'The Apprentice' Fired Candidate Jenny Garbis Says People Will Be Very Disappointed And Shocked She's Not This Year's Winner

This week’s fired 'Apprentice' Jenny Garbis claims that lots of people will be shocked by her dismissal by Lord Sugar, telling HuffPostUK: “Lots of people were betting on me to win.”

READ MORE:

The third candidate to leave this year’s show claims one of her friends was so convinced she would be crowned this year’s winner, they had even put a bet on her securing victory - to the tune of £5,000!

“Plus, a few of the other candidates also told me they were worried about seeing me in the final,” she adds.

Jenny herself is pretty shocked by her abrupt dismissal, after she stood up for herself in the boardroom against her teammates Vana and Elle of the ladies' Team Connexus, after they'd failed spectacularly in what Karren Brady called "a shambles" of a task.

Project manager Vana had accused Jenny of being “dead weight” during the day’s challenge, which had involved negotiating to buy a list of items from both sides of the English Channel.

the apprentice
Elle, Vana and Jenny were left fighting for survival in the boardroom, after their task was dubbed "a shambles"

And Lord Sugar told her, “Jenny, you didn’t buy anything and quite frankly, all I’ve heard from you is excuses why this didn’t work and why that hasn’t gone well… I’ve yet to see any kind of actual achievements or anything that one can actually pin down to you and say that was very very good so… Jenny…you’re fired.’’

Jenny disagrees. “I was very strong,” she says now. “I tried to help the team by choosing more difficult items. I’d thought I’d be a good negotiator, but I ended up being given the mussels to buy - even after it was impossible to source mussels on the English side at that time of the day.

the apprentice
Jenny says she wasn't there to compete with other people, she just wanted to get her business plan to Lord Sugar

“I don’t think Vana should have left the competition, but she was definitely concentrating more on the French half of the team. Elle should probably have gone home, because I don’t think she managed her half of the team well.

“And I think the audience are going to be disappointed that I was fired, because I’m a really strong candidate.”

Despite her sense that the cards did not fall her way, Jenny says now she wasn’t really bothered about the competition part of the show, she just wanted Lord Sugar to see her business plan.

“I’m not interested in competing with all the other people, that’s not why I was there, perhaps that was my downfall.”

So, without Jenny to worry them in the next few weeks, who does she think has the makings of a winner this year?

“Joseph,” she decides. “He’s blunt but in a good way. He put Richard in his place this week. And Scott is strong. Richard would be a success, whether he’s in this show or not."

There are now 15 candidates left in this year’s competition. Who do you think looks like they’re on their way to becoming a successful Apprentice?

Ola Jordan’s raunchy calendars have been somewhat of a talking point recently, but the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional has now spoken out to defend them.

READ MORE:

It had been claimed BBC bosses had told her to tone down her sexy image, but the star has stood by her decision to pose naked, having just unveiled her most revealing calendar yet.

"I love doing my calendars. I work really hard on the way I look,” she told The Mirror.

"I had a massive injury last year and I worked really hard to come back to the show,” she said, referring to surgery she had on her knee, following an accident in training for Channel 4’s ‘The Jump’.

"There's too much focus on the negative rather than the positive. I didn't even know if I'd be able to work again."

She added that reports the BBC had asked her to stop doing such photoshoots due to Strictly’s family-friendly reputation, were “rubbish”.

Her husband James Jordan also added: "You're only young once. It's not hurting anybody, she's not doing anything she shouldn't be. You can't say it's not child friendly because children are on Instagram all day long and they can look at this sort of stuff.

"It's not on the show and it's not publicised by the show."

However, Ola’s return to ‘Strictly’ was dealt a blow when she became the first professional dancer to leave the competition, after her routines with partner Iwan Thomas failed to impress the judges and the voting public.

James, who was fired from ‘Strictly’ last year, recently claimed that he belived the BBC were trying to oust her from the show, telling The Sun: “They always seem to release negative stories about Ola. It’s almost like they are trying to set it up so that they don’t need to ask her back next year.”

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues on Saturday (24 October) on BBC One.

Spoiler alert! Do NOT read on if you don’t wish to know who the killer is…

The plot has also seen the deaths of Rick Spencer, Will Savage, Mariam Andrews, Phoebe McQueen and Dylan Jenkins, while Ashley Davidson and Dr S'Avage were also bumped off by Lindsey earlier this week.

