The first trailer for the reboot of ‘80s classic ‘Danger Mouse’ has been revealed by the BBC.

The hit show will be making a comeback this month, with the title character being voiced by ‘Pointless’ presenter Alexander Armstrong.

Obviously, his ever-faithful sidekick Penfold, voiced by Kevin Eldon, is also returning, to help Danger Mouse protect the world from the villainous Baron Greenback.

Now, a new trailer has been revealed, featuring the new-look mouse fighting his nemesis.

CBBC have secured an all-star cast for the reboot, and Stephen Fry will provide the voice of the rodent hero’s boss Colonel K, while Alexander’s ‘Pointless’ co-host Richard Osman is voicing the jellyfish scientist called Professor Strontium Jellyfishowitz.

Other cast members include Shauna MacDonald and Morwenna Banks, and ‘Come Dine With Me’ voiceover man, Dave Lamb - yes, really! - will take on the role of narrator.

The new series will initially run for 52 episodes on the CBBC channel in 2015.

Her Majesty the Queen - As You've Never Seen Her Before...

Whatever your thoughts on the monarchy - staunch royalist or get-rid-of-them republican - the fact remains that the Queen is an iconic part of British culture. She's arguably one of our most famous ever celebrities, albeit a sometimes divisive one.

On Wednesday, 9 September, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest-serving monarch in British history, overtaking her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. She will have ruled for more than 63 years and 216 days.

So I was chuffed to see that my favourite London-based street artist Pegasus has portrayed Her Maj on the streets of the capital as you've never seen her before.

queen elizabeth
The Pegasus portrait of Queen Elizabeth celebrating her record reign

Painted wearing a purple top with matching stilettos complete with tiara, but with her bum out against a backdrop of a Union Jack and the word 'HISTORY', the stencil-style piece appeared on the side of the Winchester pub in Islington, London, N1, on Wednesday.

queen elizabeth

When I contacted Pegasus via Facebook after seeing it, the artist told me he had wanted to mark the momentous moment of the Queen's record-breaking reign in his trademark way and was inspired by a Miley Cyrus shoot that channeled the legendary Marilyn Monroe. He also added that he never paints on a site without prior permission from the property owner, so the pub landlord clearly fancied a cheeky bit of Liz too.

It's not the first time that Pegasus has chosen the British royal family for his stylish urban art either.

Previous pieces have seen him paint the Queen in Betty Grable's famous 1940s pin-up poster pose, but wearing a Union Jack bathing suit, the Duchess of Cambridge as the Virgin Mary with babe in arms and Prince Harry in his birthday suit.

This latest portrayal from Pegasus is a brilliant bit of art that brings to mind the legendary Jamie Reid's cover for the Sex Pistols' single God Save The Queen, where instead of flashing her behind, she has a safety pin through her nose.

They both give a refreshing alternative to the staid, old-fashioned royal portraits which still get commissioned to this day, as well as poking a bit of fun at the Establishment. Thankfully nowadays, neither artist would be tried for treason and confined to the Tower of London - or lose their heads.

It also a reminder of how beautiful the Queen was - and she ain't so bad nowadays either when you consider she's an admirable 90 years old next April.

I love how street art from the likes of Pegasus can start a conversation, bring a smile, maybe make a satirical point, but more importantly, remind us that art can enrich lives on all levels of society.

Banksy's Dismaland might have taken street art into the mainstream and onto the frontpage, but sometimes, that still being painted on the nation's walls and doors and brightening up sometimes the most bleak of urban areas is often the most immediate and vital art of all.

God save the Queen - and the kings and queens of street art....

'X Factor' 2015: Five Auditions You Won't Want To Miss From Episode 3, Including Jamie Benkert, Alien And Bupsi (PICS)

While The X Factor’s big return to screens may not have set ratings alight last weekend, the likes of Josh Daniel and 4th Power proved there’s still plenty of talent still left to be discovered.

And as the new series continues tonight (5 September), there’s more of the same, as a new bunch of hopefuls do their best to impress judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora.

