In the Paper This Weekend I Talked About a Couple of Things That I Would Like to Explain Further

Argggghhhhhh! I've got myself in a controversy!!!! In the paper this weekend I talked about a couple of things that I would like to explain further...

So I thought I would tell you in my own words what I mean.

Firstly, I do like to wear matching underwear... no biggy... I don't do it for Matthew... I do it for me.

Does he like my matching nude t-shirt bra and pants? No, not particularly... does that stop me wearing it..? No.

If I want to feel hot and sexy I wear nice undies... if I'm at work, and for practicality, I wear really boring ones... but always matching.

Right, next... my husband...

I do not submit to my husband, nor does he submit to me.

My mum said, to keep your man happy, stay intimate.

Sometimes, especially when the kids were very young and I was super tired,
this was the last thing on my mind... has he ever coerced or pressured me? NO!!!

But have I ever started feeling tired and finished feeling very happy? Yes!!

Can't really believe I am discussing this...

And every single woman I know feels the same.

Really what my mum was saying, and I also believe, is that if intimacy goes, for months, or a year, then it's super hard to get back and it becomes 'a thing'.

I love Matthew... and neither of us want that to happen... so we work at it! Together...

I hope I make sense!

James Corden got the surprise of his life as he attended the Critics’ Choice Awards in the US last night, after actress Allison Janney celebrated her win by snogging him.

James welcomed the embrace after hailing Allison - who plays Bonnie Plunkett on the US sitcom - "one of the greatest actresses [he's] ever met”.

The audience at the Beverly Hilton venue cheered the pair on, and Allison later took a few moments to regain her composure, before returning the compliment to James.

"You're one of my favourite comics on the planet," she said, as he cowered in faux embarrassment.

Awards host Cat Deeley, then added: "I think there were tongues!"

James’ snog will have made up for the disappointment of losing out on winning Best Talk Show to Jon Stewart’s ‘The Daily Show’ during the evening’s proceedings.

Daniel Craig was back in the British capital this weekend, to record new scenes for his latest outing as James Bond in ‘Spectre’.

Taping for the forthcoming action film meant that several London landmarks - including Trafalgar Square, The Mall and Whitehall - were all shut down for the day while taping took place.

The British actor, who suffered an injury on the set of ‘Spectre’ earlier this year, was shown on set wearing all black, in keeping with the film’s dark themes.

Also on set was Ralph Fiennes, who will be reprising his role of M, Head of the Secret Intelligent Service, which he first took on in the last instalment of the 007 series, ‘Skyfall’.

Daniel and Ralph were shown together in a car, during a night scene, at one of the closed-off streets in London.

Also among the cast of ‘Spectre’ - which will mark the 24th film in the James Bond series, and the fourth with Daniel Craig in the leading role - are Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw.

‘Sherlock’ actor Andrew Scott will also be playing a new character in the film.

Meanwhile, it was claimed this week that Adele would be making film history by becoming the first artist to ever record two consecutive ‘Bond’ themes.

It was reported by the Daily Star that the ‘Someone Like You’ singer had already recorded the theme song to ‘Skyfall’ in Los Angeles, following her massive success with ‘Skyfall’ in 2012.

‘Spectre’ is currently slated to hit cinemas worldwide on 6 November 2015.

Vince Vaughn Calls For Teachers To Carry Guns To Prevent Mass Shootings In US Schools

NEW YORK -- Actor Vince Vaughn’s latest role appears to be a parody of former NRA president Charlton Heston, the "True Detective" star telling GQ Magazine teachers should be allowed to carry guns in US schools and banning them is like banishing forks "to stop making people fat."

In an interview published on Monday, Vaughn offered his support for America’s Second Amendment to the constitution, the right to keep and bear arms, which he said was necessary not “because of burglars” but so that citizens could “resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.”

vince vaughn
Vaughn: 'The greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back'

He also blamed to preponderance of mass shooting in the US on gun-free zones. "Take mass shootings," said the 45-year-old. "They’ve only happened in places that don’t allow guns. These people are sick in the head and are going to kill innocent people. They are looking to slaughter defenseless human beings. They do not want confrontation. In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these fucking schools because they know there are no guns there. They are monsters killing six-year-olds.”

Vaughn continued: “It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back. All these gun shootings that have gone down in America since 1950, only one or maybe two have happened in non-gun-free zones.”

