Georg Elser wasn't just another brave resistance fighter in World War II. He was German, and he almost succeeded in changing the course of history, by assassinating Adolf Hitler, before his plans had brought havoc and tragedy to Europe.

Watch our Exclusive Clip of '13 Minutes' above...

Now, his story has been brought to the screen by German director Oliver Hirschbiegel, whose previous film 'Downfall' intimately explored the last days of Hitler in his bunker.

Christian Friedel plays the extraordinarily brave resistance fighter Georg Elser

'13 Minutes' shows how George Elser attempted to carry out a bomb explosion that would finish off the Fuhrer at a Nazi convention in Munich in October 1939.

For years, his story remained untold until last year, when German Chancellor Angela Merkel finally acknowledged Elser as one of Germany's great heroes of the resistance. She called him "one who struggled on his own... to try to prevent the war".

'13 Minutes' is released in UK cinemas on 17 July. Watch the trailer below...

The Novel That Does for Autistic Girls What 'Curious Incident' Did for Boys

Being the headteacher of Limspfield Grange School is a brilliant and sometimes slightly scary job. Why? Because I get to work with 72 amazing and feisty teenage girls with communication and interaction difficulties (including autism). Sure there are times when things at school are bumpy or tricky, but it is always worth it because we believe that 'together we make a difference'. And when students started to hassle me about the lack of literature available for teenage girls with autism, I told them that they should do something about it. And that is exactly what they did.

The students from Limpsfield Grange sometimes go out and speak at public events about their experiences of autism. They are a force of nature. At one event last summer two of my students door-stepped a prominent member of the National Autistic Society and explained how frustrated they were at the lack of representation of girls and women with autism in the media. They suggested that the students at Limpsfield Grange should write a book, and he should fund it. To my endless surprise he agreed on the spot. That day M was born.

The girls worked with writer Vicky Martin in workshops to lay the foundations of the story. What were the main things they wanted to say through a novel? Who were they writing for? It was very clear they felt lucky to have so many friends who were just like them - kind, compassionate, curious teenage girls with autism. They felt they were accepted and belonged to a cool, quirky community. But that not everyone on the autistic spectrum shared this experience, that some were isolated, and not everyone thought being autistic was a good thing. So they wanted to write a story that would reach out and support others.

The result was our amazing story M is for Autism, which charts the journey to find "normal" for teenager M. We are so proud of our story it's hard to put into words. When it was published the girls gathered in my office and looked through the book saying things like "Oh that's my bit" or "I drew that!" I'm not sure as a headteacher you get many days in your career that are better than that.

So, the brilliant feisty girls of the Grange have written a novel, and have been in a TV documentary (Girls With Autism, ITV Wednesday 15 July). And now they are restless again. One asked me recently when Michelle Obama would visit our school... And my advice was if you want her to come then you'd best ask her. I am sure it is only a matter of time before they persuade her to visit us.

The ‘Love Island’ contestants have only known each other six weeks, but that hasn’t stopped one of them proposing.

That’s right, Jonathan Clark has genuinely asked girlfriend Hannah Elizabeth to marry him.

In scenes to air on tonight’s finale of the ITV2 reality series, the Essex boy will be seen getting down on bended knee.

The proposal came as the group took part in a commitment ceremony task, which clearly spurred Jon on to pop the question.

As he and Josh Ritchie got ready for the task, he told his pal of his plan, insisting he was being “100 per cent serious”.

“You’ve got some f**king balls if you’re going to do it,” Josh said to his friend.

Jon then had an important phone call to make… to Hannah’s dad.

Speaking to him in the Beach Hut, Jon said: “Your daughter means the absolute world to me, and I would do anything for her, I want to come out of here together and make a statement to her to make her believe that I want a complete future with her.

“I wanted to ask you, could I ask your daughter to marry me?”

“Go on, go do it…you’ve got mine and Colette’s blessing, 100 per cent,” Joey replied. ’

A relieved Jon told the cameras: “It’s the perfect fairytale and I couldn’t be happier…I just f**king pray she says yes!”

As he later delivered his vows to Hannah in the commitment ceremony, his big moment then arrived...

Hannah couldn't believe Jon's proposal

“Hannah, we have been together from day one and I fell in love with you straightaway. You are my princess, my world and I love you so much,” he said.

“I’ve written you a poem: Love is mad, love is crazy, love makes me feel like a daisy, love is scary, love is cool though, loving you makes me feel like a rainbow, every day you give me the horn, and every day I feel like a unicorn. My love for you is from the heart, even though I always fart, my love for you will never end till the day I meet my end. And obviously I’ve met you and you’re the woman of my dreams…

“Hannah, would you do the honour of making me the happiest man alive and marry me?”