Here’s just five auditions to keep an eye out for…

Jamie Benkert

jamie benkert

Olly Murs is left questioning whether his dad has something to tell him, when Jamie turns up to audition. The 24-year-old health worker from Essex is a dead ringer for the ‘X Factor’ host, and the judges waste no time in dragging Olly out on stage to check that it’s not just him auditioning again.

But it seems looks aren’t the only thing Jamie and Olly share, as the panel soon discover his voice and stage presence is identical to Mr Murs - but will Jamie be able to bag four yeses as his hero did back in 2009?

Alien

alien x factor

The groups are fast becoming the category to beat this series, and that doesn’t look as if it’s about to change with the arrival of Alien on the stage. With their unusual look, Grimmy is quick to dub them the “Spice Girls from Mars”, and their performance of the Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Pump It’ proves to be just as colourful as their hair.

Simon Lynch

simon lynch x factor

Being from the Isle Of Man, Simon’s audition is preceded by plenty of ‘X Factor’ clichés about being from a small town and having big dreams etc etc.

But don’t dismiss Simon for that reason. The 23-year-old shows he’s able to reach notes that even dogs can’t hear as he takes on ‘If I Were A Boy’. But will the risky decision of singing a Beyoncé ballad pay off for Simon?

Stephanie McCourt

stephanie mccourt x factor

At the risk of dropping a terrible pun, Stephanie’s audition gets off to a shaky start when she performs a slowed down version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ and is stopped by Simon.

But she isn’t about to give up without a fight, and her rendition of Ella Fitzgerald’s ‘Summertime’ has the judge chucking the word “authentic” around like a beach ball. But with not everyone in agreement, will Stephanie lose out on a place at Bootcamp?

Bupsi

bupsi x factor

With a stage name like Bupsi, the panel were expecting a bit of craziness from the 37-year-old from Leeds. But things hit a bump in the road when her version of ‘All My Loving’ fell flat. When Simon then instructs her to “get nasty”, what happens next takes the panel completely by surprise...

‘The X Factor’ airs tonight at 8.15pm on ITV.

'Strictly Come Dancing' 2015: 'Eggheads' Star CJ De Mooi Claims He Was Rejected From Show After Requesting Same-Sex Dance Partner

Eggheads’ star CJ de Mooi has claimed he was rejected from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after requesting a same-sex partner.

MORE 'STRICTLY':

The quiz show boffin was said to be in the running for the new series of the BBC ballroom show, but told producers that he wanted to dance with another man.

CJ - who is in a civil partnership with a man - has now told The Mirror that his request saw bosses choose ‘Eggheads’ host Jeremy Vine for the show instead, being told the show will not have same-sex couples.

“I can’t believe they picked Jeremy over me. I’m quite upset. It’s because I wanted to dance in a same-sex couple,” he said.

“Someone at the BBC told me at least for the foreseeable future neither 'Strictly Come Dancing' or the US version 'Dancing With The Stars' will have a same-sex couple on. How disappointing.”

CJ said he approached producers about starring on ‘Strictly’ in March, and was told he was being considered. But in June, he was told he would not be part of the line-up, with BBC bosses insisting it wasn’t because he wanted a male dance partner.

“Hopefully me speaking out will knock them into the 21st century,” he said.

“Here we are in 2015 with same-sex marriage fully legalised and still no same-sex couples on ‘Strictly’.”

A 'Strictly' spokesperson has since told HuffPost UK: "We never approached nor had any plans to approach CJ to participate in this year’s series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

CJ’s agent gave us the opportunity to consider him but there was only one person we ever wanted from 'Eggheads' and that was Jeremy Vine and we are delighted that we got our man."

On same-sex couples, they added: “'Strictly Come Dancing' has chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples. At the moment we have no plans to introduce same-sex couples in the competition.”

‘Strictly’ judge Craig Revel Horwood has previously said he would like to see same-sex couples on the show, telling OK! magazine earlier this year: “A same-sex couple on Strictly – that is on the cards.

craig revel horwood
Craig Revel Horwood

“It’ll be either this year or next year, but most certainly, it will happen. They did it already in Hungary or somewhere.