Reacting to the big reveal, actress Sophie Austin, who plays Lindsey, said: "It’s quite nice knowing stuff other people don't know. I couldn't have asked for a better storyline so I'm pleased!"

Goldie Hawn has revealed how ‘Loose Women’ bosses banned her from wearing a low-cut top on the show.

READ MORE:

The actress recently appeared on the ITV lunchtime chat show as a guest panellist and had planned to wear an outfit she had already picked out beforehand, but was told she needed to dress more conservatively.

Speaking on Alan Carr’s ‘Chatty Man’, Goldie explained: “I was about to go on and they said ‘You can’t wear this and you can’t wear that and you can’t wear any low cut’.

“It’s their rules, I totally get it. But I did not bring anything like that.

“I thought ‘Why did not I get this information earlier?’

“It’s not like I come over with a trunk – like the old days.

“I threw a bunch of things in the suitcase. I had one dress and it is black and purple so I wore that.”

During her appearance on ‘Loose Women’ earlier this month, Goldie slammed marriage as she opened up about her unmarried relationship with Kurt Russell.

"We'd been married before (to other people), it didn't work, so why do it again,” she said.

“And marriage ends up being a business deal, because at the end of a marriage, no matter how long or short it is, somebody owes somebody money.”

She added of Kurt: "We're all different, you enter a relationship with a fingerprint that's all your own, and you want to be able to know how to match your fingerprint to somebody else's, and it doesn't.

"So you work around it, you find the things that are working for you, and things that aren't working for you, and we go through stages of our lives. So we have to be very self-aware, and very reflective and extremely empathetic toward the other person, and forgiving."

‘Loose Women’ airs weekday at 12.30pm on ITV.

Amber Rose Slams GQ Magazine For ‘Ignorant S***' Over Editorial Published With Her Naked Photoshoot

All-round queen and ‘How To Be A Bad Bitch’ author Amber Rose has slammed GQ, criticising a section of text that ran alongside her recent cover interview and photoshoot.

Amber was less than delighted with the publication, and had no qualms about calling them out for their “ignorant shit” on Instagram.

Next to a picture of their introduction to her interview, Amber wrote: “Really @gq??? I'm so much more then Kanye's Ex or Wiz's baby's mama. Damn, why the fuck did u guys reach out to me for this article and photoshoot? To dumb me down?

“I talked about feminism and my Slutwalk... Wtf nice title smh I expected so much more from u guys and I'm so disappointed.”

A photo posted by Amber Rose (@amberrose) on

“I was so excited to be featured in GQ not realizing I was shooting for a tabloid,” she continued. “My slutwalk was for ignorant shit like this. Oh "Her beautiful dark twisted journey to the top"? Nice pun. Negative af. Thx for nothing.”

The GQ passage in question, which can be seen in the snap above, reads:

“Amber Rose wrote the book on it. No, seriously: Kanye’s infamous ex, Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama, America’s toughest bald babe since Sigourney Weaver in Alien 3, is about to publish a book of life lessons called How to Be a Bad Bitch. Like Amber herself, it’s all heart. Unlike Amber, it’s not that thick! The teen stripper turned megalomaniac muse spoke to Carrie Battan about her beautiful dark twisted journey to the top."

Amber Rose has recently used her celebrity status to do good, and at the VMAs she addressed slut-shaming, donning an eye-catching one-piece, covered in words including ‘slut’ and ‘bitch’.

Explaining her outfit to MTV news, Amber stated: “We [Amber and her pal Blac Chyna] just got to a point in our lives where we’re sick of getting ridiculed for loving men and being sexual beings and just being sexy women in general.

“And we constantly get called these names and now we just got to a point where we don’t give a fuck and we’re embracing all the slut shaming, all the name calling. And hoes be winning.”

One Direction Have No Plans For Future, Admits Simon Cowell - Will That One-Year Hiatus Really Last One Year Only?

One Direction fans seeking any kind of guarantee that their favourite boyband are set to return from what has been billed a temporary break following their current tour and forthcoming album, probably won't enjoy what their mentor Simon Cowell has to say on the matter.