The rest of the group were left gob-smacked

But what will Hannah’s answer be? Tune in to the final of ‘Love Island’ tonight at 9pm on ITV2 to find out.

Earworms from Finland to Plzen: A Festival Playlist

$

0
Returning from a tour, you often find your head spinning with music, hardly any of it your own. Far from it; nothing puts you off a song you've helped create like playing it 102 times, and those are just the soundchecks. A festival tour, where you're encountering different bands from all over the place day after day, is even more likely to fill your brain with the most insistent variant of demented earworms. And so, upon my return from Fink's June/July festival run, I present to you, with the assistance of Spotify, my latest Festival Trip Tunes:

1. Teksti-TV 666, "Sä Et Tuu Enää Takaisin Koskaan"

So we arrive in Finland and get whisked ten thousand miles north by two nice drivers until we arrive at a rainy forest clearing where someone has stuck up a couple of stages and a few adverts for Foster's lager. I'm being disingenuous of course; Provinssirock is a vibey and well-established festival but I guess we're feeling a little jaded and weirded-out today. The famous Nordic "nightless night" has sodded about a bit with our sleep patterns and, in fact, it's a little bit cold and rainy. But we go through the usual motions - coffee drinking, Haribo eating, site exploring, wifi hunting - until around 5pm when the most unholy racket comes blasting out of the tent in which we're playing later. I poke my head inside to see six Finnish dudes of varying size, hairdo and clothing style, ripping through a pacy number that, thrillingly, only seems to involve one chord. This monolithic chunk of stoner indie is enunciated by no less than four guitarists, all of whom seem to be playing, and for that matter, singing, the same thing. The next song starts and it sounds practically identical. After three songs I'm thinking about wandering off in search of an ice cream, but after five songs, Teksti-TV 666 have managed the admirable feat of injecting subtle changes into this most inpenetrable of noises, to the point where I'm practically hypnotised. And to be fair, their energetic performance is helping: leaping around, sharing mics, swilling beer and roaring out the (Finnish) lyrics. I'm hooked. The song I've picked - "Sä Et Tuu Enää Takaisin Koskaan" - has been chosen primarily because it includes something approaching a tune and a chord change, but to be honest nothing will emphasise quite how kick-ass they are live. Fin corners one of the band afterwards and jokily suggests they add a fifth guitarist. "We already have four," frowns the chap. "That is enough."

2. Beatsteaks, "Jane Became Insane"

For reasons none of us can quite fathom, we spend four hours at Helsinki airport the next morning before getting on an 8am flight to Berlin. By the time we arrive at Kosmonaut Festival in rural Chemnitz, we are totally wiped out. "What we really need now," I remark to Mike our tour manager, "is a beautiful sunny day and some lovely dressing rooms with deckchairs outside right next to a lake. Oh, and maybe an old-fashioned telephone for me to fuck about with while Guy our bass player takes a daft picture." And holy pants, Mike delivered. What he didn't manage to stop was it raining halfway through us playing "Looking Too Closely", but you can't have it all. When we come offstage we're feeling pretty pleased with ourselves, but then German punk-rockers Beatsteaks come on and show everyone how it's done. Beatsteaks are a living embodiment of the theory that it's possible for a band to have a long, credible and lucrative career in Germany without the rest of the world having the foggiest idea who they are. That said, they're playing London soon, so go along to see for yourselves. They played "Jane Became Insane" second in their set, and it almost made me drop my bratwurst.

3. Kwabs, "Perfect Ruin"

The well-organised fun continues the following day, with a visit to Open Air St. Gallen in Switzerland. Far from being a jolly medium-sized event in a town square with some beer and sausage stalls and perhaps even an oompah band between acts, Open Air SG is a high-octane enormo-fest with constant televisual coverage, a great lineup (Placebo! The Districts! Kate Tempest! Tove Lo!... erm... Fink!) and its own charge card for artist catering (I managed to glean a large breakfast, two portions of chips and some very high-quality chicken nuggets off of mine before we departed). Apart from anything else, we're excited about today because two of our regular crew, monitor tech Karima and tour manager Simon, are here with their "other band", Kwabs. Simon and Karima are two people who could definitely benefit from human cloning; ours and Kwabs' lives would be appreciably richer if there were simply two of each of them. Anyway, we also get to hang out with Kwabs and team, all of whom gratifyingly come along to see us play. Halfway through our set, like one of those phoenix thingies, Karima rises out of the audience, parked upon Simon's shoulders. From the stage, we all beam at her. Then she gets tonked on the head with someone's festival flag. Happy days.

