Chris Evans On New 'Top Gear' Presenting Line-Up: 'It's Nearly In Place'

Chris Evans has revealed he is close to announcing his new co-hosts on the revamped version of ‘Top Gear’.

The Radio 2 DJ was announced as Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement on the BBC Two motoring show last month, after the long-standing presenter was fired for punching a producer.

His co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May also quit the show in the wake of the debacle, leaving Chris to find a new presenting team.

Speaking about the hunt, he told Top Gear magazine: "It's nearly in place. We're so very close. There have been 34 presenters before me, so it's a bit like ‘Doctor Who’ – that's one way of looking at it."

“This is, without doubt, the most challenging thing I have ever done in my career. When I took over [previous Radio 2 host Terry Wogan's] show, people kept saying I had "big shoes to fill", and they're saying it again now,” he continued.

“I don't mean they're wrong or they're right, it's just such a predictable thing to say – and, by the way, Jeremy is very tall, so they're even bigger shoes.”

Chris also let fans in on what to expect from the format of the revamped show.

"Nothing has to [stay the same], but some things will,” he said.

"I can't tell you what precisely. But it would be silly to throw the baby out with the bath water."

Formula 1 presenter Suzi Perry previously confessed she had been approached by producers to join the show.

Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she said: “You know what it's like when you work for a channel and you have conversations… but we don’t know what’s going to happen with that show.

“You know what it's like when you work for a channel and you have conversations… but we don’t know what’s going to happen with that show.”

Jodie Kidd and Clare Balding are also among the female presenters to have been linked to a ‘Top Gear’ presenting role.

Jenna Coleman has shared her thoughts on whether there will ever be a female Doctor Who, saying she thinks there's no reason why there won’t be.

Speaking at Comic-Con, Jenna praised the current Time Lord Peter Capaldi, before speculating on who could take over if he left the show.

When quizzed on whether a female actress could take on the part, she replied: "I think it's absolutely possible. There's no reason why not.

"I think Peter Capaldi is doing the most wonderful job so there's not currently a vacancy."

Peter agreed with his co-star, adding that he “absolutely” thinks a female Doctor should, and will, happen.

"I would expect it at any moment. If you turn around right now I might suddenly transform,” he joked.

The cast are currently preparing for the new series, and bosses recently revealed that Ingrid Oliver is returning to the show - and she’ll be bringing the zygons with her.

The next series of ‘Doctor Who’ will be the ninth, and Peter’s second as the Time Lord.

Despite previously planning to leave the drama, Jenna is set to return as the Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald.

Comic-Con is upon us, and it's revealing a bevy of film teasers, cosplayers and a few funny bits from celebrities.

But Bryan Cranston, aka Walter White, took the cake this year with a rather mean response to a question on the Nerd HQ panel.

A fan from Albuquerque, where Breaking Bad was filmed, asked Heisenberg what he would do for fun while in town for the show.

Cranston replied "I’d go and visit your mother once in a while," and then dropped the mic.

Susan Boyle kicked off her festival season over the weekend, attending Scotland’s T In The Park.

The annual event played host to a huge range of acts, and Susan was certainly in the party mood, donning a controversial Native American Indian headdress at the festival.

While some would be wary about sporting the headgear - which were actually banned from sale at Glastonbury - it looks as though Susan had a brilliant time.

The former ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star kicked back in the VIP area, rubbing shoulders with rockers including Kodaline, Peace and The Prodigy.

Hopefully this is the start of a new, exciting chapter for Susan, and we’re hoping she makes the journey down to Reading Festival this August.

This year’s T In The Park took place at a new location, Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, and played hosts to acts including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Kasabian, Sam Smith and The Libertines.

'Coronation Street' Crew 'Not Happy' After Props Department Sneak Their Own Names Into The Soap

The props department on ‘Coronation Street’ have been having a bit of fun by inserting their own name into the soap wherever possible, but it hasn’t gone down well with everyone behind the scenes, according to reports.

SEE MORE:

In recent weeks, the props crew have managed to subtly sneak their own names into scenes, by employing cheeky tactics such as emblazoning them on the back of football shirts worn by ‘Corrie’ characters, and writing them on the residents’ call buttons at a block of flats.