The boys are planning to set down microphones following their final concert in Sheffield at the end of this month, and they will have one final hurrah with promotional duties for their album 'Made in the A.M.' - scheduled for release on 13 November - but from March 2016, there is nothing in the diary.

one direction
One Direction have been tirelessly touring and recording for the past five years

Now, despite reassurances that the hiatus is for one year only, Simon Cowell has hinted that there are currently no plans as to what happens next, stressing how tired all four boys are following their epic five-year stint as the world's most in-demand boyband.

"I think they've got to take some time off," he told 'Good Morning Britain'. "I mean, that schedule after five years was unbelievable, and it's not until they stop, that's when they're going to realise how tired they are."

Simon's words come after the band had to cancel a gig in Belfast this week due to Liam Payne being taken suddenly ill, only minutes before the quartet were scheduled on stage. Although he well enough to appear the following night, it's a sign that a rest cannot come soon enough for all four, who have crossed the world many times over in efforts to satisfy their global fanbase.

one direction
Simon Cowell has been steering the band since they formed in 2010, but he admits he has no idea what the plan is

"They're going to decide what they want to do next," said Simon, who had to admit, "I don't think any of them have got a plan right now."

This might come as a disappointment to one of them, at least, with Louis Tomlinson admitting freely that he'd like to join the 'X Factor' lineup next year, following his guest stint on the show this weekend. Simon revealed that Louis was feeling "really, really nervous" about his debut on the other side of the judging panel. Louis and his bandmates found fame following their appearances on the 2010 series of the talent show, when Nicole Scherzinger came up with the bright idea of putting him together with four other lads who'd all failed to get through on their solo auditions.

Simon will have his hands full, anyway, over the next couple of months, with his 2014 winner Ben Haenow set to release his album, including a compilation with Kelly Clarkson, AND the highly-anticipated album from Fleur East. Fleur came second to Ben, but arguably stole the entire series with her rendition of Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk. She is also signed to Simon Cowell's label.

How I Plan To Stay 'Fresh Dressed' This Weekend

Ever bought (or in my case, made) an outfit with no place to wear it to? Sometimes a nightclub or bar is not open long enough for you to really show off your apparel. Well this weekend from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th October, I found just the place for my new garments to be admired at length, at a movie screening, aptly entitled Fresh Dressed!

Fresh Dressed is a fascinating chronicle of hip-hop, urban fashion, and the hustle that brought over-sized trousers and graffiti-drenched jackets from the street to high fashion's catwalks and Middle America shopping malls. Director Sacha Jenkins' music-drenched history draws from a rich mix of archival materials and in-depth interviews with rappers, designers, and other industry insiders.

The 89 min film features Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Nas (also the films producer), Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, Damon Dash, André Leon Talley, A$AP Rocky, Marc Ecko, Big Daddy Kane, Kid 'N Play & many others.

To celebrate the special London screening, We Are Parable have created "The History of Fresh" on the 24th -25th October, a weekender that will chronicle the relationship streetwear has with popular culture in the US and here, in the UK.
The film will have in-depth interviews featuring Pharrell, Kanye and this is one film I personally don't want to miss! The Fresh Dressed weekender will also have a panel discussion with some of the UK's most prominent streetwear experts, many of whom I grew up wearing their garments, and now look up to in the fashion business.

Wale Adeyemi MBE (Founder of B-Side), Marc Hare (Founder of Mr Hare), Richard Mkomola (Designer Sean John, Fila and Puma)
Angela Phillips (Founder of 677Fly Creative), Claudine Rousseau (London College of Fashion) and Thomas Elliott (London College of Fashion) will be the guests speaking. One question I wish to pose to the panel is the obvious influences of US culture in UK during the 80's to late 90's and then vice versa during the 2000's.

Now, after a lot of talking and debating, I'm going to need to be entertained! From 5pm Saturday evening, at The Brewhouse, (formally known as London Fields Brewery).Richard 'Rich Blk' Mkmola, will curate an immersive night of fashion and music celebrating upcoming designer and customisation talent in the UK. The night will then round off featuring audio and visual performances from Vision Bombing and Foreign Bodies Orchestra.
I hear they'll be a dope photographer called Visual Marvelry taking snaps so I'll make sure I edge up in the frame so he can get my fly attire!

Finally, I plan to close my weekender of dressing fresh on Sunday 25th October with a let-your-hair-down good time vibe at Got Soul's "Dressed Up", at Juno Bar Shoreditch. It's billed as a night out that wants you to dress your freshest, while you listen to some classic hip hop by some of the artists featured from the Fresh Dressed movie.
So, i'll catch a film on the history of dressing fresh, have a Q&A session with some UK fashion icons, listen and watch some amazing acts and fashion designers before ending with a party, all while looking fresh to def!