4. Blaudzun, "Promises Of No Man's Land"

Spare a brief thought for the people of the Belgian village of Werchter.
Done that? Okay - let's move on. Rock Werchter is huge. The main stage area is so massive, there are actually three levels of closeness the audience can attain, all monitored by an electronic counting system that resembles the automatic passport gates at Heathrow. The third stage, where we're playing - that's the third stage, as in, the third largest - is roughly the size of Wembley Arena. You could probably use it to build aircraft carriers in, let alone aircraft. All this, combined with an artist compound I'd actually consider taking my family on holiday to, and we're feeling pretty special by the time we pitch up backstage with our gear. Blaudzun, from Utrecht, is currently onstage, pounding out some passionate stuff to an enthusiastic afternoon crowd. Fin and I crane our necks to look at the extent of the audience, and kinda wish we hadn't. There are millions of them. You can barely see the other end of the room. I wander out into the crowd, clocking the giant video screens on either side of the stage, projecting Blaudzun and team's every movement and minutiae to the back of the vast hangar. We'd better rise to this particular occasion. I regroup with Fin and the boys and we re-jig our list of songs, extracting some of the more subtle moments so it's 50 minutes of pure Fink drive. Happily, come our showtime, it seems to work...

5. Red Fang, "Wires"

"Please don't let me talk lots of shit to Red Fang," Guy instructs. "If you think I'm hassling them too much - extract me." Having seen their powerhouse, riff-tastic performance on the Werchter main stage shortly after breakfast, Guy has noticed Red Fang's dressing room is right next to ours and is anticipating being somewhat loose of tongue later this evening. Well, what can I do? I think Guy sat and drank with them for about two hours. I dropped by just to check he wasn't making a complete arse of himself, but everyone seemed as happy as a bunch of beardy dudes at a Labor Day barbecue in Portland. Funny that. When in Belgium, eh?

6. Everything Everything, "Hapsburg Lippp"

Day off the next day, so I can finally get my teeth into the new Everything Everything album. I stick on my headphones and wander round the town of Zwolle where we're playing the next night. Goodness me, EE are a nutty bunch of weirdos. Their music veers between breathtaking beauty and madcap noise-smithery of the strangest order. For every relatively orthodox "Distant Past" or "Regret", there's a "Fortune 500" or "Reptiles" ("Baby, it's all right to feel like a fat child in a pushchair"). It's confusing in the finest possible way. The extra tracks on the deluxe album are even odder, none more so than "Hapsburg Lippp" which buries itself in my brain for the next few days. What is he on about? When the album finally crashes to a halt, I've reached my destination: a drum shop, where I need to buy some spares. Bloody place is closed on a Monday. I hit "repeat" on the album and head off in search of a beer...

7. Serafyn, "Go Down North"

Should someone take Serafyn aside quietly and tell them that north is traditionally up, not down? Ah, who cares, when the music's this great? After a very nice gig in Zwolle (supported by Sem Sprang - very good but unfortunately not on Spotify), we enter the German hot zone where temperatures reach 38 degrees and packets of Ritter chocolate melt in seconds. We've been to Sputnikhalle in Münster once before, but it wasn't like this. The upstairs dressing room is so baking that we only set foot inside to grab something from the fridge, then run straight out again. I'm ashamed to say that we actually sit on our air-conditioned bus most of the time. Then Serafyn, an acoustic quintet from Basel, show up and cool the whole place down with their relaxed vibes and sweet string-laden pop. We've been trying to schedule a guest appearance from them for a while, so it's lovely to finally make it happen. They've tightly rehearsed their set with segues between songs and choreographed talky bits, managing to fit about eight tracks into their 30-minute slot. "That was like Queen at Live Aid!" I remark afterwards to one of the two chaps in the band. He looks puzzled. Live Aid probably happened about ten years before he was born.