Eagle-eyed viewers might also have spotted a headline outside of The Kabin, revealing that a friend of the crews “was now officially a granny”, while props man Peter Eccleston even managed to get his name on the outside of a hardware shop in Weatherfield.

However, it seems that some of the staff over on ‘Corrie’ aren’t exactly thrilled at the props department’s jokes.

An insider tells The Mirror: “They think getting their names on TV is a hoot and reckon it’s really funny.

“But to be honest there are quite a few people wishing for a change at the top to stop this nuisance.”

Presumably there's no one in the props department named 'Rovers', although you never know...

‘Corrie’ fans are in for an emotional night this Monday, when the Barlow family will say goodbye to their beloved matriarch, Deirdre.

The funeral has already been teased in a new trailer last week, which looks set to deliver some of the most hard-hitting ‘Coronation Street’ scenes in a long time.

Speaking about her latest role at San Diego Comic Con, Headey enthused: ‘I wanted to do it because it was pure nostalgia for me.

“I have children now and it’s just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it.

“Those moments as an actor that come along once in a while are not to be missed.”

The reboot is fast becoming a who’s-who of British television.

'Pointless' host Alexander Armstrong will replace Sir David Jason as the voice of Danger Mouse, while Stephen Fry has been confirmed to voice the rodent hero’s boss Colonel K.

Another ‘Pointless’ star, Richard Osman, has also landed a role in the show - as a jellyfish scientist called Professor Strontium Jellyfishowitz.

Meanwhile, Terry Scott's old character, Danger Mouse's trusty sidekick Penfold, will be voiced by 'Nighty Night' and 'Big Train' actor Kevin Eldon.

The new series - which will initially run for 52 episodes on the CBBC channel this Autumn - will include updates to bring the much-loved animated series into the 21st century, including a 'multi-purpose i-Patch' for DM.

Other cast members include Shauna MacDonald and Morwenna Banks, while ‘Come Dine With Me’ voiceover man, Dave Lamb, will take on the role of narrator.

30 years ago today... Bob Geldof summoned his most elite of pop troops and changed the nature of charity gigs forever.

With Live Aid, the help of co-producer Midge Ure and promoter Harvey Goldsmith, 58 of the world's biggest music acts, a bunch of satellites, a few thousand volunteers and a force of will that saw the BBC clear its schedules for a day, Bob Geldof put together the world's biggest gig - with two simultaneous concerts occurring on either side of the Atlantic, and beamed around the world to an estimated 1.9 billion viewers.

Notable absences that day included Bruce Springsteen - "simply didn't realise how big the whole thing was going to be" - and Cliff Richard, booked to play a gospel concert in Birmingham. But there was plenty of star-power to be going on with... from the newcomers Nik Kershaw and Howard Jones, to the icons Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin.

Even with this heavyweight line-up, it was sometimes the little things that caught our eye. Here are the top 10 memories we've been enjoying again on the 30th anniversary of a unique day...

X Factor’ couple Stevi Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine Whichello have spilled the beans on their engagement, after announcing they are set to wed, over the weekend.

The pair appeared on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (13 July), revealing to Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield how he popped the question.

“It was in a really nice restaurant on her birthday eve,” Stevi said.

“I had a £10 bag filled with tissue paper and newspaper, and the ring was hidden inside it.”

Chloe said she didn’t really expect the present to be quite so significant, admitting she was more interested in scoffing chocolates after doing an intense workout session.

“We’d just been to boot camp so we were starving, and I was concentrating more on the chocolates,” she said.

Stevi also revealed that he managed to get a 10% discount on Chloe’s ring, which she showed off to Phil and Amanda.

His admission that he’d saved a few quid on the sparkler led to him being congratulated by the show’s Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis.

Speaking about her new fiancé, Chloe added: “He’s just so unique and charming and funny. He makes me laugh all the time,” said Chloe of her new fiancé.

He joked: “I never thought I'd end up with a posh girl in a million years, I’m a commoner.”