“We should encourage that sort of thing, absolutely. There are competitions throughout the world that have same sex couple, you just have to decide who goes backwards, darling!”

However, former professional dancer James Jordan has rejected the idea on several occasions, claiming the show would lose viewers.

He told The Sun: “It’s wrong. I think they would lose so many viewers.

“I have nothing against same-sex couples, if they want to go and do their own competitions. But ballroom and Latin dancing is about a man dancing with a woman – that’s fact.

“It annoys me that people like Craig can say this because he’s gay. That’s the only reason he’s pushing it.”

Daniel Baldwin has become the first star to be evicted from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.

MORE 'CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER':

The US actor had faced the public vote alongside Janice Dickinson, Farrah Abraham, Chris Ellison, Jenna Jameson and Stevi Ritchie and Chloe-Jasmine Whichello on Friday (4 September) night.

Daniel was surprised to discover he’d scored the least amount of votes to save him from the axe, telling host Emma Willis he thought former ‘The Bill’ star Chris would be out before him.

“I didn’t think Chris would have had enough storyline or enough for people to want him to stay, boy was I wrong,” he said.

Asked about the UK/USA divide in the house, Daniel added: “The American team was the louder team. There was very little fighting in the UK team.

“It’s the Janice show. She is a pain in the ass….but if you realise that…that’s why I had no confrontations with her….just let her go.”

The first live eviction show also saw former royal butler Paul Burrell leave the house, after entering as part of a shopping task earlier this week, where he was ushered in to help the US housemates serve the UK team, who were acting as the Royal Family.

Speaking to Emma about his experience in the house, he said: “It’s good to be back, tough but there are some great people in there. It’s been like staying in a high security ward. It was an amazing thrill.”

Adding of Janice, Paul said: “I’d have to fire her if she worked at Buckingham Palace.”

‘Celebrity Big Brother’ continues on Saturday night at 10pm on Channel 5, while the second live eviction will take place on Tuesday at 9pm.

But The Sun reports that Ola Jordan has been left fuming after landing athlete Iwan Thomas, as she wanted to partner Peter Andre, who she believed she could lift the glitterball trophy with.

Ola last won ‘Strictly’ with Chris Hollins in 2009, and was hoping to become the first pro dancer to win the show twice.

Meanwhile, The Mirror have revealed the other pairings on this year’s series, and it turns out Peter has been teamed up with Janette Manrara, who was partnered with Jake Wood on last year’s series.

'X Factor' 2015: Simon Cowell Defends Decision To Include Footage Of Him Crying Over Mother's Death During Josh Daniel's Audition

Simon Cowell has defended ‘X Factor’ producers’ decision to include footage of him upset over his mother’s death in last Sunday’s episode.

MORE 'X FACTOR':

The music mogul was seen breaking down on ITV talent show, when Josh Daniel auditioned with Labrinth’s song ‘Jealous’, which he dedicated to his late best friend.

Simon Cowell was very emotional during Josh Daniel's audition

Simon was choked up and unable to speak and offer feedback to the contestant, and quickly left the panel at the end of the audition.

Backstage footage then showed fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini in tears as she toyed with whether to chase after an emotional Simon, or leave him be.

Speaking to The Sun of the heart-wrenching scenes, Simon said: “They were very cautious about showing the footage to me in the first place for obvious reasons. But then you’ve got to take your personal hat off and put on your producer’s hat, because what happened and it’s not fair on the contestant not to show it.

“You can’t censor stuff like that. In the end I kind of just said to them, ‘I’m OK with it’, but I don’t want to approve anything, I’ll let you make your decision as to what is acceptable and what isn’t.”

Simon admitted he also found it hard to watch the episode, continuing: “Then, when I watched it on the show, it was very difficult to watch back, but that’s just what happens when you make one of these shows.

“Of course, it brought it all back. It is a very difficult thing to know what to do. The contestant didn’t know the situation. He wasn’t doing it to make me upset. He sang the song for his own reasons.