More controversially, Vaughn suggested the way to stop mass shooting was to allow teachers to carry firearms in schools. When asked specifically if that was his position, Vaughn said “of course.”

“You think the politicians that run my country and your country don’t have guns in the schools their kids go to?" he added. "They do. And we should be allowed the same rights. Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat. Taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won’t rid the world of criminality.”

Although the actor’s views may appear extreme to Europeans, he is certainly not alone with recent Pew polls showing an increase in the popularity of gun rights in the US. In research published last December, 57 percent of adult respondents said guns “protect people from becoming crime victims.” Only 38 percent said guns “put people’s safety at risk."

One Direction #WelcomeBackTo1DZayn Hashtag Causes Chaos With Fans On Twitter

Times are hard for One Direction fans. After the departure of Zayn Malik in March, rumours have been sprouting up all over the internet about his whereabouts.

First he was allegedly busy cheating on fiancé Perrie Edwards in Thailand, then he was making a solo comeback with producer Naughty Boy, and now, according to Twitter -- Zayn is coming back to One Direction.

Overnight, the hashtag #WelcomeBackTo1DZayn popped up, and by this morning it was trending worldwide.

While there's absolutely nothing official to suggest that there is any fact behind this rumour, it hasn't stopped One Direction fandom going into a Twitter frenzy.

Apparently, it all started with this tweet from a determined Brazillian Directioner, who appeared to have some kind of epiphany and decided to stir up a Twitter storm.

A couple of hours later, Twitter had gone into overdrive and some of the responses were what can only be described as genius.

Mostly, they were heart-broken...

Some of them were really angry...

There was a bizarrely biblical undertone...

But the overarching sentiment was...

The One Direction fan that started the trending tag has since tweeted (in Portuguese...) that she may have been trolled.

E.L. James has announced plans to release a new book in the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ series.

SEE MORE:

The upcoming novel, which will be her fourth centering on the BDSM-infused relationship between ingenue Anastasia Steele and millionaire tycoon Christian Grey, will be notably different from its predecessors, in that it will be told from the perspective of Mr Grey himself.

‘Grey’ was announced on Monday morning on the author’s Instagram page, and will retell the events of the first book from Christian’s perspective, whereas the first three novels were written from Anastasia’s perspective.

E.L. James wrote: “This book is dedicated to those readers who asked… and asked... and asked... and asked for this.

“Christian is a complex character, and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story.

“It's been a great pleasure to return to my happy place - writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage [Publishers].”

A film version of ‘Fifty Shades’, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in the lead roles, was released earlier this year, with a sequel on the way.

‘Big Brother' Contestant Marc Continues To Shock With Sexually Explicit Questions Aimed At Sam

New ‘Big Brother’ contestant Marc O’Neill has continued to cement himself as this year’s most controversial housemate, shocking the rest of the group with his sexually explicit comments.

SEE ALSO:

The science student-turned-stripper left Sam Kay speechless as he asked her a series of vulgar questions in scenes set to air on tonight’s (1 June) show.

Marc has proved to be highly controversial on 'Big Brother'

Marc was having a discussion about sex while in the bathroom with Sam and Cristian MJC, when he began gyrating in the shower, remarking that Sam is “a snake charmer”.

After she asked him to not make those comments “at this time of day”, he continued to make her feel uncomfortable by saying: “Do you know you can burn x amount of calories when you have sex, but only if you’re doing all the work though.

“If you’re just lying there like a bag of spuds it will do nothing for you except make you heavier because you will have all the semen in you.”

“See this face? Not amused,” an unimpressed Sam responded.

But Marc disgustingly replied, “see this face? It will be all over your vagina,” leaving her visibly shocked.

Later on, the pair were in the kitchen together when Marc left her open-mouthed once again by asking: “Here is a quick question; do you take it up the a***?”

“I am just going to not answer you when you speak to me like that,” she replied.

Marc’s latest comments follow Jade Lynch’s threats to quit the house after he exposed his genitals to her on Sunday (31 May) night’s show.

The Irish model was left in tears in the Diary Room following the incident, branding Marc “disgusting”.

It was only last week that Aaron Frew was removed from the ‘BB’ house when he repeatedly flashed fellow housemate Joel Williams, despite his protestations for him to stop.

‘Big Brother’ airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.