The pair are now planning to tie the knot next summer, with Stevi’s daughter set to be bridesmaid.

In the meantime, Chloe is said to be joining Stevi on the new series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ when it returns next month, after he was reportedly offered a place on this year’s line-up.

'Home' Star Jim Parsons On Witty, Warm Rihanna, And Taking A Masterclass From Steve Martin (Interview)

$
0

Jim Parsons is the star of geek-fest 'The Big Bang Theory', but his latest role for the big screen finds him teamed with Rihanna for animated feature 'Home'.

'Home' is the story about an alien (Parsons) on the run from his own people, who lands on Earth and makes friends with an adventurous young girl (Rihanna), who is on a quest of her own.

Jim tells HuffPostUK about this unlikely alliance, plus taking a masterclass from comic veteran Steve Martin and the eternal optimist he thinks is in all of us...

You must get offered a lot of film roles. What made this story stand out?
I was really excited at the prospect of doing any animated film at all, because I’d never done one. It was just the opportunity in and of itself; that part of it was very appealing. The first thing I saw of it was a rendering of the character Oh, and I loved him. In fact, I liked him so much that I thought, ‘Oh! They can’t want my voice for this. He’s so cute!’ He’s got that adorable, curious quality about him.

But then the other thing that’s so appealing, and that has only intensified as we’ve done it, is it’s such a beautiful story about learning to let other people be who they are, and letting their true self shine through, and finding how much you end up loving that person. It’s about not prejudging, and not coming in with too many assumptions about other people. I think it’s an important lesson at all times of life, but really important right now.

jim parsons
Jim Parsons reveals working with Rihanna was a delight

For anyone who is yet to see the film, tell us about your character, Oh.
A: Oh is an extremely friendly, curious, enthusiastic being who, by his very nature, is not one of the crowd. Nothing would please him more than to fit in and conform with his fellow aliens in the Boov race – but he doesn’t, and he can’t help himself. Therefore he feels like an outcast, and his attempts to fit in end up causing trouble for him, to the point where he has a very big mistake he makes that could get his entire alien race in trouble. He’s on the run; he’s a fugitive from the rest. That’s when he meets this young human girl [Tip, voiced by Rihanna] who feels like an outcast in her own way and the two of them find all these things they have in common.

But for him in particular, he’s an extremely optimistic hopeful character. He has an irresistible curiosity and enthusiasm for life in general that is just beautiful.

There’s something about unquenchable optimism that always makes you love a character.
Yes! I feel like everybody feels that part in them, everyone can feel that inside themselves. I have an optimist inside me too. And it’s really easy to lose sight of that and get caught up in the drudgery of daily life and trying to get through things. I think – as with any character that connects with people – Oh’s quality that connects is a mirror of what’s inside them. It’s that hopefulness. To get to see the world through his eyes for a little bit reminds you that you can apply that to your own life.

In terms of the relationship between Oh and Tip, did you get to record your dialogue with Rihanna?

A little bit, not a lot. It was wonderful. She’s an excessively warm person, a very funny and quick-witted person. We had never met before, and I was taken aback at what a wonderful sparring partner she was, both in conversation and to work with, immediately. I think she’s a beautiful fit for this part because she brings two very opposite qualities to this character, of strength and maturity, and this real sad loner quality at the same time. It’s very moving, and very vivid, what she’s brought.

There was a picture online of you recording alongside Steve Martin as the Boov’s leader, Captain Smek. Please tell me that he was as fun to work with as we imagine.

That was beyond fun! It was like taking a class. He was like you would think he is, but even more impressive in person. He is so creative and so brave. We would be doing a scene and… it’s not just that he does improv or anything like that. It’s just that he knows natural ways to take a scene and play with it, and these rhythms and noises and things that are really awe-inspiring. It’s because he has a real fearlessness about him, and it makes it tremendous fun to work with him.

And President Obama visited while you were both recording. That’s amazing!
Yes, he was at the DreamWorks site to give a speech that day. He and Jeffrey Katzenberg went around; he got a tour of the facilities. Steve and I were there and we were recording, so we met him.