8. Fink, "Too Late"

I can explain. Firstly, we're the only band at Ulm Ulmerzelt the next day so no-one else's music is really going around my head. Secondly, "Too Late" might be our next single, so our manager instructed us to sharpen up the live version, and of course we always do what we're told. Problem is, Ruben Hein our pianist features quite heavily in the song, and he keeps buggering off to, I dunno, be a pop star or something. So in Ulm, Chris has to play his regular guitar part as well as pretending to be Ruben, who is about a foot taller and also Dutch. Chris just about manages it. The Ulm gig is one of those lovely communal summer festivals they do particularly well in Germany, and although we're still talking temperatures of around 30 even at night time, tradition has it that all the volunteers and musicians sit around a massive campfire after the show. They're hurling wooden pallets onto this bad boy and it's roastingly, unnecessarily hot, but something is compelling us to stay close. Must be the cavemen in us. Idly, and in what according to Chris is a particularly loud English voice, I muse that it would be the perfect time to roast some sausages on sticks. One of the festival chaps rushes off to get a large packet of bockwurst and another (no joke) runs into the forest to get four sticks which he then presents to one of the womenfolk to dutifully sharpen into spears. We are then handed these creations and everyone looks at us, as if to say, "You wanted them? You got them." We prong a sausage each with the spears and attempt to start cooking them. Harder than it looks. I still have no idea why, but apparently the approved method is to spear the sausage at the end, so the wurst becomes a continuation of the spear's straight line, if you get me. But I went straight for the middle of the sausage (like you would) and of course the damn thing fell off into the fire after about 2 minutes. I rescued it; it was covered in ash but I rinsed it under the tap and carried on, because it was too late to start again.

9. Brns, "Mexico"

Funny old world, innit. Just when you think it's all over; just when you've had one of the boringest, hottest days in recent memory - in a city famous for its beer, but being unable to drink it (we're not scheduled onstage until 11pm); just when you think all the other bands are going to be like the one you saw at 11am (a bewildering ska-metal collective, one of whom is dressed in shiny turquoise flares) - and after all this, you end up seeing the best band of the week. Brns (pronounced brains) amble onstage at about 8pm and basically blow everyone else away. We are in Plzen, at the Rock For People Europe festival (the smaller, younger brother of the more-established Rock For People festival; they may as well have called it Rock For People Metro or even Rock For People Express) and after a distinctly underwhelming afternoon of which the undisputed highlight is being locked out of our dressing room for an hour, Brns, all the way from Brussels, whose stage setup Fin and I have already noticed with mild interest (two drum kits, glockenspiel, strange multicoloured chime thingies, about seven keyboards), begin their set to a half-filled room. What can I tell you? The drummer is the lead vocalist. But this ain't no chilled-out Don Henley situation. He plays drums like his life depends on it, and sings like he's screaming in pain - in tune - from the sheer effort of playing the drums. The guitarist looks like he's just been dragged out of a university library but displays a vivid showmanship and nonchalant way with his loop pedal. The keyboardist/percussionist, smiling throughout, looks like a mild-mannered character until the majority of the songs' conclusion when he pounces on the other drum set-up and punishes it for its mere existence. And the bass player looks quite suave, tall and Gallic. If one could still smoke onstage, he'd be puffing on a Gauloise, kinda thing. And the songs are nuts: endearingly meaningless lyrics are roared with the passion of a cup final football chant, and math-rock guitar licks flood out of the amps and drench your ears. And those beats. I can hardly imagine playing them at all, let alone singing lead vocals at the same time. Brns have me hooked for the whole forty-five minutes they play, to the point where I begin littering the Twittersphere with not very good phone pictures of the show. "We are so happy to be here!" yells the singer for the fifth time, in a manner rather too reminiscent of that church fundraising scene in Coming To America - and then they are gone, leaving me to pick up the pieces of my mind and prepare for our own show. Shit. How does the beginning of "Pilgrim" go again?

Fink are on tour in the UK and Europe throughout the remainder of the year - see here for where we're going

Amber Heard Charged With Illegally Importing Husband Johnny Depp's Dogs Into Australia

Amber Heard has been ordered to appear in court in Queensland, to face a charge of illegally importing her husband Johnny Depp’s two dogs into Australia.

The story unfolded back in May, when it was revealed that Johnny’s two pooches had been taken into the country secretly via private jet, a move that broke the country’s strict quarantine laws.

Now, a statement from government officials has confirmed that it is Amber, not Johnny, who has been charged and ordered to appear in court.

The Guardian reports that the importation charge Amber faces carries a maximum penalty of a AUS$102,000 (£48,000) fine, and 10 years in prison.

There is also believed to be a separate false document charge, for which the maximum penalty is one year in prison and a AU$10,200 fine.

A statement from officials reads: "Ms Amber Heard was served with a summons issued by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on July 14.

"The CDPP's action follows an incident where a biosecurity officer attended a Gold Coast property in April and found two dogs alleged to be illegally imported.

