Evanna Lynch, ‘Harry Potter' Star, Shuts Down Homophobic Trolls With Lesson From Luna Lovegood Character

Harry Potter’ star Evanna Lynch has shut down homophobic internet trolls in the best way possible - by using her character Luna Lovegood.

The actress became a target of abuse after she showed her support for the legalisation of gay marriage in Ireland last week on Instagram.

After she was bombarded with vile messages, she has taught the bigots a lesson using her alter-ego from the film franchise.

In a post on her Facebook page, Evanna wrote: ""Simply, if you are someone who perceives homosexuality as 'disgusting' or 'f***ed up' or 'unnatural,' will you do me a kindness and please unfollow me on all social media platforms. And then block me.

“Please don’t for a second pin the intolerance and hatred you spread on ‘religion’ for no religion endorses the darkness you’re spreading. It is possible to not like the idea of homosexuality, to find it a wholly alien, uncomfortable concept and to NOT impose this view on the people it affects and above all to NOT shame people for the way they are,” she continued.

“I think it’s safe to assume that the majority of you on here clicked ‘like’ on account of my portrayal of the character ‘Luna Lovegood’ in the Harry Potter films

“Luna Lovegood’s love is a GOOD kind of love. It is not conditional or possessive or needy or demanding. It doesn’t fall apart the moment you expose a piece of yourself that is unconventional or even unbecoming. Luna is a character who accepts all people and creatures in all forms, loves them for exactly what they are and who is constantly in awe at the diversity, strangeness and newness of each being she encounters.

“The only way Luna can be quintessentially Luna is because she loves and accepts herself fully. If Luna were to condemn and vilify such an intrinsic human thing as our sexuality and see ANY colour of it as wrong she would not sit so comfortably within herself and she would not be who we know and love.

“Luna is someone who has always taught me to love myself and I don’t know what you are doing on my Instagram, Facebook or Twitter helping others feel awful about the way they are.”

“If you are one of the people who bred hate or revulsion or shame on my Instagram post today then you clearly haven’t thought very deeply about what I or Luna Lovegood represent and it’s time for you to unfollow,” she added.

And THAT, ladies and gents, is how you deal with trolls.

'Britain's Got Talent': Nobody Believes Magician Chloe Louise Crawford... Well, Apart From Simon Cowell

Chloe Louise Crawford is the first female magician to grace the 'Britain's Got Talent' stage, however, her performance in Friday night's live show didn't impress everyone.

READ ALSO:

While Simon Cowell heaped praise on the magician, the other judges - and viewers on Twitter - weren't quite so satisfied.

Sorry Chloe, but you didn't fool us...

Alesha Dixon was the first to share her views on Chloe's act, admitting that while she looked great, her magic wasn't exactly.. well, there wasn't any magic was there?

Amanda swiftly agreed - though Simon protested, telling Chloe that he couldn't work out how she was flying.

Here's what the good people of Twitter had to say...

Well, that's that then, isn't it? It's not been a great week for magicians on the show, and viewers at home saw through Jamie Raven's trick earlier this week - though he still nabbed a spot in Sunday's final.

Still, neither of them were anywhere near as bad as this lot...

If you thought you’d seen the last of ‘Big Brother’ contestant Simon “SHOWBIZ!” Gross, we have got some bad news for you - he has re-entered the house.

The theatre company owner made a shock return during tonight’s show, which also saw four original housemates evicted and three other new ones join.

SEE MORE:

Simon was famously booted off the Channel 5 reality series on the first night in a Timebomb twist, having spent less than an hour in the house.

Simon Gross has returned to the Big Brother house

He admitted he felt like he had “won the lottery” when producers called him asking to return to as part of the latest twist.

Speaking about his untimely exit, he said: “I was gutted. I felt cheated. It was like being dragged away from your family even though I had only known those people for two hours.

“It was a horrible feeling. The Timebomb was a good idea but it was brutal.”

Having avidly watched the show since his eviction, Simon said he will be weary of certain housemates.

“Cristian, Kieran, Danny and Sarah, they're not my sort of people. I think that they are plastic and boring,” he said.

“They're not entertaining to watch and they are just arrogant and vain.”