San Andreas - The Review

$

The first I knew of San Andreas was (name drop alert) while interviewing Alexandra Daddario last year. The drop dead gorgeous, not bad actress was plugging True Detective and was hyped about the shoot in Australia. I tried to share her enthusiasm but Dwayne Johnson has never been top of my list when it comes to must see movies.
The fact San Andreas is as enjoyable as it is was a welcome surprise.

Yes, it's hard to watch without comparing to a dozen other disaster flicks, from Earthquake (naturally) to Daylight, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012

The latter is a personal favourite for its stunning effects and tongue in cheek humour. SA is more of a soap opera (even featuring a cameo by Kylie).

The cheesy scenes of estranged couple bonding in spite of mass carnage was often unintentionally hilarious. Or maybe that's just the tone its creators were going for. Who knows?

Seen in 2D, the movie rattled along at a fair pace, despite plot holes bigger than some of the fissures.

Characters waste precious seconds watching the disasters unfold instead of running; our hero and his estranged wife blissfully drive past an elderly couple in need of roadside assistance and ignore them... but then go back once they realise they can't go forward.

And some of the dialogue is so redundant.

"Run. Get off the bridge!" yells the ever reliable Paul Giamatti as characters attempt to do just that on a collapsing Hoover Dam.

Niggles aside, this is just the sort of trashy popcorn blockbuster you'll hate yourself for liking.

From the heart-in-mouth rescue at the start to its standout tsunami scene, San Andreas may be full of faults (pun intended), but the presence of Johnson, Daddario and Carla Gugino made it a worthwhile watch.

Vinyl Tuesday - A Tipping Point for the Vinyl Resurgence?

$
0
0
Last week those behind the highly successful Record Store Day (RSD) announced the launch of a weekly microcosm of the initiative, in the form of 'Vinyl Tuesday' - which aims to "maintain and grow physical retail while giving music fans more compelling reasons to support this important part of the music business community", according to the blog announcing the idea.

With RSD growing year on year, and becoming a staple of the annual diary for indie stores, anything which can build on this success is surely a good thing - especially if in doing so it further fuels the resurgence in vinyl sales over recent years and re-establishes it as a key part of the retail music industry.

However, I'll hold my hand up and admit that when I first heard of Vinyl Tuesday, my first thought was "this will be overkill", but having spoken with owners of record shops (I last worked in one fifteen years ago), that's clearly me being cynical. My concern was that this could risk undoing the cache of RSD by spreading it too thinly. I also thought it might end up with either racks of unsold RSD ltd edition stock (many of those selling RSD 2015 titles had 2014 titles still available despite their limited run), and thus a financial burden; or a vast swathe of the rarities ending up on eBay within minutes by touts.

The first concern was addressed by Andy Tucker, owner of the In The Groove store in Henley; "RSD is easily the biggest day of the year in terms of footfall and turnover. So it is a fact that the stated aim of the original organisers, of driving customers back into bricks and mortar stores, has been achieved". Importantly, Andy's store combines second-hand and new vinyl and bringing footfall in means that actually more of his general stock is sold - it's not just the RSD kit flying out of the racks. The second concern was dismissed by Phil Barton, owner of Sister Ray (Soho & Shoreditch) who pointed me in the direction of Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) data which shows that just 2% of RSD stock ends up on eBay.

Sister Ray also covers both new and second-hand vinyl, and Phil reiterates the macro benefit that RSD has had, "The resurgence in vinyl sales has kept us in business. Without it I was close to pulling the plug. It has enabled us to cash in on our vast collective knowledge of the market and catalogue, to provide our customers with a great range of both new and secondhand vinyl stock. RSD has become the focal point of this resurgence."

With this in mind, Vinyl Tuesday should be celebrated as another opportunity to further bond with the new, the born again, or the lifelong vinyl junkies alike. However, it also highlights a (pardon the pun) pressing problem for the production of vinyl - the factories which pumped out little black plastic platters are fewer and farther between than during vinyl's heyday.

Demand has surged, but has done so to the point where a bottleneck has developed in being able to turn new product out in time - in a retail world where supply and demand are king, having one without the other is a stock nightmare. If there's much fanfare around the releases, if they don't arrive on time (if ever), then the Vinyl Tuesday concept could swiftly backfire. Phil Barton reiterates this - where RSD is concerned, "Companies have 365 days a year in which to plan their strategies and as it is so successful they should be planning well advance as there is always production issues involving lack of capacity running up to the event". If an annual event can become disruptive, then turning it into a (albeit smaller) weekly phenomenon could create further havoc for those behind the pressing plants.