Did they warn you he was coming?
Of course! Are you kidding me? There are Secret Service agents everywhere! You know what’s going on.

But did he reveal the secret plans to fight an alien invasion should one occur?
No, not a lick.

So what are you like in the recording booth? Are you quite physical?
I am very physical. I almost always left somewhat drenched in sweat, which surprised even me. You think of it as something where you not only don’t //need// your body, but you don’t even have it to use! There’s nothing you can do with your body that’s going to show in the final product. Maybe that’s all the more reason I used my body so much to get whatever noise or sounds out of it I could. When we needed to keep the energy up I found myself almost running in place! It was very physical.

How much recording time did you do in total?
It was spread over about two and a half years, but I did, I think, 31 or 32 sessions. They varied in time. The shortest I did was probably two hours at once, but I would do four hours at a time. They said it was a lot, but it never felt like a lot. It just felt like I worked on it over a very long time. I think that he had a lot to say in the film, is the bottom line, and that’s really all that mattered.

The central cast of this film – yourself, Rihanna, Steve Martin, and J.Lo as Tip’s mum – are all very gifted musically. Was there ever any talk of just making this a full-on musical?
No. But I did offer up that I would sing with Rihanna any time they wanted, and literally no one ever took that a step further. Isn’t that insulting? (laughs)

Oh that’s outrageous! But it’s interesting that J.Lo is in the film because, in the book, Oh’s character actually took the name J.Lo as his human name. Do you know how she got involved?
I know that they just wanted her to play the mother, which she did. I don’t know why they changed his name. I think there were copyright issues with her name. It’s funny: Oh ended up being such a wonderful name for him, and the way they incorporated why he’s called Oh is so beautiful. But right before we got to that, I was crushed that he wasn’t going to be called J.Lo, because it was very fun to keep saying, ‘My name is J.Lo’. I enjoyed saying that very much. But I really do think it worked out for the best.

The explanation for his name being Oh really is perfect.
It ended up being such a character-defining moment, and that simply wasn’t there before. He was called J.Lo because he thought that was easy for humans to understand.

Now your Instagram account is full of pictures of your adorable dogs. Did you have problems relating to Tip, who is a cat person and has her cat, Pig, with her?
No, not at all! In fact, when I first saw the little cat, Pig, animated, I was like, ‘Oh! That’s the star of the film right there, that stinking cat!’ It’s a very cute cat, and kind of has the body of a dog if I’m being frank. She looks very sturdy.

You’ve done a lot of theatre work in the past, and you have another play coming this summer. A lot of voice actors say that the process is a little like theatre; did you find that?
That’s interesting. I hadn’t thought of it in that way, but I do think that’s why I enjoyed it so much, now that you’re saying it. I know that’s why I enjoyed doing it, because it required so much mental creativity and commitment. You’re absolutely right; the theatre is a wonderful training ground for something like that, where so much is left to your imagination to create the world around you like that. It’s really the essence of what’s so fun for, I think, many people when they first start to want to be an actor, is that they realise they enjoy making up a world around them to exist in, a whole situation and a whole way of being. And even more so than theatre, animation requires that because there’s just nothing to go on. It’s in your head and your heart or it’s not there at all.

DreamWorks Animation’s HOME is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on 20 July. Watch the trailer below...

Jeremy Clarkson Takes Last Ever 'Top Gear' Test Track Lap (PIC)

Jeremy Clarkson has taken one final lap of the ‘Top Gear’ test track, after being replaced on the show by Chris Evans.

SEE MORE:

In his 13 years at the helm of ‘Top Gear’, Jeremy rounded the track on a countless number of occasions, driving a whole variety of cars.

However, he revealed on his Twitter on Monday that he was about to do his last ever lap, and called on advice from his followers about which sports car he should do the honours in.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Jeremy will not be returning to ‘Top Gear’, following a violent bust-up with a producer, while filming on location.

His co-presenters, Richard Hammond and James May, confirmed shortly afterwards that they would also be stepping down from the show, while the BBC have since announced that Chris Evans would be taking the wheel (see what we did there?), when ‘Top Gear’ returns next year.