"It was more important that he did a good audition. But it was very raw and it did take me back to the moment, but I think in quite a healthy way. Being upset is a human thing.”

Simon’s mother, Julie Brett, died just days before filming began on the new series of ‘The X Factor’ in July, aged 89 after suffering a stroke.

He previously claimed that returning to work alongside Cheryl, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora had helped him through his grief.

“I know it sounds like a cliché, but having such a strong bond with my mum meant I knew exactly what she'd have said. It would have been, 'This is your show, you love the show, go back and do your job',” he said.

"I'm not going to lie, there were times it was incredibly difficult, but then there were other times I was able to switch my mind off and concentrate on what was happening and the contestants."

Simon Cowell was left hot under the collar on tonight’s (5 September) episode of ‘The X Factor’ after a contestant gave him a lap dance.

Simon and fellow judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Rita Ora were mightily impressed by her sudden personality switch, with the music mogul telling her: "I meant nasty with a small 'n'. That was a big nasty.

“Now I can’t stop thinking about you Bupsi. I loved it when you got on the desk.”

“You just got Cowelled!” Cheryl exclaimed.

'X Factor' 2015: Five Auditions You Must See On Sunday's Episode, Including Anton Stephans, Joselito Peralta And Hannah Kilminster (PICS)

Believe it or not, we’re nearly at the midway point through auditions for this year’s ‘X Factor’, meaning we have have already seen our winner.

MORE 'X FACTOR':

However, we wouldn’t go placing any bets just yet, as there’s a few hopefuls in tonight’s (6 September) show, who could just go all the way.

Here’s just five of the contestants trying out for Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora that we think you should look out for during episode four.

Che Chesterman

che x factor

Rita Ora learns a very valuable lesson about judging a book by its cover when the 18-year-old shelf stacker turns up to audition (did she never watch Susan Boyle on ‘Britain’s Got Talent?!). But it is fair to say that Che’s rendition of Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are?’ appears to come out of completely nowhere.

Joselito Peralta

joselito x factor

In case you couldn’t tell from Joselito’s fabulous ‘do, the Paddington dweller is a hairdresser, who claims that when he was working on a cruise ship doing Chaka Khan’s hair, she told him to pursue his dream of singing. Clearly she’d never heard him sing, that’s all we’re saying. Joselito’s moves, on the other hand, are other worldly.

Tonatha Raihan

tonatha x factor

Schoolchildren up and down the country will be wondering why they don’t have a teacher as cool as this 28-year-old from Kent, when she belts out a saucy rendition of Beyonce’s classic hit ‘Work It Out’ from the Austin Powers soundtrack.

Hannah Kilminster

“I only sing to the pigs and sheep,” explains 30-year-old farmer Hannah as she prepares to take on Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’. And while that’s no way to talk about Nick and Rita, Hannah soon has Simon proclaiming she’s “shaken the whole competition up”.

Anton Stephans

anton x factor

For a minute we thought that Anton had got the wrong show when he brought dog Honey along to his audition. But the pooch is soon a distant memory when the 45-year-old backing singer - who has worked with the likes of Tina Turner in the past - gets to work on his spine-tingling version of Jennifer Hudson’s ‘I Am Changing’.

Gail Platt proves once and for all she’s not to be messed with in ‘Coronation Street’ next week.

MORE 'CORONATION STREET':

After coming home to discover that Callum Logan (Sean Ward) has reared his ugly head once again - well, not so much ugly, very pretty in fact, but nonetheless unwelcome - Helen Worth's character is livid.

Seeing red, she wastes no time in ushering Callum out of her family home, and away from her daughter-in-law, Kylie Platt (Paula Lane).

Upon spotting the ruckus in the street (whatever would Norris say, eh?), David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) furiously rushes over to his wife’s ex, and gets into a scrap with him, causing his young step-son, Max, to angrily tell Callum that he “hates” him.

Trying to get away from Callum, who makes a grab for him, an emotional Max ends up running straight into the road - where Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) is unfortunately coming around the corner in his car.

But will Max escape the incident unscathed?

Oh no!