Ross Barton was responsible for shooting Robert Sugden, ‘Emmerdale’ viewers discovered on Thursday night.

In the run-up to the episode, there were plenty of suspects in the frame, but Ross was finally outed as the guilty character.

Who saw THAT coming?

All was revealed in the hour-long flashback special, which saw the night of the shooting in full.

In the run-up to the big event, Andy Sugden and Ross Barton bonded over their hatred for their brothers, as Ross attempted to get Andy to kill Pete, promising that he would murder the evil Robert.

In the end, Andy agreed to the plan, and a masked Ross gunned down Robert as he argued with Chas.

As promised, the episode also included a number of other shocks, and fans on Twitter were left stunned when we saw Paddy Kirk cheat on Rhona.

Naturally, the turn of events didn't go down well on Twitter:

In the evening's regular episode, viewers saw Robert finally wake up in hospital, a month after being gunned down, and unable to remember what had happened to him.

Speaking ahead of the flashback episode, Ryan Hawley who plays Robert promised plenty of drama, teasing other details of what was to come.

“There are other stories starting with other characters who you wouldn't expect and their whereabouts [are] going to be revealed tonight as well,” he said during an appearance on ‘Lorraine’. “The episode is fantastic."

No Less a Woman

When you think of breasts, what is the first word that comes to your mind?

When you search for 'breast' on Google, the first suggested result to come up is 'breast cancer'. Not 'breastfeeding', not 'sexy', but 'cancer'. That only confirms how aware we are now of breast cancer. Today, as many as one in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer, which means many of us have a mother, daughter, sister or friend with the disease.

2015-10-20-1445349834-9471766-Screenshot2015102011.44.09.png

I always knew that one aspect of creating Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories would be doing my part to provoke more awareness of breast cancer. But I couldn't have anticipated just how profoundly important it would be to me after meeting and interviewing the women who took part. Their stories were especially moving. Nothing puts your own problems, big or small, into perspective like someone else's life or death story.

It was important to me to include women from all walks of life and, for women who have had breast cancer, that meant a range of experiences, mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction, no reconstruction. I was captivated by this woman's beautiful mastectomy tattoo. It hid her scar, a painful reminder of loss, at the same time owning it in the strongest way. She was part of the inspiration for my first tattoo! I felt compelled to do something to mark my body, mark it as mine, decorate my skin with a beautiful statement.

2015-10-20-1445353147-37958-SJH.jpg

"I don't think I could have come to terms with my 'battle scar' as easily without the tattoo. It would have taken a lot longer to look in the mirror and feel okay about the scar where the boob was. It makes a statement and it's pretty to look at. I'm proud of it. I want people to realise you don't have to hide away just because you've had breast cancer."
From Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories

I was intrigued to be invited by Stella McCartney to collaborate on a new project, No Less a Woman, to raise awareness of breast cancer. I wanted to jump at the chance to extend the Bare Reality project and do more for breast cancer awareness, but I had stipulations. Would Stella be happy with un-airbrushed photographs of breast cancer scars on her website? Yes. Would she publish the women's words, no matter what they said? Yes. Brave decisions.

2015-10-20-1445368035-8998336-Screenshot2015102019.48.11.png

I photographed and interviewed 12 anonymous women who have survived breast cancer, in exactly the same style as the Bare Reality book. That meant no airbrushing, no pink-washed sugar coating. The images are gentle but entirely honest. Just seeing a normal pair of boobs is shocking for some people (as I found out after Bare Reality was published) let alone the raw, un-airbrushed truth of breast cancer scars. How often do we see photographs which, while gentle and sympathetic, also present the un-airbrushed reality of breast cancer? And on the website of one of the world's leading fashion brands?

"I want women to know if you lose a breast, you are still a woman, beautiful inside and out."
#nolessawoman

The loss of a breast, or a scar, the diagnosis, treatment and recovery will mean different things to different women - we are individual, complex, nuanced. I wanted to tell these women's stories and share the brave, sad, painful, moving and sometimes even funny truth. This is how they look. This is how they feel.