It’s not yet known who’ll be joining him on the presenting team, though he’s made it known he’d like to have a female co-host, and has also revealed that there will be open auditions for anyone who’s always fancied themselves as a ‘Top Gear’ presenter.

Chris recently told the official ‘Top Gear’ magazine that the presenting team was “nearly in place”, revealing the official announcement wasn’t far off.

Big Brother’ will not face an Ofcom investigation into Helen Wood’s controversial comments to Brian Belo on the show, it has been confirmed.

SEE ALSO:

The ‘BB: Power Trip’ winner sparked over 2,000 complaints to the media regulator, after she said that Brian "looked like a murderer and a rapist", during a heated argument on the Channel 5 reality series last month.

However, Ofcom has now said it won’t be taking the matter any further, insisting that Channel 5 took appropriate action.

A spokesperson said in a statement: “Ofcom assessed a number of complaints about bullying in ‘Big Brother’ and has decided they do not raise issues under our rules warranting further investigation.

“We were satisfied that Channel 5 had broadcast clear and appropriate warnings about the potentially offensive content, and that it intervened in heated exchanges and situations at appropriate times.

“We also took into account audience expectations for this reality format and the fact that the series was broadcast after the watershed.”

Following the incident - which came after Helen, Brian and Nikki Grahame all returned to the house, as part of a 'Time Warp' twist - ‘Big Brother’ issued Helen with a formal warning for her comments.

She later apologised for using the words “murderer and rapist” upon her exit from the house, but stood by her arguments with Brian, insisting she was not a bully.

You know when you’re going somewhere local for dinner on a weekday night, so you just decide to throw on something low-key for the evening? Well, Kim Kardashian doesn’t…

SEE MORE:

The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star headed out for dinner at Craig’s restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night, where paparazzi were, of course, on hand, to photograph her unusual attire.

Kim, who is currently pregnant with her second child, was photographed sporting a seriously low-cut black blazer, with a nude-coloured bra underneath.

Clearly of the ‘more is more’ school of belief, Kim decided to pair this ensemble with a fringe-heavy black skirt, black high heels and, even more curiously, a black choker, which can’t have made chowing down on her dinner very easy, can it?

kim kardashian
A choker? For dinner? Alright, Kim...

With glamorous locations such as ‘Decorative Carpets, Inc.’ and ‘Leonard’s Cleaners’ in the background, we can’t help but feel Kim might be a tad overdressed, but then again, we all know Kim has a tendency to get things wrong when it comes to dressing for the occasion.

This was never more evident than last week, when her latest photo-shoot in System magazine surfaced, showing her lying around a field, while wearing some questionable nude-coloured undergarments.

Her husband, Kanye West, styled her for the photoshoot, which also saw her lounging in a giant pile of dirt, among other less-than-glamorous locations.

Your Heart Will Always Be Your Wage

If you could have anyone throughout the world of politics, history, art or film at your dinner party, who would you ask? Without hesitation, Marine Tanguy. My answer is obscure in comparison to the norm of Winston Churchill, Mother Teresa and Mick Jagger. Let me tell you why.

On a hurricane warm July morning in London, I was able to rendezvous with Marine; the ever gracious French belle at the Royal Academy of Arts. Marine and I first met in February when she first introduced me to the pursuits of Marine Tanguy Art LTD. Like her bursting art resume Marine is a piece de resistance that you feel educated and inspired by. Everyone is always harping on about their ultimate muse - I have found one in Marine. After receiving a recent creative job promotion myself, Marine seemed like the most fitting female to look upon for direction and boy, did she come up with the goods.

We talked all things art, society and culture but most specifically her biggest global art endeavour yet - Yellow Sun: The New Contemporaries. It's fitting to whisk over Marine's accomplishments to date before delving into what makes her my modern-day Mona Lisa.

What started as a naive ten year old vision to become a leading female at the dinner party set (where she would seek to influence the new age of the 21st Century) has now become Marine's reality. This said, there is not a shallow bone to Marine's past or present vision - her young intensity has catapulted her to become one of the youngest art dealers and gallerists of her generation. She has successfully created two art galleries in London and Los Angeles with a pending third in Dhaka.