With both major labels and independents alike vying for position at the few remaining major pressing outlets, (a feature earlier this year put the number of big plants in Europe at six), a major problem for Vinyl Tuesday will be just be getting promised stock out on time - reliably and to a high quality. Andy Tucker points out, "The real problem of course is that there just isn't enough capacity to satisfy the increasing demand for vinyl. This is where it would be nice for the major labels to step in with some investment in new (or re-tooled) production capacity. I guess it's a decision they will need to make at some point if they see the vinyl revival has legs".

It's exactly this tipping point which Vinyl Tuesday might just play a key role in. The demand is going up, yet production right now is finite - with more of the former on the horizon if the success of RSD transposes across to the weekly rarity bonanza. Played right, with the right collectors' items drawing more vinyl-hungry punters through the doors of record shops worldwide, Vinyl Tuesday could revitalise the weekly new release rush to the 7" section which was where every Monday lunchtime went for about four years of my late teens.

If, in doing so, it means investment is made in building more plants to keep up with demand then it could prove to be a foundation for a healthier, more robust vinyl market for many years to come, but it needs not just the indie labels to make it a success, (alongside the indie stores), it needs the majors to help build these foundations and invest in more vinyl pressing factories, through witnessing at first hand the huge, and regular, groundswell in demand.

'Temple' at Donmar Warehouse: Why the Temple Is No Place to Hide

$
0
0
Occupy London were sent packing three years ago, but the Donmar Warehouse is currently home to Temple, a play exploring what St Paul's Cathedral did when protestors set up camp outside their doors. Why put a play about them on now?

Because time and distance - the judgment of which is so feared by the central figures in Steve Waters' new play - allow us to look at these events with a new kind of clarity.

And after an election in which we learned that our voting system is going the way of the chocolate teapot, it feels urgent to re-visit a movement like Occupy. In 2015, we need this play.

Temple takes us into the fraught confines on St Paul's Chapter House, the morning after its members voted to re-open the cathedral to the public (it was famously closed for two weeks because of the notoriously uninvited guests camping outside). But there's a difference in the reading of events - 'a threat' , thinks the Dean, 'a gift', thinks the Bishop of London - and here lies the tension. The Canon Chancellor too agrees with the latter interpretation, having noisily given his resignation, believing that the banner 'What would Jesus do?' is probably one they should have paid a bit more attention to.

Alongside all of this is Lizzie, the new PA who is having a pretty full-on first day. Her character veers between sounding board for the Dean's vacillations and mouthpiece for the playwright's views, but the bemusement that she offers in the face of the church's anachronisms and ivory tower mentality are the closest we really get to having Occupy members present on the stage.

It's not a problem that the Dean is shown to be a man who uses words like nomenclature and antediluvian, is scared of mobile phones and doesn't like tweeting. No one's asking him to be Russell Brand - although their vocabulary is probably something they'll have in common. But when he is repeatedly pressed by everyone around him to make a decision on a course of action, the demand seems to cause him physical pain.

Traditional though he may seem, one of his biggest worries is a decidedly modern one: all the while its doors are closed, the church is hemorrhaging £22k a day. You can understand why this is a problem - you wouldn't want the building to come crumbling down to a dusty pile. But mightn't it as well, if the principles that it were built for become an extraneous luxury, cut off when it really matters? It makes the building nothing more than a museum, an expensive artifact of by-gone curiosities called morals and values, which now sit gathering dust behind invisible glass.

And like the church, hand-wringing in place of actually doing, there's a melancholy comparison with capitalism itself: "I've got no argument with capitalism, but isn't it supposed to work?" asks Lizzie. It may be a fact of life now as fixed as breathing, but it no longer functions like it should, and neither does this church.

The Canon Chancellor accuses the Dean of 'a failure in the imagination', and it feels like this stinging charge really gets to the heart of things. Occupy were imagining a better world, and shouldn't it be the job of the church to try and do the same? And yet it was hiding in its cloisters, killing its natural allies with indifference.