"All animals entering Australia must have an import permit, and have undergone relevant testing and health checks signed off by a government veterinarian from the exporting country to ensure pests and diseases from overseas are not brought here."

It was previously reported that Johnny would be the one in trouble with the authorities, however the ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ star is not currently facing charges.

When Aussie officials found out his dogs had arrived in the country, their agriculture minister Barnaby Joyce stated that they would be put down if they weren't moved.

“Mr Depp has to either take his dogs back to California or we're going to have to euthanise them,” Barnaby stated. "He's now got about 50 hours left to remove the dogs. He can put them on the same charter jet he flew out on and fly back out of our nation."

Shortly after the minister’s comments, the dogs were spotted being taken from Johnny’s Aussie address to a local airport.

Chris Brown's Aunt 'Held At Gunpoint' By Robbers, At The 'Loyal' Singer's Home

Chris Brown’s aunt was held hostage at the singer’s home, when robbers broke, it has been reported.

SEE MORE:

TMZ have claimed that three men targeted Chris’s home in a burglary, while he was out clubbing, but his aunt was in the property.

The intruders then reportedly ordered his aunt into a closet at gunpoint, before “ransacking” the ‘Forever’ singer’s home, taking money and other valuables, then fleeing the scene at around 2am, on Wednesday last week.

Chris’s aunt alerted the police to the break-in but, by the time officers had arrived on the property, the robbers had fled.

Photos of Chris from around the time of the incident show show him leaving Argyle nightclub in Los Angeles, after a night out, wearing just a red jacket with no shirt underneath and displaying his tattooed torso.

A source has now told TMZ that the burglars had deliberately targeted Chris’s home, knowing that the residence was his property, and that he was out at a nightclub at the time, based on what they reportedly told his aunt.

The three men’s identity is not yet known as they are thought to have been wearing ski masks during the incident, but the website claims that police believe the men knew Chris, and were familiar with the layout of the house.

Last month, Chris was forced to deny accusations that he’d caused drama on a private flight, by blowing marijuana smoke in a flight attendant’s face, and then verbally abusing them, insisting: “Chris was smoking on the plane prior to takeoff as was a companion of his. The pilot explained it was a non-smoking flight so Chris immediately extinguished his cigarette.”

The first extended trailer for 'Legend', has been released, showing Tom Hardy in fine form as both Reggie and Ronnie Kray, in this biopic about the infamous East End gangster twins.

Director Brian Helgeland ('LA Confidential', 'Mystic River') takes us, mostly through Reggie's eyes, into the 1960s underworld, which saw the violent brothers moving effortlessly between their East End home, pubs full of threats and violence, and the glamour of clubs and parties where they brushed with celebrities and were snapped by photographer David Bailey.

Tom Hardy is in doubly fine form as Ronnie and Reggie Kray in 'Legend'

Tom Hardy stars as both Reggie and Ronnie in the film, but what could have been a distracting gimmick is soon confirmed as a double tour de force from the 'Mad Max' star. Good luck to the people who have to sort this out come Awards Season.

The film also stars David Thewlis, Taron Egerton and Christopher Eccleston, with Emily Browning appearing as Reggie's tragic wife Frances.

'Legend' will be in UK cinemas from 9 September.

Kay Mellor, who used to write ‘Coronation Street’ scripts back in the 1980s, has hit out at the soap, criticising the way they said farewell to Deirdre Barlow.

The writer and actress wasn’t impressed by the goodbye scenes, which were planned with the help of the late Anne Kirkbride’s family.

kay mellor

Speaking to the Mirror, she explained that she didn’t think Monday night’s funeral scenes were emotional enough, stating: “I should have been in a heap really, there should have been something more and I just felt as if it was engineered. It felt false somehow.”

Reflecting on her time in the soap’s writing room, Kay adds: “Those [Our] scripts were brilliant. I don’t think there is the craft there that there used to be. I did feel as if it was a missed opportunity.”

‘Corrie’ bosses have hit back, telling the Mirror: “‘Coronation Street’ has some of the finest drama writers working in TV, a view shared by our loyal viewers who watch the show week after week.”

While Kay wasn't impressed, plenty of viewers enjoyed the episode

Deirdre’s funeral was seen by over 8 million viewers, and the episode was a tough watch for many fans, who commended Bill Roache’s acting skills.

In character as Ken, Bill delivered an emotional eulogy, paying tribute to his on-screen wife, and in turn, actress Anne.

"She was a friend, a neighbour, a mother and a grandmother, a confidante," he said. "She was a woman who spent most of her life in one street. A lynchpin of the community.