On a personal note I wanted to learn more about Marine's process of gaining new contemporary artists. Marine is an exception to other London based art dealers; she is not secular in selecting London works but expands her mind to far off lands. To write about our mutual craving for the arts felt right because this artistic lady and her work should not be hidden - you will thank me later when she is dominating. So many creatives struggle to channel their talent (at times I have fallen victim to said struggles) but a moment in Marine's company gave assurance to my blossoming writing career as I learnt that the art and writing worlds often collide in their venture to creatively evolve and break barriers.

For Marine, art is not a passing fancy nor is it a champagne lifestyle that others label it to be. 'This is more than a job, I see myself doing this for the next 40 years.' Her biggest challenge when deciding how to curate and house an exhibit boils down to the argument of fine art versus finance. Marine's wish is never to become commercial but due to tied finances, it doesn't always work in her favour. Marine is a girl who seeks venues with as little character as possible so that the 'art can breathe.' She feels strongly about preserving yet not over producing art.

'What is so beautiful about working with new contemporary artists is we are at the same level of battle.' Marine is nurturing seven budding young contemporaries, among them are: Scarlett Bowman, Jennifer Abessira and Alison Bignon. She began this mission to link them with other institutions, respected collections and home them in studios where their work can be published and credibility boosted.

Marine's professional allure is mesmerizing. Although our time together was limited due to her exotic work schedule, she had me thirsty for more creative chatter. I felt in the midst of something very special by being in Marine's presence on the eve of her travels to Nigeria - to move forward with plans for her upcoming Yellow Sun exhibit.

Yellow Sun is an exhibition of photography, painting and installation art taking place in the prestigious location of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria from October the 1st to 3rd. This will be the first of many promising partnerships between Marine and Vanessa Powers. The opportunity to build partnerships and take her vision to Nigeria stems from knowing that in London everyone is producing the same; whereas Port-Harcourt offers a blend of established and not-established works. Nigeria wants more art in their country!

Marine's cultural sentiments are extraordinarily unique. 'I don't want to be a snob so when I go to another country I ask for literature and art about their country.' I see Marine and her work as treasures - ones that should be watched intently as every move enthrals. What may have seemed a youthful 'eccentric' vision from this international art connoisseur, now electrifies across many major art cities.

Marine and I have a collective passion for finding people and the brain fascinating, which solidifies my reasoning for reveling in Marine Tanguy's prolific efforts throughout the creative realm. She has been one of the biggest influences in setting my mind to the business end of getting a creative career off the ground and for that a huge nod must go her way.

We’re beginning to think Amanda Holden is on a one-woman crusade to get her nipples their own TV show, just don’t tell Ant and Dec.

READ MORE:

The ‘This Morning’ host has even gone so far as to compare them to the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ hosts in a new interview.

The 44-year-old, whose boobs made the headlines after she appeared braless at this year’s ‘BGT’ auditions, reckons they’re just like the Geordie presenting duo because ‘they always stand on certain sides’.

Ahem.

"They're out now having a meeting, they're not with me,” she told The Mail.

“They are like Ant and Dec, and they always stand on certain sides. Maybe they should start blogging or start vlogging."

It’s surely only a matter of time before they get their own agent? Mandy certainly thinks so.

"They certainly should have their own management, let alone insurance, because they upstage me anywhere I go," she joked (we think).

“I'm amazed that they are even being talked about because I'm 44 and I'm thrilled,” she added.

“No one spoke about them when I was in my twenties."

Earlier this year, Amanda revealed she was planning on insuring her nipples for a £1 million each, claiming they’re her best asset.

“I decided if it was good enough for Kylie Minogue’s bum or Mariah Carey’s legs, it is definitely required for my nipples,” she told The Sun.

“I’ve got to make sure all my best assets are protected.”

Lauren Goodger is (once again) using her new! magazine column to slam rumours, dispelling reports that she might be pregnant.