The Virger laments that doing prayers without a congregation is like a play without an audience; like the theatre, the church depends on a collective, a community, a living, breathing counterpoint in order to have any purpose at all. And like the theatre, it should be a place to imagine a better world - "If the battleground is the imagination, then the theatre is a very appropriate weapon in the armoury of resistance," said David Grieg. In doing what they did, the church didn't die on the battlefield - they simply didn't bother to turn up.

Caitlyn has also set up a new Twitter account under her name, sharing her post on Monday afternoon, where she admits that after a "long struggle", she feels "so happy to be living her true self".

Jenner first came out as transgender during a two-hour ‘20/20’ special interview with Diane Sawyer last month, where she said she hoped that she could help “change the world”, insisting: "I really firmly believe that we’re going to make a difference in the world."

Her family, including daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, have all spoken publicly to show their support, with Kendall saying at the time that she was “her hero”.

Believe it or Not, Caitlyn Jenner is Capable of Being a Hero As Well As Soldiers

2015-06-03-1433354711-4078457-556cd6644ae56e586e4588d8_caitlynjennerbrucejennerjuly2015vf.jpgMost people are probably sick of hearing about the artist formerly known as Bruce Jenner. Since the recent revealing that Caitlyn Jenner is "for all intents and purposes, a woman" there has been an outpouring of support for her transition in embracing her true identity. I'm not a transgender person, but like many people, I get it. I get why people may feel like they are born in the wrong body and may want to change that as best they can to fully embrace their true self. On the flipside, I also understand why some people may be compelled to keep those feelings and those urges a secret from everyone. Caitlyn Jenner did it for 60+ years. She lived the life in a body she never truly felt comfortable or happy in. She always felt there was something different and then, one day recently, she decided enough was enough and then she addressed all the rumours and all the speculation; finally accepting that she was a woman.

Since then she has made moves to fully transition into a woman and the recent Vanity Fair shoot revealed Caitlyn Jenner for the first time. While it was no doubt a cause for anxiety for Caitlyn, the photoshoot has led to constant praise of her courage, hailing the fact that she will be a hero to many people around the world. Well, sadly, as with everything, the praise wasn't universal. There has been a growing trend of people who, even if they may on the face of it be supportive of LGBT people, attempting to delegitimise what it actually takes for Caitlyn Jenner to do what she did and the positive impact that will actually have. They have done this by comparing the bravery with that of soldiers who have been harmed in combat overseas. Now, politics on the wars the West are fighting aside, I find this comparison not only stupid, but downright infuriating. But let me explain.

2015-06-03-1433353413-8310723-ScreenShot20150603at18.24.40.png

The image on the right is one that I've seen quite a bit over the last few days. Sure, soldiers are brave. How can you not be considered brave when you're in an area where at any moment a chunk of metal could blow off your head? But soldiers don't own the exclusive rights to bravery, nor are they the only ones capable of being heroes. Sure, the chap in the picture is a hero to somebody somewhere, but so is Caitlyn Jenner for different reasons. She has told millions of boys, girls, men or women around the world that you don't have to be ashamed of who you are, and you can, and should, embrace it.

There are some, even in her close family, that question the motivations behind her transition, but honestly, would her true motivations matter if it achieved a lot of good? The tragic suicide of Leelah Alcorn should be an example to everyone as to why people like Caitlyn Jenner have every right to be called heroes in their own right. One has to imagine that perhaps the suicide could have been prevented had she had a hero or someone to look to as a beacon of hope for her against her bigoted Christian parents.

While the courage and bravery of soldiers is certainly something to be respected, so too is the bravery of Caitlyn Jenner who risked the ostracism of her family, friends, and the potential destruction of her entire life by making the decision she did. If that decision encourages just one person to embrace their true self, then I would say that makes her a hero.

It turns out that Ellie Goulding has more in common with Cilla Black than we realised. No, we don’t mean she has a penchant for bursting into bouts of ‘Surprise, Surprise’ and going on extravagant shopping trips with Dale Winton - she’s actually got a knack for match-making.

Ellie has revealed that she’s the one behind the celebrity couple du jour, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, after she set them up with each other.

She admitted that her main motivation for putting them together was height, joking to The Sun: “Calvin is a really great mate and he’s so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought, ‘They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll be brilliant together’.

Calvin and Ellie have collaborated on a number of occasions, most notably on the track ‘I Need Your Love’, while she also recently made a cameo appearance in Taylor’s ‘Bad Blood’ video, alongside every other famous woman under the sun. Apart from Katy Perry, evidently.