"Her family were her priority. To Deirdre, family was family, and that was that.”

Coronation Street’ actor Jack P Shepherd proved where his loyalties lie, when he posted a rather unfavourable photo towards ‘Emmerdale’ on his Twitter page.

The soap star had been attending a party on the rival soap’s set with a few of his co-stars, during which he posted a photo on his official Twitter page, pretending to have a wee against the iconic ‘Emmerdale’ sign.

Well… at least we hope he was pretending.

jack
Jack P Shepherd quickly deleted this snap

Clearly realising soap fans might not take kindly to him posting the snap, it quickly vanished from his page, but not before a few of his eagle-eyed followers got the chance to screengrab it.

A source tells The Sun: “Jack had a few drinks like the rest of the 'Corrie' cast, but as the night went on he got a bit boisterous.

“He thought it would be funny to pose for this snap and posted it online, but took it down within seconds.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Jack P Shepherd has made a social media faux pas.

Last year, when a fire broke out at Manchester Dogs’ Home last year, several Manchester-based celebrities were tweeting their condolences and ways their followers could help, while Jack posted a joke about the incident.

He later apologised for his ill-advised tweet, but not before telling people they needed to “lighten up”. Oh dear.

The source continues: “Jack knew this could get him in trouble. There’s a big rivalry between the soaps but the ITV bosses don’t want any headaches over rows.

“Jack’s been in trouble before as well and they’ve all been warned about how they use social media.”

Last September, it was claimed that 'Corrie' bosses were "cracking down" on the cast's bad behaviour away from the screen, following Jack's unfortunate remark.

Louis Tomlinson 'Receives Baby Advice From Simon Cowell', After Reports One Direction Star Is To Become A Dad

Simon Cowell is used to acting as a mentor on ‘The X Factor’, and now it seems he’s dishing out parental wisdom too, as he’s reportedly been giving expectant father Louis Tomlinson advice.

It was claimed earlier this week that the One Direction singer is set to become a dad for the first time, following claims that US stylist Briana Jungwirth is pregnant with his child.

And after the 23-year-old found out the shock news, he’s said to have turned to his boss for some wise words on fatherhood, after he became a dad to son Eric in February 2014.

A source told People magazine: “Simon was one of the first people Louis called after he’d told his family. Louis was so excited and he wanted to tell Simon himself.

“Simon was absolutely delighted for Louis and told him that becoming a dad was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He told him if he ever needed any advice to let him know.”

Another insider told The Mirror: “He told Louis it will obviously be a change. But he knows what an amazing experience being a dad has been for himself.”

The music mogul is also said to have offered Louis the use of his private jet to fly between the US and the UK so he’s able to fulfill both his commitments as a dad and to One Direction.

Simon and Louis have a close relationship, as earlier this year the 1D singer launched a new record label under Simon’s Syco company.

Last year, Louis was also a regular fixture at the ‘X Factor’ studios, helping Simon mentor his acts.

Sam Smith wasn't exactly struggling in the talent department, but his latest announcement suggests there may be no end to what he's capable of.

The multi-award winning singer-songwriter Sam Smith has just announced that he will now be creating his own fashion line.

He shared the news via his Instagram page, revealing that he would be collaborating with the designers at Balenciaga.

Judging by the short video he released teasing fans about the news, it's going to be a chic and classy affair.

The singer will not only be modelling the collection, but creatively collaborating on its design, which Balenciaga named #balxsamsmith on Instagram.

Smith promised that his fans would get a glimpse of the Fall-Winter Collection soon, telling them to watch this space.

You’ll be able to see my full FW15 @balenciaga Men’s campaign VERY soon.. so happy xx #Balenciaga

The announcement suggests there will be no letting up in the whirlwind 2015 Smith has already been having. He has already cleaned up four Grammy Awards this year, as well as showing off a remarkable weight loss, which he credited to Amelia Freer's Eat Nourish Glow diet.

Smith was forced to have surgery on his throat earlier this year, leaving fans concerned that they wouldn't be able to hear his velvety tones for a while.

But alongside the exciting news of his collaboration with Balenciaga, he just announced on Instagram that "MY THROAT IS LOOKING BLOODY FANTASTIC."

Zoe Kravitz Claims She Was Excluded From 'Dark Knight Rises' Auditions 'Because They Weren't Going Urban'

Zoe Kravitz is the latest actress to break her silence on the audition process in Hollywood, claiming that she was excluded for auditions for Batman thriller 'The Dark Knight Rises' because of her ethnicity.