The former ‘TOWIE’ star has discussed her desire to have children a lot since reconciling with Jake McLean earlier this year, but she’s insistent that we aren’t about to hear the patter of tiny feet any time soon.

The Goodge wrote: “People have asked me if my lethargy is down to me being pregnant, but it’s not! Weirdly, everyone is talking about babies and sharing advice. It’s as though they think I’m having one!”

Well Lauren, let’s examine the evidence shall we?

Just weeks ago, the Goodge was busy telling everyone how excited she is to be a mum, explaining to OK! magazine: “I still have a few things I want to achieve in my career but I want to be a young mum so we don't want to wait too long. I can't wait to be the mum of Jake's children.”

Then, just last week, Lauren was busy waxing lyrical on how she’d love to be a young mum.

"I don't think age matters too much when you have a baby, there's lots of more important factors," she said. "I'm older than my sisters when they had kids. I don't think there's a 'right' time to have kids, really."

Lauren, we’re glad you’ve cleared up the rumours… but it’s not like your pals were asking for no reason now, is it?

Taylor Swift has given fans a huge dose of nostalgia by teaming up with her old pal Nick Jonas on the latest date on her ‘1989’ world tour.

The pair reunited on stage to perform Nick’s recent hit ‘Jealous’ as her production rolled into town in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday (11 July).

And the stars looked as if they couldn’t be happier to be sharing the stage once again as they strutted up and down the catwalk at the arena, belting out the song.

Watch their performance in the video below...

Taylor and Nick first performed together back in 2009, when she joined The Jonas Brothers on stage, and a misty-eyed Taylor tweeted a throwback picture of that occasion on Sunday.

“I feel all the feelings now. @nickjonas,” she captioned the snap.

Nick also tweeted: “Unreal feeling jumping on stage with my friend @taylorswift13 tonight at the #1989TourEastRutherford show in my hometown.

“Thank you so much @taylorswift13 for having me what an incredible memory... And all the amazing fans for the warm welcome home.”

Of course, fans will remember that Taylor has a long history with The Jonas Brothers, as she used to date middle sibling, Joe.

She recently staged a reunion with him too, as they were pictured on a double date with their new partners.

In the latest in our WISE WORDS interview series - where stars from a whole range of fields share the important life lessons they've learned along the way - we’re posing some of the big questions to Carol Vorderman.

MORE WISE WORDS:

With more than 30 years in the television industry - initially as one of the original co-presenters on ‘Countdown’, and later on the likes of ‘Tomorrow’s World’ and ‘Loose Women’ - there are few more qualified to deliver “wise words” than Carol, who tells us about her one regret in life, her plans to fly solo around the world… and one particularly fun-sounding trip to Brazil she’s got planned…

Carol Vorderman

What do you do to switch off from the world?
There are three main things, really. I go walking a lot, with my iPod in, I can lose myself for hours doing that, I really enjoy it. I’m not a runner, but I am a walker. What I listen to varies, really. If I’m doing country walks when there’s no one around, I’m normally singing away, so I listen to Motown or something like that, or dance as well, but if I’m walking around town then it would be something slower, otherwise people would think I’d gone a bit nuts, walking around swinging my arms about everywhere. It’s best I do that out of the public gaze.

As well as walking, I switch off flying, and I’m not the only person to say that - a lot of businessmen and businesswomen who learn to fly have said that as well. Everybody has their computers and their smart phones now, and everything’s pinging and ponging all day long, but when you’re up there, it requires your whole brain, so it’s actually really relaxing, because normally in life, a lot of stresses in the modern world come from the fact we have to think about 100 things in an hour - it’s constant, it’s never-ending. But when you’re up there, it’s just the one thing, and no one can get to you, it’s lovely!

And then the third thing I do… I’ve never really been a big reader of novels, I’m not really interested in them, to be honest. I read them and I go, ‘oh well that’s made up.’ But I do like reading adventure stories, from real-life adventurers. Right now I’m reading about my heroine, Mildred Bruce, and her flight around the world. That means a lot to me, because this is stuff that someone else hasn’t made up - and it’s actually more fantastical than fiction, because life always is, isn’t it?