"Cancer was like an unwanted house guest, it made a mess, had parties, then went."
#nolessawoman

I am proud of this collaboration which takes a tender, truthful and inspiring look at the lives and bodies of women with breast cancer. It's a bold and beautiful direction for a fashion house to take, I think it will probably surprise people. Lots of love to Stella for having the heart to do this with me, and to the 12 wonderful women who took part.

Hello Sweet Art: Fighting for Our Right to Be Remembered

$
0
0
My week in culture starts with a film that I loved so much that I probably never need to see a film ever again.

Suffragette (12A)

What it is: Probably my dream film ever in life

When I was in year eight we had to do an RE project on people who have changed the world. Everyone was doing Gandhi or Martin Luther King. I remember I had to specifically ask if it was okay to do mine on the suffragettes. And that is what I bloody did.

I remember thinking at the time what amazing women they were, but I never really connected with what they were fighting for and everything that they had been excluded from. Because thanks to them, they sorted it for women like me to never shut up.

That is why this film is moving and empowering beyond words and afterwards I had a little cry in the toilet. These are our foremothers and finally their story is being told on the same scale as all the other men who have changed history (because they were allowed to).

Carey Mulligan plays Maud, a timid woman who gradually becomes a militant suffragette, and we see the moment that she switches. She delivers a clear testimony on her life of stoical suffering, and when she is ignored, what she conveys on her face is multitudinous. We then watch as realms of her participation are knocked down like dominoes: first politically, then economically, then socially, then domestically.

The film also taps into the strange history of male shame that is associated with female empowerment. Maud's husband cannot see the human in Maud's politics - he can just see his own humiliation. Think of that moment in Made in Dagenham when one of the striker's husbands commits suicide.

Every human needs to watch this. It's brilliant and vital, but there's also a scene with an iron that will make you want to jump out of your seat and cheer.

Life Moves Pretty Fast by Hadley Freeman

What it is: A highly readable guide to why these films were acceptable in the 80s - but definitely wouldn't be now

I grew up with an entirely different generation of films to Hadley Freeman, so I have spent a lot time as an adult hate-watching the films I used to enjoy like a giant vulnerable passive egg. My thoughts on 90s classic Sliding Doors are on the internet at length, as are my hopes and dreams for the romantic comedies of the future.

But whereas I have re-watched the films from my youth and realised they were generally awful, offensive conservative propaganda, Freeman's book shows that '80s films reveal themselves, with hindsight, to have huge social consciences as well as be amazing fun.

I was aware that Dirty Dancing and When Harry Met Sally made me feel all of the feelings, but it wasn't until I read Freeman's funny and intelligent polemic on the brilliance of 80s movies that I realised how radical they look compared to what we see on our screens today.

I recently watched a film on Netflix called Love Rosie. It was made in 2014, and when the female protagonist got knocked up she literally went 'I can't have an abortion because my parents are Catholic', and subsequently watched her whole life derail whilst the love of her life went to America and slept with loads of interchangeable blonde supermodels. If only I had remembered before I threw my laptop out of the window that I could have cleansed my palate with Dirty Dancing, where women can have abortions and enjoy casual sex without being cast out of society.

What Freeman also brilliantly does is explain all of the reasons why films have changed: the conglomeration of studios, the pressures of the market, the rise of things like internet streaming. It's tough, but we need the new Nora Ephron to get her films made NOW, so Hollywood, this is a watermelon that you are just going to have to try harder to carry.

Plaques and Tangles, Royal Court Upstairs

What it is: A play marking the before and after and in-between of a woman with early-onset Alzheimers

Nicola Wilson's writing is ambitious. It tries to disorientate us and put us in the mind of Megan, who is losing hers far too young. It also helps us understand what it is like to be part of a family caring for someone who can't remember what day it is.

And it's a bit much. There's just a bit too much going on. The production gives us ladies with long white hair emerging from ethereal staircases and glowing globes popping out of mattresses, and we don't need all of that.

Because the scenes that work the best for me are with the younger Megan, meeting her future husband on the hen night for a wedding she will never have, on the day she has found out she has this condition. There's something about watching this unbearably intelligent, charismatic young woman with the world at her feet and knowing that one day, through no fault of her own, she will not be able to formulate sentences, that is poignant and enraging. Because whilst it is moving to see the disintegration that will later befall her, it strikes me as more heartbreaking to see what she will lose, rather than simply to see her lost.