The Platts have barely had to time to pause for thought this year, thanks in no small part to the return of Gail’s prodigal daughter Sarah-Louise - not to mention her troublesome granddaughter Bethany, who has barely been out of drama since her arrival on the cobbles.

Watch all these dramatic scenes unfold in ‘Coronation Street’, airing on Wednesday, 16 September on ITV at 7.30pm.

‘Emmerdale’ fans have been waiting to see Ross Barton’s next move since a shock twist revealed that Michael Parr’s character is alive, and now, he could be about to get revenge on his brother.

Pete Barton thought he’d killed Ross earlier this summer, however it was later revealed that he had actually survived his brother's brutal attack.

Until now, Ross hasn’t been able to get back at his brother, but when Pete arrives at the caravan and falls in a drunken heap, Ross has the perfect opportunity.

After lifting Pete onto the bed and bolting the door, Ross pulls out a gun and positions it to look as though Debbie’s husband kills himself - but will he actually pull the trigger?

‘Emmerdale’ bosses have pulled a number of surprises - including Ross’s reappearance - out of the bag in recent months, so we’re going to stay on the fence on this one.

There’s been plenty of drama since the soap’s dramatic #SummerFate episodes, and the village recently said a final farewell to Val Pollard, who died in the mirror maze following the helicopter crash.

Strictly Come Dancing’ has won the first round of the Saturday night ratings war, as it went head-to-head with ‘The X Factor’ for the first time this year.

'Strictly' triumphed over 'X Factor' in the ratings war

‘Strictly’ averaged 8.69m (41.7%) from 7.15pm on BBC One, while ‘The X Factor’ interested an average of 7.13m (32.8%) from 8.15pm on ITV.

The dance show also had a higher peak audience, with 9.47m viewers at around 8pm.

The ratings battle had been much hyped this year, as Simon Cowell said he felt confident the changes to ‘X Factor’ would help them beat ‘Strictly’, also mocking its new star line-up.

The first episode of the series of ‘Strictly’ saw the new batch of celebrities paired up with their professional partners.

Last year’s champion Caroline Flack - who now hosts ‘The X Factor’ - also returned to perform her winner’s dance, featuring on both rival shows in the same night.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will return later this month, as the dancers now have three weeks to begin training before the competition starts.

However, the mood soon changed when he began to sing his rousing rendition of Jennifer Hudson’s ‘I Am Changing’.

The performance left the panel captivated, with Simon commenting: “The reason we never put an age limit on this show was so that we could find people like you. I genuinely mean that.

“There’s no question you have the likeability factor,” he added.

Elsewhere on the show, other impressive auditions came from school teacher Tonatha Raihan, who got saucy with a version of Beyonce’s ‘Work It Out’.

“You must be the coolest school teacher in the world,” a smiling Simon said.

Farmer Hannah Marie Kilminster also impressed as she auditioned with Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’, prompting Simon to say she’d “shaken the competition up”.

But will the acts all have what it takes to make it through the gruelling Bootcamp rounds?

‘The X Factor’ continues next Saturday (12 September) at 8pm on ITV.

'Beasts of No Nation'

Should a Netflix film have a place in the competition section of a major festival like Venice? Some say yes and some say no. Those, like festival director Alberto Barbera, who put the controversial Beasts of No Nation into the Venice competition this year, say that things are changing fast within the film world and the fact that the Netflix movie will only get a fleeting footing in the cinemas at the same time as going out on all other media else means that a new world of watching is upon us.

This is a world where those who want to see films will be able to see them as and when they want, through whatever media they want. But the old world is doubtful. It says that film festivals at least partly exist to encourage people to see other than Hollywood or Bollywood in the cinemas. Take that distribution and exhibition strut away and the result could well be less movies of intrinsic worth being financed and supported.

Barbera's argument is probably right. You can't stop progress even if you object to it. So Beasts of No Nation, a violent if skillful story of an African warlord and a small boy whom he trains up as a vicious killer, goes straight to VOD and to the cinemas on the same day after its first exposure in Venice.