The two also looked very cosy at the Billboard Music Awards last month, where Taylor celebrated her (many, many) victories by hugging the Scottish DJ, in full view of the awards show cameras.

Claudia Winkleman's campaign to improve standards of children's fancy dress has resulted in a remarkable victory, with leading supermarkets agreeing to apply stricter rules to their standards of safety testing.

The 'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter suffered the horror of seeing her young daughter Matilda being severely burnt when her Halloween costume caught fire during an evening out trick-or-treating.

Now, Claudia, who teamed up with 'Watchdog' for improved safety standards, says, "I love Sainsbury's for it. Others are doing it too. I had to do something."

Sainsbury's clothing boss James Brown says of the policy change, "It's the right thing to do." And Tesco and Asda are both following suit.

At the time, Claudia took several weeks away from her TV hosting duties to care for her daughter, and said recently, "It was like horrific birthday candles you blow out and they come back. It was really, really fast, not fire like I'd seen.

"I'd like parents on Halloween to think about what they're going to put their kids in, because I didn't, and it cost us."

Chris Brown Denies Claims He Verbally Abused Flight Attendant And Blew Marijuana Smoke In Her Face

Chris Brown has denied accusations he blew marijuana smoke in the face of a flight attendant, before verbally abusing them.

Us Weekly magazine claimed he was smoking the drug on board a recent flight aboard a private jet, and ignored crew’s requests to extinguish his fancy fag before turning aggressive.

A source said he told one air steward, “I paid $60,000 for this jet, so I own it and everyone inside,” before adding to another, ‘What is your old ass doing here anyway? I like to have the help be people I’d actually like to f***.”

However, Chris’ people have now said the story is “false”, explaining that it was actually one of the rapper’s friends who had angered crew.

“Chris was smoking on the plane prior to takeoff as was a companion of his,” a spokesperson said.

“The pilot explained it was a non-smoking flight so Chris immediately extinguished his cigarette.

“His companion did as well but in a manner which angered the pilot who then said he would not fly the plane until this person was removed.

“Chris spoke to his tour manager, who was speaking with the pilot, and asked if they could replace the pilot. In the end, his companion was removed and the plane departed.

“Also, contrary to the story, there was only one flight attendant, not two and Chris was never rude to her. In addition, Chris did not pay for the plane, the music label paid,” they added.

Chris recently claimed he was a changed man, following a string of high-profile controversies, after he began hating the person he had become.

He wrote on Instagram: “I can't speak for everyone but I can say that my actions contributed a lot to my karma. Being jealous and angry and controlling.

I'm Konfuzed, I always thought I knew the concept of love. Fame and Money can get in the way of that. Most of my issues always deal with love and me being in my feelings. Not to mention me being a dog sometimes. I can't speak for everyone but I can say that my actions contributed a lot to my karma. Being jealous and angry and controlling. There has been times where I looked in the mirror and hated the person I see. I talk to God a lot now. He's given me so much and I feel like I waste his gifts becuz of my impulsive personality. The world is full of negativity and I feel I play a part in it becuz of the choices I've made or mistakes. I tend to accept the negative or the riff raff becuz I know what it's like to be a young black "nigga" in America. I always see the good in people even when they don't see it. I love others more than myself at times. Everything u see on the surface does not reflect what's inside. This is my white flag. I surrender to life and all its blessings. I refuse to be petty and attention seeking. To know me is to love me. Good Bad UGLY! Sincerely, Konfuzed

It looks like Johnny Depp might finally be back in the Australian police's good books.

SEE MORE:

The ‘Sweeney Todd’ actor recently landed himself in trouble with the authorities Down Under, after failing to declare that his dogs, Pistol and Boo, were in the country.

Due to border control laws, Johnny was warned he had just days to get the pooches out of the country, or they would be euthanised.

While he did manage to get them out of the country in time, it was later claimed that he could face prosecution for bringing them into Australia, and may even end up being sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Fortunately, it seems that Johnny is back on the right side of Australian officials, after Queensland Police Services shared this selfie where they’re seen grinning next to him… while dressed, of course, in his Jack Sparrow costume, which we’re convinced at this stage he only takes off for funerals and film premieres.