Ai Weiwei, Royal Academy

What it is: A collection of works from Chinese artist Ai Weiwei's career, exploring censorship and human rights

Sometimes I can't tell if I just don't like art, or if I don't like this art.

There is something about personality cult artists that feels very alienating. When people are queuing out of the door to look at things that you don't necessarily connect to, it feels like there's a neon sign on your head that says P H I L I S T I N E.

I wanted Ai Weiwei's exhibition to feel more political than it did. That's me projecting my own expectations. But being at this exhibition felt like there was more spectacle in watching the devoted and frenzied following that has grown around the man himself, rather than the work.

But on the other hand maybe I'm just a P H I L I S T I N E.

Suffragette is in cinemas now
Life Moves Pretty Fast is out now and published by 4th Estate

We Must Talk About Multiple Sclerosis More

$

Over the past eight years, I've become more educated about multiple sclerosis (MS) from the people around me. First, from my wonderful mum, Sandra, who was diagnosed around 10 years into the development of her MS. Then in 2012 my former producer, Beccy, was introduced to the possibility of MS live on air during one of our shows.

MS isn't talked about a lot, so when my mum was diagnosed, it was a relief at first. I know that sounds awful - nobody wants their mum to be ill, but until she was diagnosed we thought it was a brain tumour. She was feeling numb down one side of her body, and was constantly describing herself as feeling 'fuzzy'.

It was a terrifying time, and when the results came back, we were faced with something that we weren't quite sure of. We knew it wasn't treatable, but it was manageable, and I know my mum's been pushing herself every day since to work around it. Mum was 54 when she was diagnosed, and even then the doctor said she'd probably been developing her particular type of MS (primary progressive MS) for 10 years.

I can't imagine what it's been like for my mum, to be honest. I think as a family we've learned to adjust really well, and her positive attitude is absolutely incredible. She moved into a bungalow this year so she doesn't have to tackle the stairs any more, but she's now just across the road from my brother. That means they can see each other as much as they like, and he's always there if she needs any help.

For my producer and good friend, Beccy, it was even more of a shock. She'd been feeling unwell for a while and I mentioned it on air. All of a sudden, we had texts coming in from people who had MS, or knew people who did, and all of them were encouraging her to go to the doctor. We just couldn't believe it. When the show was over, we made Beccy go to the doctors, and soon after she was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS. She was just 30.

I don't feel like MS is talked about enough. There are people who still think that it's something that only happens once you're older - to people like my mum - but you just have to look at Beccy to know that's not the case. I think I'm very privileged to have a platform to be able to talk about MS, and if me talking about it in the press makes someone go and get checked, or just generally raises awareness, that's all I can ask for.

The MS Society does incredible work, and it's been such a source of support for my family and thousands of other families across the UK. I'm really happy to be able to support them even further by becoming an ambassador this year, and I really hope that I can help make a difference.

The Apprentice Series 11 Episode 3: An Insiders View

Ok so this episode was a combination of two of my favourite parts of The Apprentice. The abroad part and the scavenger hunt. Essentially the task is the most simple. Find everything on the list for the cheapest price. The team that doesn't gets penalised. The penalty is £50 plus the retail price of the items. The most obvious thing to me would therefore be to secure the most expensive items first, with the idea if you run out of time you will incur less penalties. It is surprising how often you run out of time in TV land while carting an 8 man production crew per team around with you. Anyway no one seemed to cotton onto that as a strategy.

They kept the boys Vs girls format, obviously a production decision based on the fact a nice amount of tension was being displayed among the girls.

Long story short, lack of organisation on the girls team and some hasty decisions cost them. One thing that's key in business is planning particularly when it comes to logistics. I realise its a high pressured situation and time wasn't on their side but a deep breath and some more thought would probably have stood them in better stead.

The boys team celebrated heavily at every deal, it would have been highly embarrassing had they not won. But they did and convincingly too.

Now one controversy in this episode for me was the rubber dingy vs the real dingy. Now I think the boys team used their initiative and it paid off Lord Sugar praised them in the boardroom. However I see no distinction between that and the skeletongate scenario that saw Felipe fired in 2014. Just proof that if your card is pre marked you are gone, in my opinion.

I have to admit I was much more engaged by this episode, dare I even say slightly enjoyed it. You are starting to see peoples characters come out now; the good and the bad.