He’ll also be trying to show a different side to his character after his “showbiz!” catchphrase grated on viewers.

“I was very loud and I watched it back and thought, ‘Urgh!’ but I made an impression and I will just go in there with a bang. That is the only way I can do it,” he said.

“But this time, I want people to see the real Simon who is a listener, a friend and a leader. Not just somebody who is flamboyant and loud all the time because there is more to me than that.”

‘Big Brother’ airs nightly on Channel 5.

It was then up to Ant and Dec to reveal that Danny had scooped the most votes, meaning Jesse was out of the competition.

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Step Out Amid Divorce Rumours

Ben Affleck and his wife of nearly 10 years Jennifer Garner have been spotted out together in LA, amid reports that they are about to divorce.

The longtime couple, who have three children together, were spotted out with their eldest two kids, in Santa Monica, LA.

Ben and Jennifer were joined by their daughters

Earlier this week, the US version of OK! magazine claimed that the couple were on the rocks, with a source reportedly telling them that Ben and Jennifer are “already separated”.

The couple have been spending time apart recently, and Ben recently returned from Toronto, where he was filming Batman scenes for the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ movie.

He is also due to start work on the ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ film, which is slated for release in March 2016.

Ben and Jennifer first met on the ‘Pearl Harbor’ set in 2001, and later worked together on ‘Daredevil’ two years later.

After around a year of officially dating, they married in April 2005, and their first daughter Violet was born in December the same year.

‘Britain's Got Talent' Choir Cor Glanaethwy ‘Running Up A Six-Figure Bill For Simon Cowell'

Welsh choir Cor Glanaethwy are the favourites to win Sunday’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final, and Simon Cowell will perhaps be glad to see them do well, as they’re reportedly currently costing him a fortune.

MORE 'BGT":

Si’s company Syco Entertainment and Talkback Thames - who produce ‘BGT’ - are responsible for covering all semi-finalists’ travel, accommodation and food and drink during the week of live shows.

Industry requirements also mean that insurance and criminal record checks are required. All of this is fine, of course. Well… until you have a choir made up of 167 people.

cor glanaethwy
The whole choir couldn't fit on the stage for their semi-final results, earlier this week

According to The Sun, the singers have run up a six-figure bill, and an insider is reported as telling the paper: “Simon absolutely loves Cor Glanaethwy but they are costing the show a small fortune.

“We are responsible for all their accommodation, then their transport to London and between their hotel and the studio.

“Of course we have to make sure that they are fed and watered during rehearsals and the live shows.

“So while it’s great having them in the competition, they have blown our budget. They have cost us an extra six figures.

“There is no limit to the number of people allowed in one act and as far as Simon is concerned bigger is better, but 167 is taking it to an absolute extreme."

Music mogul Si, who manages the relatively well-known One Direction, must have a penny or two stacked up for a rainy day, so we reckon he can handle these costs.

Also, if the choir go on to become megastars, he’ll be in line for another huge payday.

“Still, Simon’s a wealthy man and if they go on to win the show and make him an absolute fortune in album sales and concert ticket, then it will have been money very well spent,” the source adds.

MORE 'BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT':

Cor Glanaethwy face stiff competition in tomorrow’s ‘BGT’ final, and one of the acts they’re up against is Simon’s golden buzzer star Calum Scott.

The 10 finalists will also be joined by two wildcard entries, as both the judges and viewers are able to pick an extra act each this year.

The ‘Coronation Street’ cast and crew have gathered as Manchester Cathedral, to bid farewell to ‘Corrie’ legend Anne Kirkbride.

The actress, who played the iconic Deirde Barlow for more than 40 years, died in January, and her family decided to hold a private funeral.

The order of service

Now, Anne’s getting a public send-off fit with a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral, attended by her many friends and co-stars past and present.

Full details of the service are yet to be confirmed, however it’s believed that there will be readings and tributes from cast members Bill Roache and Beverley Callard, and ‘Corrie’ executive producer Kieran Roberts.

Story continues below the gallery...

The service comes just one day after Bill praised Anne during a 'Good Morning Britain' appearance, as he discussed the upcoming Deirdre memorial episode.