Here’s Johnny! A potential new Water Police recruit? Thanks for the selfie #JohnnyDepp

Posted by Queensland Police Service on Tuesday, June 2, 2015

Johnny is set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fifth ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean' film, which is currently being filmed.

The fifth instalment, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales', will see Orlando Bloom returning to the film franchise as Will Turner, for the first time since the third ‘Pirates’ instalment, ‘At World’s End’, in 2007.

Johnny also posed for selfies with fans after leaving the set of his film, referencing his recent controversy in an interview with Nine News, when he joked: “I'm going to move in with the mayor and Amber and I are going to settle in with the mayor and probably live in the garage for a while, find a spot and get some pets… oops, sorry!”

‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ is currently slated for release on 7 July, 2017.

'Game Of Thrones' Star Enzo Cilenti Set To Climb Mont Verdoux On Tandem With Father, In Aid Of Parkinson's Research

'Game of Thrones' star Enzo Cilenti is preparing to take on two almighty challenges in the coming weeks… on screen, trading wits, and punches, with Tyrion Lannister, and off screen, cycling to the top of one of France’s most notorious peaks… on a tandem.

“It's like being the new kid at school. And on one of my first days of filming, I had to smash Peter Dinklage in the face,” Enzo tells HuffPostUK. “Fortunately, in real life, we have a great mutual friend, and I knew we’d get on.”

Besides, Enzo, who plays wealthy slave trader Yezzan in the new series as well as Norrell's right-hand man Childermass in BBC drama 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell', has an off-screen mission that makes this sound like a walk in the park.

He tells HuffPostUK he plans to join his father on the bicycle made for two on 20th June, fittingly just before Father’s Day, to ascend Mont Ventoux, one of the Tour de France's race-defining mountains, where British cyclist Tom Simpson met his death in 1967.

Enzo’s father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012, and the pair will be setting off up what’s labelled The Giant of Provence, to raise funds for Parkinson's UK.

“I’m a 40-year-old father who has twins and zero fitness,” says Enzo of his campaign. “But I used to be a committed cyclist, and this is something I know I can do.

“I’ve always ridden and it’s an interest I share with my dad. So it’ll be fun... I’m just not sure how long it’s going to take us.”

enzo cilenti
Enzo stars with Eddie Marsan in 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell'

The distance up the mountain is roughly 130km, and what route they choose will depend on how Enzo’s dad is managing his symptoms on the day.

“Since he was diagnosed, he’s got out less and less,” says Enzo. “One of the problems is fatigue so he can’t do what he used to. But exercise is extremely good for alleviating the symptoms."

As well as his father, Enzo has other family members affected by the disease, and previously rode from London to Edinburgh to raise money.

“Last time, I raised £5,000, so that’s something I’d like to surpass. Anything on top of that will be a bonus.”

So, I must ask the question, have they been able to practice at all for what will surely be a grueling expedition, effectively travelling further than the distance between boot camp and the summit of Mount Everest in a day?

Enzo sounds pretty laidback about the whole affair…

“We’ve cycled around London, about an hour in total," he explains. "But it’ll be fine, even if we have to have a few more breaks than the pros. I confidently expect other cyclists to be going past us. And I’m going to be checking our brakes on the way down.”

Man Up (Review)

$

I'm going to just come right out and say it: this is a bad film. From its random title that leads you to believe this is some sort of bromance, to its contrived plot, this film is 88 minutes of awfulness. The film's only saving grace is Lake Bell, the US actor-director, who does a Renee Zellweger here, adopting a very plausible British accent to play single journalist Nancy Patterson. But here's the thing: we're supposed to believe that the gorgeous Bell has been single for four years without any indication as to why. The script, written by first-timer Tess Morris, is largely MIA, relying instead on the performances of its two leads. Had Lake Bell been partnered with a more engaging actor than Simon Pegg, they might just have got away with it.

When Nancy meets a twentysomething on her way to Waterloo Station for a blind date (in this day and age! Have the filmmakers never heard of Tinder?), she accidentally assumes the young woman's identity and goes on the date in her place. Now, if the date had been with George Clooney or Idris Elba, I might have bought this set-up. But it's Simon Pegg. Simon Pegg. It's one thing to suspend belief, it's quite another to suspend all logic and reason.

During this "meet cute", there's a clumsy reference to Silence of the Lambs and we're asked to accept that Nancy sticks with this man throughout the evening because they're both movie buffs. Really. How easy would it have been to have made Nancy a blogger, who is assigned to write a piece on dating - or risk losing her job. Then she would have to go on the date in order to have something to write about.