It is a deeply depressing tale. The young boy and his family are first seen sheltering in a village some way away from the coup which is destroying the government forces of their unnamed state. Their hopes of avoiding the conflict between government and rebel forces are ruined when government troops arrive and start slaughtering those who they believe are supporting the coup. Among them are most of the boy's family though his mother, a devout Christian, may still be alive. All he can do is run away, eventually into the arms of Idris Elba, a power-hungry warlord. If you want revenge, follow me, says the warlord, who commands a brigade of outlaws armed to the teeth and ready for anything.

Soon the boy is taught to obey any order implicitly, including the killing of one of the enemy with a hacksaw. Slowly but surely the boy becomes an armed soldier, enjoying the protection of the warlord provided he does what he is told. But in fact he is dimly aware of what is happening to him and secretly wants to see his mother again.

The film is very well shot in tough circumstances and has a central performance from Idris Elba that can only be described as mind-boggling. Abraham Attah as the boy is pretty good too. What we get is a portrait of African political mayhem, where ignorant natives follow paranoid leaders to the death, with corruption everywhere, that looks and feels startlingly true. But some will feel that this is not the real Africa, struggling towards democracy and modernisation with the help of Chinese millions and European charity, but an older version that suggests nothing will ever change.

Even so, Cary Fukunaga's film would certainly have an honoured place in competition if nothing to do with Netflix, and despite the fact that, though it doesn't dwell only on violence and subjugation, it is clearly too long at well over two hours. This means it repeats itself time and again in order to prove its main point which is how evil breeds evil in the minds of men who can be led to perdition by skilful hucksters. This may be an African story but it is also a bit more than that.

Simon Cowell has reportedly turned to One Direction to help boost ratings of this year’s ‘X Factor’.

MORE 'X FACTOR':

The music mogul has drafted in Louis Tomlinson from the boyband after the ITV show lost out to the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ when the two shows went head-to-head at the weekend.

‘Strictly’ attracted three million more viewers than ‘The X Factor’ and now Simon is pulling out the stops to improve the show’s ratings.

Louis is set to join Simon at the judges’ houses stage of the competition, which will be televised live for the first time this year.

The 23-year-old will help Simon choose which contestants from his Overs category who will be taken to the live shows.

A source told The Sun: “Simon is pulling out the big guns as he is still determined to make this series a huge success.

“One Direction have always been big ratings winners and Louis is the most outspoken of the band. He won’t be afraid to tell people if they’re terrible, which Simon loves.”

Louis has admitted: “I’d love to if I got the call. But it’d be weird to go to anyone’s but Simon’s as he’s my boss.”

Simon is also planning to get 1D to perform on the show before they split next year.

The music mogul said: “I would like their last performance before their break to be the X Factor final, 100 per cent. I think they will come on the final of The X Factor this year.”

Chris Moyles is to stage a sensational return to breakfast radio, as he goes head-to-head with his Radio 1 replacement Nick Grimshaw.

The former Radio 1 DJ - who presented the station’s flagship show for eight years until 2012 - is making his radio comeback on Radio X, after three years out of the spotlight.

The station will replace XFM after 23 years, and its new presenting line-up is led by Chris and his new breakfast show.

He announced the news in an interview in The Sun, and said of his decision to return to the airwaves: “I wanted to take some time off. I took a year off but it went really quickly so I thought I’d have another year off.

“When you’re at the very top, your options are limited - and I’m an acquired taste. I didn’t miss it enough to want to go back to radio just to be on. But I never retired, contrary to what other papers have said.”

Chris’ new show will also see him reunited with former sidekick, newsreader Dominic Byrne but former team members Comedy Dave and Aled Jones will not be back.

He’s also poached Radio 1 producer Pippa Taylor, who’s previously worked alongside Grimmy, to produce his new show.

Chris also hit out at his former Radio 1 bosses and Grimmy’s breakfast show, accusing them of turning it into the show he used to do.

“It was going to be all different and all about the music without people in the studio, but it is,” he said.

“They have a couple of features that are actually quite similar to what we did."

Chris was fired by Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper in 2012, after the station decided to chase a younger audience - something which the loudmouth DJ described as “quite frankly b******s”, and “an unnecessary change”.