“It’s very, very strange because we’re actually filming the funeral of Deirdre and I had a scene as Ken where I’m given Deirdre's glasses," he said. "But of course Annie wore them for 30 years, so you certainly don’t need any motivation for the acting. We’re always on the verge [of tears].”

The ‘Corrie’ team have planned the service with the help of Anne’s husband, who also assisted them in planning how to say goodbye to Anne’s on-screen alter-ego Deidre Barlow.

Pictures of Anne as Deidre will be displayed in the Cathedral, along with an exhibition of art she painted in her spare time, reports the Mirror.

Soap fans can also attend the service, and plenty have been queuing since 6am to guarantee their place in the Cathedral.

'Single Ladies' Dance Mashed With The 'DuckTales' Theme Tune Works Uncannily Well

Who would have thought that the dance for Beyonce's seminal pop anthem 'Single Ladies' would blend so perfectly with the theme tune to a 1980s cartoon about a money-loving duck tycoon and his three mischievous grandnephews?

The people at The Good Friends Podcast did, and we can't thank them enough for making their idea a reality by mashing up the theme from 'DuckTales' with Single Ladies.

The film is ridiculously catchy, and the styling of DuckTales syncs up almost too well with Beyonce's moves. We could have a new classic here.

The ex-Destiny's Child superstar and her dancers take on the song about Scrooge McDuck, from the US Disney cartoon that many will remember from childhood.

Despite being the richest duck in the world, Scrooge is constantly scheming to get his hands (wings?) on more wealth, with the help of Huey, Dewey and Louie; his grandnephews and Donald Duck's nephews.

‘Britain's Got Talent' Judge Simon Cowell To Save British Eurovision Hopes?

The UK doesn’t exactly have a fantastic track record when it comes to Eurovision, and after another year with an embarrassingly low score, it’s clear that something new needs to be done.

Enter… Simon Cowell?

simon cowell
PLEASE HELP US, SIMON

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has plenty on his plate at the best of times, but he’s now revealed that he’d love to help the UK find an entry one day.

When asked whether he’s considered a ‘BGT’-like show, to search for a Eurovision representative, Si told The Sun: “One hundred per cent.

“I have thought about it. The problem is timing because I wouldn’t want it to compete with ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

“But I think the idea that I would take it on for one year and try to get someone to represent the UK, someone undiscovered, I’d love that.”

In the past, similar contests have run and in 2009, Jade Ewan was selected as the UK’s entry, following a televised search led by Andrew Lloyd-Weber, and Jade even managed to finish fifth in the song contest.

Sadly, we haven’t had much luck since then, and 2015’s singers Electro Velvet narrowly avoided coming last, scooping just five points.

However, 2010’s Josh Dubovie came last - despite earning 10 points - and who could forget Jemini, who ended up with the dreaded “nil pwa” in 2003?

Simon - it’s your national duty to help us.

After over 30 years taping at Manchester’s Granada Studios, ‘Corrie’ packed up and moved to MediaCity UK in 2013, where it has been filming ever since.

However, according to reports, certain members of the soap’s cast and crew are concerned they might not be alone on the new set, after a string of strange happenings have prompted rumours of paranormal activity.

Are there ghostly goings-on at the Rovers Return?

An insider tells The Mirror: “It may sound far-fetched, but people are openly saying the site is haunted.

“Every time something goes wrong the cry goes up, ‘We are cursed.’ At first it was seen as a joke but believe it or not, some have convinced themselves it is true.

“It has even been suggested, albeit lightheartedly, that an exorcist should be invited on to the set.”

Over the course of the past few months, ‘Corrie’ has had a string of bad luck, which included an outbreak of illness on the set, affecting several members of the principal cast, and a negative reaction from viewers to the week-long dramatic episodes, airing at 9pm every night last week.

Bizarrely, this isn’t the first time the words ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘ghost’ have shared a headline in recent times, after it was reported last week that Deirdre Barlow’s character would be making a comeback of sorts from the other side, in an episode that will air later this year.

Amanda Holden, Don't Listen to the 'Daily Mail' - You Looked Hot!