As it is, this film feels contemptuous of its audience. It isn't just bad, it's offensive to women. I lost count of the number of times Nancy refers to her age; at 34, she's supposed to be over the hill. Ladies, the makers of this film seem to be saying, you can be beautiful, intelligent and successful but if you're not spliced by the time you reach 30, forget it! Nancy says she's a journalist, but there's little evidence of this - other than the fact that she carries a notebook. Only one scene made me laugh - there's a completely contrived encounter with Jack's (Simon Pegg) ex-wife in a bar that ends with Nancy pretending to be firewoman and tackling a blaze.

While Bell is every bit as good as Julia Roberts, Pegg is not at his best here. It feels as though director Ben Palmer was afraid to give him direction. With a better director, Man Up might just have been able to pull this premise off. But here's the thing: if you have a romantic comedy which features two people walking and talking a lot, then you need a) scintillating dialogue and/or b) a great backdrop. Palmer's largely squanders his central London location (it might as well have been shot in Manchester), while the dialogue is stilted. I'd like to tie Morris and Palmer to a chair and make them watch Preston Sturges' The Lady Eve on a loop for 24 hours.
Man Up is one to avoid.

There was no underestimating the love towards Doctor Who from the audience at Glasgow's SSE Hydro last week. When you looked out into the crowds, there was a surprising number of fezzes and scarfs in view. Even if you weren't a die-hard fan, music-lovers couldn't have failed to get caught up in the show.

The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular was a visual and auditory wonder. Live monsters from the show roamed the stage and the aisles as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC National Choir of Wales delighted fans with music from this cult TV programme.

The performance focussed on the Doctor Who musical scores from 2005 onwards, by composer Murray Gold. A lot of emphasis was placed on the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, as the show opened with 'A Good Man?', the theme of the 12th Doctor.

There were live Daleks and Ood, amongst many other monsters; but the highlight of the night was the appearance of the terrifying Cybermen during 'Death In Heaven'. All of the music was emotion-rousing, but the orchestra's portrayal of the famous 'Pandorica Suite' from the TV show's 2010 series finale sent shivers down the spine.

Everything was tied together by previous Doctor incarnation Peter Davidson, who was in fine spirits and added a touch of humour to proceedings. Finally, there was no better way to end the show, than with the iconic Doctor Who TV theme tune. I'm sure hundreds went straight home to put on their box sets.

'Big Brother': Marc O'Neill And Sam Kay Get Steamy Under The Covers In The 'BB' Bedroom (PICS)

After, let’s face it, a pretty slow start, things in the ‘Big Brother’ house are finally starting to hot up, with two housemates cosying up in the ‘BB’ bedroom.

SEE MORE:

Newcomer Marc O’Neill has been at the centre of the action ever since he made his way into the house on Friday night, and despite his arguably disrespectful treatment of Sam Kay, the two have been spotted looking very comfortable as they shared a bed together.

As if the ‘Big Brother’ bedroom wasn’t enough of a romantic setting, in Thursday night’s show Sam is shown getting to bed with the science student/stripper, and telling him: “You stink. Of curry sauce. You smell so bad.”

And they say romance is dead.

There’s then a lot of rustling under the duvet - giving us very disturbing ‘Stimberly’ flashbacks - when Sam tells Marc she thinks his top is “covered in curry sauce”, so naturally he then whips it off.

She tries to make a move, but is asked to stay for “five more minutes”, at which point she then proceeds to kiss his forehead, and they exchange a few more pecks, before his lips go astray, much to Sam’s apparent dismay.

bb neck
Oh dear...

“I thought it was your neck!” Marc insists, adding: “I feel stupid now. I thought it was your neck I was kissing.”

Clearly there was no harm done, though, as the two end up turning over and going to sleep.

bb
Sam gives Marc a cuddle in the bedroom

We reckon this will definitely be one to watch over the next few days, particularly as Marc has already admitted to “fancying” Sam, telling her earlier that evening: “Why would want to not be in here with you? Why would I want to be on the outside with you? Do you want me to say anymore... I fancy you, yeah?”

See how it all plays out in Thursday night’s ‘Big Brother’, airing at the earlier time of 9pm on Channel 5.
