  37. dont tell the bride

  38. 30. As the credits roll, we think to ourselves, “I give it six months”.

'Don't Tell The Bride' airs Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One.

A second trailer for the new Steve Jobs film, set to come out in October, has been released giving audiences a flavour of the types of controversial storylines they can expect from the movie.

The film, which features Michael Fassbender as Jobs appears to place a lot of focus on the Apple mastermind's private life as well as his seemingly cut throat approach to business.

In comparison to the first trailer that was released in May, the latest clip shows off writer Aaron Sorkin's ( The Social Network) script.

The preview opens with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who is played by Seth Rogan, questioning Jobs:

"What do you do?

"You're not an engineer, You're not a designer, You can't put a hammer to a nail. I built the circuit board, the graphical interface was stolen. So how come, ten times in day I read Steve Job is a genius. What do you do?"

To which Fassbender responds:

"Musician play their instruments, I play the orchestra."