$
0
0
Britain's Got Talent has finished for another year. It was another good, be it predictable, series and Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden were dressed impeccably throughout. However, it seemed that Amanda was at the centre of a hate campaign by the Daily Mail against women that, God forbid, show some leg or even worse, cleavage on national TV.

An article published by the Daily Mail called Holden 'the most shameless attention-seeker on telly' for wearing dresses that showed a bit of skin. It all seemed too much for the Mail due to Amanda being 44 and way too old to be showing that she's proud of her body. Can a woman aged over 40 not show off her body without being criticised? No - the media tells women of a certain age that they shouldn't wear some outfits as they're not 'age appropriate'. Madonna has been at the forefront of this type of criticism for as long as I can remember with newspapers, magazines and TV channels telling her she's too old to be dressing the way she is. Not all women have to dress in head to toe Marks and Spencer's as soon as they celebrate their 40th birthday and not all women should be expected to either.

A recent Amy Schumer sketch ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPpsI8mWKmg ) featuring actresses Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Patricia Arquette highlighted the ageism that women in the spotlight face when it comes to sexuality and their age which is frankly wrong. However, this doesn't seem to be the same for men. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are both over 50 and deemed sexy but can a woman be over 40 and sexy too?

The answer to that is definitely a yes. Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum and Nigella Lawson are all women showing that age is no barrier when it comes to their clothing choices and rightfully so. No adult woman should have to worry about an outfit being 'age appropriate'. The media has to stop berating women of any age when it comes to what they wear and how they look. How are we supposed to instil confidence in the millions of self- conscious women when newspapers like the Daily Mail criticise women for revealing their bodies? Rita Ora was at the receiving end of over 400 complaints when she wore a blazer which showed off her cleavage on BBC's 'The One Show'as it was deemed inappropriate. Cleavage is skin. What's the big deal?

Listen ladies, if you want to wear an outfit with a thigh high split, wear it. You shouldn't have to think about what others will say about you and it's definitely not attention seeking either. Amanda you were serving glamour throughout the Britain's Got Talent shows, something which should never be criticised.
  1. Don't listen to the Daily Mail and those 59 people who complained to OFCOM about your 'revealing' dresses. I and many others thought you looked hot. You were showing other women your age that it's fine to show some cleavage and that age should never be a barrier when it comes to fashion or anything else for that matter.

"It is huge pressure for her after the unbelievable success of Skyfall. To anyone else it would be a poisoned chalice but if anyone can pull it off it is Adele."

Adele previously recorded the title song for 007’s latest outing, ‘Skyfall’, which earned her an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy, to add to her ever-expanding collection of awards.

Since then, however, she’s taken notably absent from the music scene, while she works on the follow-up to 2011’s smash hit album, ‘21’.

She’s been taking her time with her third release, which it’s been claimed features a number of collaborators, including Ryan Tedder, Diane Warren and Paul Epworth, as well as Prince, who has rumoured to have been working with Adele last year.

In keeping with her first two releases, ‘19’ and ‘21’, it has been widely rumoured the impending album will be called ‘25’, the age she was when she wrote most of it, particularly after a comment she posted on her 26th birthday, writing: “Bye bye 25… see you again later in the year.”

Britain's Got Talent’ fans were astounded when dancing dog Matisse walked the tightrope on Sunday (31 May) night’s finale, but they might be shocked to learn the impressive stunt was actually performed by a dog double.

Viewers voted for the pooch - dubbed the new Lassie - and his owner Jules O’Dwyer to win the ITV talent show, but the pair are now at the centre of controversy after the revelation Matisse did not do the trick.

Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Monday morning after her win, Jules told of how a third dog had been used in the routine, which also featured an appearance from a three-legged pooch called Skippy.

“Matisse is a little bit afraid of heights so although he could officially do it, Chase is the action dog, so he plays the double for him,” she told host Lorraine Kelly.

Chase had previously appeared alongside Matisse in the semi-final, but fans had been led to believe that Matisse had performed all of the routine himself on Sunday’s show, as there was no mention of - or introduction - to another dog from Jules, hosts Ant and Dec or the judges.

Aside from winning a spot at the Royal Variety Performance, Jules also scooped a massive £250,000 in cash as part of the prize.