Zoe, the daughter of stars Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet - told Nylon Magazine that she wasn't permitted to try out for the final film in the franchise. "They told me I couldn't get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren't 'going urban'," she said.

Zoe Kravitz has revealed the reason she was given for not being allowed to audition for 'Dark Knight Rises'

Zoe adds this whole concept confused her. "It was like, 'What does that have to do with anything? I have to play the role like, 'Yo, what's up Batman? What's going on wit chu?'"

This assertion by the successful actress, who has previously appeared in hits including 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and 'Divergent' is the latest in a string of claims by women in the industry, revealing the industry to be littered with inequalities when it comes to decisions about casting and salaries.

Rose McGowan has previously spoken out on the curious process of auditions

'Grindhouse' actress Rose McGowan recently disclosed that, when she was set to audition for an Adam Sandler, comedy, she was told, 'push up bras encouraged, and form-fitting jeans'.

She later added that her agent had dropped her for coming out with these revelations.

And 'Honourable Woman' star Maggie Gyllenhaal previously revealed that she had been told that, as a 37-year-old woman, she was too old to play the love interest of a 55-year-old male star.

These revelations come on the heels of the hacked Sony emails, which revealed Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence's salary for 'American Hustle' to be significantly less than those of her male co-stars, only receiving 7% of the profits compared with the 9% of Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.

Dame Helen Mirren has summed up the problem of sexism and outrageous in Hollywood as, "f***ing outrageous". No doubt she'd be thinking the same thing about Zoe's predicament.

Wonder what we'll be hearing next...

Louis Tomlinson took to the stage in Seattle on Wednesday night, performing a gig with his One Direction bandmates just hours after it emerged that he is reportedly set to become a father.

It's been claimed that the singer is expecting a baby with US stylist Briana Jungwirth, and American fans jumped at the chance to be the first to congratulate Louis on the news.

Many concert-goers managed to put together baby-themed signs for the ‘On The Road Again’ tour night, though Louis didn’t actually discuss the rumoured pregnancy.

Weirdly, just days before, one fan threw a doll on stage.

Louis - who presumably knew about the reports at the time - managed to shrug off the jokey incident, picking up the baby toy, before saying “this isn’t even real”, and flinging it back into the crowd.

Watch his reaction in this Vine (story continues below)...

The baby reports first emerged on Tuesday night, when sources revealed Briana’s “surprise” pregnancy.

“Louis is really excited about becoming a dad,” a source told The Sun. “Louis really cares about Briana and thinks she will be a great mum. Their friendship has got even stronger though this.”

Naturally, 1D fans went into meltdown, and the hashtag #OhNoLouis was trending on Twitter within minutes - but who is Briana?

He’s used to spending most of his time in the water, so Tom Daley was the perfect choice to help raise awareness of Shark Week in the UK.

MORE: 21 Reasons To Love Tom Daley As He Celebrates His Coming Of Age

And the fact he was required to wear minimal clothes in order to have one of the predators painted onto his body was always going to go down well with his fans.

But some of those fans have also questioned why the Olympic diver as associated himself with SeaWorld, who are behind the campaign.

tom daley

The 21-year-old teamed up with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment to create the striking image in a bid to ‘challenge misconceptions surrounding sharks and highlight the vital role they play in the health of the ecosystem’, according to the press release.

SeaWorld, which has 11 parks across the United States, was the subject of a 2013 documentary, ‘Blackfish’.

The film focused on Tilikum, an orca held by SeaWorld, and the controversy over keeping killer whales in captivity.

The company saw its stock fall by 50 per cent in the wake of the film.

After seeing the pics, some of Tom’s fans have taken to Twitter to ask why he is affiliating himself with SeaWorld.

Talking about his involvement in the campaign, Tom said: “I’ve always been really fascinated by sharks. They’re incredible marine animals, but not always in the news for the right reasons.

“Sharks play a vital role to the health of the ocean,” he continued. “They keep fish populations balanced and protect habitats. Without sharks, the health of the ocean ecosystem would completely change.”

Mike Price, assistant curator of fishes at SeaWorld added: “The more you know about any species, the more you will want to protect it.

“Meeting sharks up close at SeaWorld or a local aquarium can be the perfect way for even young children to get up close and connect with these amazing predators. We want visitors to learn to respect and appreciate sharks, not fear them.”

We have reached out to Tom’s rep for further comment.