When and where are you happiest?
A lot of different places make me happy, really. I love a party, I’m a big party girl. I don’t go to enough, although some would say I go to too many! And I’m really happy at home, because my mum lives with me, and she’s very funny. And then obviously in a plane.

But lots of different places, I couldn’t say where I’m happiest - I’ll tell you where I’m not happiest, is sitting on a beach or by a swimming pool. I get bored! *laughs*

My sign when I know I’m happy enough - and ‘enough’ is my magical word - when I’m happy enough, is when I’m skipping, I’m bouncing around, and I literally skip up to the front door, and that’s when I know I’m at my ‘happy enough’ stage.

What has been the hardest lesson I’ve had to learn?
Not to do too much… to say no, I think. But that’s only really come to me in the last couple of years. That’s the hardest lesson - it’s a good lesson, though.

I’m not very good at doing nothing, I’m just not good at it, so then I say yes to everything! So my diary is always full, but if I look beyond four months ahead it looks like it’s empty. It’s not, but there are lots of spaces. So if someone asks me to do something in six months time, I’ll say ‘yes, of course, I’ll do that!’, but then, of course, it’s never empty by the time you get there, so it took me a long time to learn to say no.

What would you tell your 13-year-old self?
I’m trying to remember what I was like at 13! I think I’d tell her to learn to fly young. I’m doing it now, but that’s my one regret.

What do you try to bring to your relationships?
Fun! That’s what I would try to bring. Just be the entertainment for people.

What keeps you grounded?
Family, I suppose. We are very much a three-generation household, and we’re a close family.

carol
Carol says her upcoming trip around the world is top of her bucket list

What three things are left at the top of your bucket list?
To fly around the world solo, obviously, and that’s coming next year. I want to go to every Formula 1 Grand Prix one year, and fly myself from one to the other. And then to go with a bunch of my outrageous friends on a float in a Brazilian carnival, with one of those outfits on!

What do you think happens when we die?
I have no idea, but I don’t think anybody else does either.

When do you feel that we live in the presence of something bigger than ourselves?
I remember when I was growing up, they used to say, ‘there’s never been any life on Mars, because there’s no water up there.’ And now we know there was. And that’s just about science, new evidence comes forward, and therefore the conclusions change. I think we think too much of ourselves, you know? And so, I don’t think that the human race is the ultimate form of anything. We are to ourselves, but I think we have an incredible arrogance about us. I think that we could do with a lot more humility, and appreciation of other things.

Whether that means a God, I’ve no idea. But then neither does anybody else, do they? It’s all blind faith. If people want to believe that, then I would never criticise that at all. You know, my mum’s very Christian, I waver in and out, my daughter’s very Christian, and I respect that. And it’s not for me all the time, but then sometimes it is. I think I’m very like a lot of people in that.

Flying also really gives you a sense of looking down, and thinking, ‘why are there arguments down there?’ Because actually there’s no difference, there’s just a few miles, there’s a mountain between those people and those people, and then we falsely create difficulties. I don’t mean ‘we’ as in Brits, I just mean in general, people are always trying to find differences.

For me, I just think make the most of being here, because you’re not here very long. Nobody is. Even if you’re the oldest person in the world, you’re still not here, relatively, very long. So do these things, and keep people around that make you happy. And keep out the miserable people!

Carol tries out the 'Car Insurance Epic Mind Drive'

Carol also took the time to tell us about MoneySuperMarket’s epic driving experience, the 'Car Insurance Epic Mind Drive', a unique driving experience she tried out for herself earlier this week, that allows users to control a car using their brainwaves alone.

“It’s quite spooky actually when you see it happen,” she tells us, the day after trying out the new technology for herself, “And my brain never stops, so you have to really concentrate - but I’m quite good with now with the flying. So it was really really interesting.

“You have to train the computer to understand your brain patterns when you’re thinking - left, right, stop and start is fundamentally what it is.”

If you’d like the opportunity to 'use your head' and try out this unique technology for yourself, you can register for the chance to drive the mind-controlled car on Money SuperMarket’s website, by clicking here, before 12pm on Wednesday 15 July.