Elle got some respect from me this task, she didn't do everything right but she owned that. The problem for her is she's young and doesn't seem to be able to inspire the confidence of her team mates and for that reason I don't think she will make it all the way.

Josef's 'pretty ladies in France' comment would have earned him an earful from me if I was in ear shot. However I think he's the sort of cheeky chappy Lord Sugar will see something of himself in (even if he doesn't someone will definitely use that line) and he will provide entertainment which all too much is the BBCs primary objective.

Gary and Charlene each secured a good deal, its not about standing out the loudest but consistently contributing so they are doing well so far.

Jenny who was fired this week had to go, not necessarily for the performance in the task. There were a few that could have gone on that basis. It was the claim that she would to better by herself than with the team, shortly followed by failure to deliver that sealed her fate.

Its hard to work out if Selina is being picked on or really isn't pleasant like her team mates say. One aside she made right at the end seemed to suggest we were going to find out pretty soon.

Anyway for more of my options, head over to my YouTube channel where I post my video reviews. Excuse the poor quality of this one. I really wanted to get it out ASAP. http://youtube.com/c/misslaurenriley

Things are hotting up which I'm pleased about I was starting think id have to read the paper the next day and blog about that as the first two episodes were rather dull.

Daniel Craig was left seriously unimpressed during an interview on ‘This Morning’ on Thursday when he was asked to pout for the camera.

READ MORE:

The James Bond star was being interviewed about the latest 007 movie ‘Spectre’ by the daytime show’s entertainment reporter Sarah Powell, when she asked the actor to recreate his moody pout.

Despite giving a flat ‘no’ to the request the bemused star then shut the persistent interviewer down by telling her to ‘move on’.

Awkward.

The chat also touched on Bond's dressing gown, how many polo necks he wore, the Milk Tray Man and errrrm what Bond villain he would play.

Even poor old Phillip Schofield couldn’t quite believe how badly the interview had gone.

"We rushed that interview over and edited that quickly, I'm sure you would have taken out the pout stuff if we hadn't," he told viewers.

And the viewers agreed, taking to Twitter once they’d unraveled their toes…

Maybe this is what Sarah was on about...

The wait is finally over! Adele’s new video for her comeback single ‘Hello’ has arrived.

READ MORE:

The song got its first play on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 Breakfast show on Friday morning, and the video for the single appeared online just minutes later.

The 27-year-old singer filmed the gorgeous black and white clip in the countryside around Montreal earlier this year.

Earlier this week, Adele described her new album '25' – the follow up to the 30 million-selling '21' – as a "make up record".

In an open letter to her fans, which she shared on Twitter and Facebook, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer describes what inspired her to write her third album.

“My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record,” she explains.

“I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did or never did.

"But I haven't got time to hold onto the crumbs of my past like I used to. What's done is done."

Watch the full video for 'Hello' above.

As promised, the ‘Emmerdale’ flashback episode revealed a number of shocking truths, and actor John Middleton has now confirmed that he will be leaving the soap following character Ashley Thomas’s dementia storyline.

MORE 'EMMERDALE':

In Thursday’s hour-long special, viewers saw Ashley being told that he may have early onset dementia, and Digital Spy now reports that the diagnosis will be confirmed next month.

John has played Ashley for 19 years

Speaking to the website, John explains that he will leave the soap when the storyline draws to a close, stating: "Inevitably it will take me out of the show. Every year I think, 'Should I go?' It's a bit like a footballer - you should only leave the team when you've had a good season. This, if I'm up to it, will provide me with the best season I've had in my life."

John won’t be disappearing from our screens for a while though, although his exact exit date is yet to be confirmed.

"In the episode where Ashley is diagnosed, one of his lines is, 'Last time I checked there is no cure' - but it's a very long arc,” John adds. “Time-wise, as far as I know, I'm contracted to the end of next year. Beyond that I don't know.

"I'm finding the prospect of leaving actually very exciting. It's another roll of the dice. I'm very, very excited about that and I couldn't ask for a better storyline to leave the show on, I really couldn't."

John has played fan-favourite Ashley since 1996, and been at the centre of a number of huge storylines during his 19 years in the Dales.

The flashback episode also delivered another shock surprise, as it was revealed that Paddy has been unfaithful to Rhona.

Fans also finally found out who was responsible for shooting Robert Sugden, and many took to Twitter to discuss the unusual turn of events when it transpired that Ross Barton was guilty.