Kate Garraway Copies Susanna Reid's Finger-Licking Antics As She Sucks Honey Off Her Thumb On 'Good Morning Britain' (VIDEO)

What is it with ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenters licking things off their fingers? Just a day after Susanna Reid broke the internet after she slurped Angel Delight off her pinky, Kate Garraway has also been getting saucy on the ITV breakfast show.

READ MORE:

The host followed in her co-stars footsteps as she tried some honey on Thursday (16 July) morning’s show, licking the sticky treat off her thumb.

It came as Kate and Charlotte Hawkins were interviewing Blur’s Alex James about his Big Feastival.

And even Alex noticed that Kate was following where Susanna had previously led, joking: “Phwoar, that’s so sexy.”

"That is really good," Kate said.

Susanna got Twitter all of a tizz during a section on Wednesday’s show about retro foods.

Dipping her finger in a bowl of butterscotch Angel Delight, she said suggestively: "You know what, I wasn't given a spoon, but I find with Angel Delight you can just use your finger," she told viewers, before tucking into the butterscotch flavoured dessert.

"That's good," she added.

Susanna is known for her suggestive presenting style on ‘GMB’ but recently hit out at suggestions that she “flirts” with male guests, insisting: “It’s frustrating - I’m a professional interviewer whose job it is to get the absolute best out of people. To then have it described in a different way, feels a bit like come on, really?”

'Big Brother' 2015: Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace Won't Be At Live Final, Due To 'Security Risk'

Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace has revealed that she won’t be joining the rest of the ‘Big Brother’ housemates at this year’s live final.

SEE MORE:

After nine weeks of arguments, tears and sexual tension, the ‘BB’ contestants are all about to be reunited, when this year’s winner is crowned in Thursday night’s live final.

But despite being a central figure in the current series of ‘BB’, Aisleyne has now disappointed her supporters by revealing that she won’t be putting an appearance in at the live final, due to what has been deemed a “security risk”.

Aisleyne made a surprise return to ‘BB’ last month, making waves right from the get-go with her infamous opening remark to Helen Wood: “Basic rations for a basic bitch.”

While the ‘Big Brother 7’ finalist didn’t go into detail about her “security risk” comment, it’s a fair assumption it might have something to do with her long-standing feud with Helen.

During their time in the house together, Aisleyne and Helen came to blows on a number of occasions, with their arguments then spilling out into the outside world, once they both left the ‘BB’ compound.

Things came to a head between the pair last week, when Aisleyne tweeted Helen’s number to her followers, after a “drunken” night out.

Helen later wrote about the incident in her column for the Daily Star Online, saying: “Aisleyne may have been drunk, but putting a number online?! Not only did she lose me business as I had to change my number immediately, but my safety was put at risk.

“I've had access to this girl's address and number for weeks, they were emailed to me, but I've never once shown anyone and I deleted the details. I'd never expose this information because of the number of weirdos out there that could do serious damage.

“For someone to take that one step too far into personal space and identity, you've lost something along the way to invite that level of harassment.”

Joel Williams has been named the favourite to emerge victorious in this Thursday’s ‘Big Brother’ finale, which kicks off at 9pm on Channel 5.

Kim Kardashian's Nude Photos For W Magazine Aren't Making Her Cry Anymore, Judging From This Throwback Snap (PICS)

One of the most memorable ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ moments came when Kim Kardashian suffered a meltdown, following a photo-shoot with W magazine.

SEE MORE:

The shoot saw Kim stripping completely naked, and although she was assured that no actual nudity was going to be featured in the photo spread, she was alarmed to discover that this was not the case.

At the time, Kim was furious, crying: “I am so f***ing mad right now… she promised me I would be covered with artwork on top of me! They weren’t going to show my ass crack or my nipples, this is full f***ing porn.”

Kim Kardashian's infamous meltdown

Despite her anger at the time, Kim appears to have put it all behind her now, as she's sharde a throwback behind-the-scenes photo on her Twitter page.

The NSFW snap shows Kim lying on her back, covered in silver body paint, while her photo is being taken.

However, she still isn’t ready to say anything especially favourable about the photo-shoot, simply captioning it: “Shooting my @wmag cover”, alongside a ‘Throwback Thursday’ hashtag.

Following her disappointing experience with W magazine, Kim vowed at the time that she would never pose naked again… although, as we all know, she's since gone back on this promise. Many times.

Last year, Kim stripped off completely for a photo-shoot with GQ magazine, after they named her their Woman of The Year.

Of course, that was merely a drop in the ocean compared to what came next, when she bore all for Paper magazine in her infamous ‘Break The Internet’ cover shoot.