He was called into a meeting with Ben, where he told Chris it was time to move on, ruining his plan to quit live on air when he hit 10 years of hosting the show.

“My reaction when Ben told me was: ‘You s***bag, you’ve just blown my announcement by a year,’” he joked.

Meanwhile, Chris’ former Radio 1 colleague Vernon Kay will also host a mid-morning show, while Johnny Vaughn will host drivetime, and ‘The Voice’ judge and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson will present a weekend show.

Vernon said of his new gig: “I’m excited to be getting back on the radio. The launch of Radio X is the dawn of a new era in radio.

“There is a real buzz around the station because we know that this is going to be a lot of fun… It’s going to be a real honour to have Chris Moyles as my warm-up, bringing his unique style of broadcasting back onto the radio waves.”

Radio X will launch right across the UK on Monday September 21st at 6.30am and will be available all across the UK on digital radio, as well as on 104.9FM in London and 97.7FM in Manchester.

Geri Halliwell has spoken for the first time about rumours that the Spice Girls are set to reunite to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

It had been reported that the girls - minus Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham - will reform for a world tour next year, two decades after they first stormed the charts with debut single ‘Wannabe’.

While speaking to The Sun, the artist formerly known as Ginger Spice teased the plans, saying: “Let’s see what happens.”

“I am always flattered by the support myself and the other Spice Girls receive from the public. We are still as close and constantly chatting on the phone with one another,” she said.

“But nothing is set in stone. There’s always speculation about the Spice Girls getting back together. Let’s just see what happens. Life is good and I’m happy.”

Emma Bunton and Mel C previously remained coy about a possible tour, when the reports were first published last month.

“Woke up this morning wondering whether I need to start practising my backflips???!!!” Mel wrote.

“Do I need to put my pigtails in?!?!?” Emma added.

Mel B has famously been trying to put the group back together for years, and told ‘The Tonight Show’ last month: “Hopefully, we’ll gather the troops around, and we’ll get to do something to celebrate it next year. It’s in my plan, I don’t know about anybody else’s.”

After hitting the charts in 1996, the girls had 10 top five hits, before they split in 2000.

They later reunited in 2007 for a world tour, and released a single for Children In Need, entitled ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’, but it only reached number 11.

After then reforming again for a one-off performance at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012, Victoria insisted she would never perform with her bandmates again.

"I won't ever do it again," she told Vanity Fair last year.

"Doing the Olympics was an incredible honour. I was so proud to do it, proud to be British. That was a perfect time to say, 'That's great. Thank you to everybody, but no more. Sometimes you've got to know when it's time to leave the party."

Eggheads’ panellist CJ De Mooi has revealed his fears that he killed a man while living on the streets in Amsterdam 20 years ago.

The quiz show regular is now being investigated by Dutch police, after he confessed to punching a man and pushing him in a canal in 1998, when he approached him with a knife.

CJ made the claims in his new autobiography, extracts of which have been published in The Mirror, admitting that the incident was the biggest regret of his life.

"He caught me on the wrong day and I just snapped,” he explained. "I fully suspect I killed him. I've no idea what happened to him.

"This is the one incident of my life I do regret. I was in a phone box and this old guy, obviously a massive drug user, came up behind me with a knife in his hand. He told me to turn around, open my bag and give him whatever was inside.

“I punched him so hard in the face, knocked the knife out of his hand and threw him in the canal.

He added: "It was the only outburst of violence I’ve ever done. That’s one of the main reasons why I absolutely abhor all violence."

CJ was earning money as a sex worker at the time, in the Netherlands’ capital city, after finding himself homeless and penniless.

He had a tough start in life, as his autobiography reveals, charting his early life in a violent, racist and homophobic home in Rotherham, and his accounts of how he begged and shoplifted to get by.

He has had no contact with his family since running away from home nearly 30 years ago.

“I don’t refer to them as my family. They are just blood relatives. After my 17th birthday, I walked out in a thunderstorm with just the clothes on my back,” he said in a candid YouTube video last year.