Tom Jones Defends Himself After Controversial Comments About Homosexuality

Tom Jones has taken to Twitter to defend himself, after being criticised by fans for controversial comments about homosexuality.

The former ‘The Voice’ judge made a series of choice remarks during an interview with the Big Issue, however he has now defended his stance, tweeting: “Context! The story is about knowledge/attitudes in the 50s & 60s. it's called History!”

Tom came under fire from fans following the publication of the interview, in which he discussed being “thrown off a bit” when he first met producer Joe Meek “because he was a homosexual”.

"I thought, wait a minute, is the London scene, the people who run British showbusiness – are there a lot of homosexuals involved here?” he told the Big Issue. “Because if so, I'm going back to Cardiff."

"When I signed with Decca and Peter Sullivan became my manager… he said the same thing Joe Meek said – 'tell the boys to pack their gear up, I want to talk to you myself' – I said, 'you're not one of these queer fellows are you?' And he said, 'what are you on about?' I became paranoid, you see."

He continued: “I wondered, was that required to make a hit record? But then I got into it and I realised no, it just so happened that the first guy to record me was a homosexual producer.

"Once I got over the shock of that, and realised it wasn't true, most people were normal. Well, I shouldn't put it like that. Homosexuals are normal, it's not that they're not normal. It's just that they are what they are."

A number of fans took to Twitter following the interview, with some accusing Tom of homophobia, however some defended the star:

Tom’s currently busy promoting his new memoirs, and this isn’t the first controversial comment he’s made in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, he remembered Jimmy Savile as a “good man”, stating: “You always think of paedophiles as being like creepy people – well maybe to some people he did look a bit creepy - but he was a bit of a Jack The Lad with young girls."

He’s also had some harsh (four-letter) words for the BBC, who unceremoniously ditched him from ‘The Voice’.

“I enjoyed it, but if they don’t want me any more, they can go fuck themselves,” he said. Niiiiice.

Adele, Hello - Me, It's About Time

$

Adele's latest single came out today, and as expected, she's cut right through everyone's tough exterior, taken a flashlight to our communal solar plexus and revealed our innermost feelings. She's got such a gift with words. Not the long, extraneous, waffley ones like mine, but her recourse to the simplest, most accessible language works on such a profound level.

Not only does 'Hello' feel like a seamless transition in her music and life-tale, it's a cracking first single being delivered with exact, saliva-inducing accuracy ahead of her album release next month. When I heard the words, 'Hello, it's me, I've been wondering after all these years...' I felt like saying too right- where've you been! Alas, the time is now. Fasten your seatbelt and get ready to be moved by the eloquence of the industry's greatest wordsmith.

Though words on their own aren't enough. Literary talent is common, it's storytelling that represents a truly unique gift, and for the first time in three years, we finally get to be told a raft of beautifully constructed stories from her irrepressible talent. Adele clearly writes about love. That which has intersected her life pre-fame, and now during. Her thoughts as they vacillate between hurt and regret.

But while I listen to her songs, I always have someone in mind. And that's the beauty. Everyone has their own Adele subject. It's as if Adele sat us down and conducted lengthy interviews with us to flesh out the pain we've suffered at the hands of this volatile thing we call love, then gone away for a few years and created a masterpiece from our tales, and lo and behold- a product that feels so intimately relatable to just about everyone else on this earth.

And she does it so graciously. She isn't the fully formed pop star that walks straight out of a plume of smoke with high heels and daisy duke hot-pants. Her voice hasn't been diluted amidst a raft of post effects in the studio, or herds of backing dancers on stage during live performances. It's her, with a microphone and someone usually playing piano. She enunciates her words, her diction is fantastic, and you never come away thinking, what is she saying, I didn't quite hear it right. Or scrap that; your dad won't even sing the wrong words.

I'm no music expert, but I believe this was one of the inherent qualities that pervaded the music of The Beatles. Crystal clear and understandable lyrics, delivered alongside beautiful melodies. As with anything in life, the simpler the better. Personally I've had enough of today's flash-bang music and I'm through with meaningless lyrics. A song called 'Can't feel my face' (Weeknd) recently topped our charts. You will be surprised to hear that the mystical numbness of one's face didn't refer to the overwhelming sense of euphoria love emits, rather it's about the effects of cocaine. And so you see, it is with open arms I welcome back our dearest Adele.
